Dirtyhip Posted October 21, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 21, 2016 The tape on my bars has finally worn out. I wore a hole through it down to the rubber padding of it. After looking at all kinds of tape, I am still coming back to the Lizard skin stuff. It is really primo tape. The cost is substantially more, but it really is good quality. The 3.2 mm stuff is nice on the hands. This bike is often rode on gravel and dirt. For that kind of riding, I really do suggest something padded and something with good grip to it. Hurray for high quality tape. I am thankful this kind of stuff is available.
ChrisL Posted October 22, 2016 Share #2 Posted October 22, 2016 My wife likes white tape on her bike and I was told the Lizardsins were easy to clean. FYI the white tape is not easy to clean and after a while I gave up on it. Comfy for sure but if keeping it clean is a concern it's not as advertised.
Ralphie ★ Posted October 22, 2016 Share #3 Posted October 22, 2016 I have been very happy aboot switching from white to black bar tape. While white looked great when clean, it was horrendous to try to keep clean, and eventually I also gave up.
Dirtyhip Posted October 24, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted October 24, 2016 I have never ran white bar tape. I can't keep white clothes clean. White bar tape would be a lesson in futility for me. Dirty is in my name for a reason.
Wilbur ★ Posted October 28, 2016 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2016 3.2 Lizardskin is nice. It is on all my bikes. Even the white kind!
Square Wheels Posted October 28, 2016 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2016 I had Fisik (or however they spell it) white tape on my bike for two years, still looked brand new. Switched back to black for aesthetics.
Dirtyhip Posted November 2, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted November 2, 2016 I actually wear out tape in about one season. I wear holes through it. I blame the vibration on dirt/gravel roads.

At the store we use 91% alcohol to clean with. Lizzard skin is awesome stuff. I also like the new Felt reflective tape.
maddmaxx ★ Posted November 13, 2016 Share #9 Posted November 13, 2016 There is an advantage to a flat bar setup. MTB grips.
