28 years ago, WoW and I went to see the Rolling Stones in Ames, IA on their Steel Wheels tour. It was very chilly, but an amazing musical experience! One of the best concerts I ever went to! I had always liked the song "Sympathy for the Devil", but this concert kicked it up a few notches. Keith Richards, known more for great riffs than guitar solos, played a brain searing, emotional solo that was a highlight of the show for me. At the end of the song, he leaned back against an amp with a huge grin on his face. I knew we saw something special! Neither the IMAX movie, nor the live album from that tour had anything close to what we remembered. Some friends and I have been searching for a bootleg recording of the concert ever since. Last night, I was about to fall asleep on the couch when our doorbell rang. It was one of my best friends with a crazy grin on his face (this guy looks and speaks just like Andrew Zimmern!). He is a big fan of bootleg recordings and this had been his holy grail! He presented me a pair of CD's burned from that concert! It was 80's tech - most likely recorded on a Walkman, but not bad for the era. I tried listening to the rest of the concert, but as good as it was, I had to hear "Sympathy" and fast forwarded to it. I was not disappointed! Tears streamed from my eyes as I relived that night from nearly 30 years ago!5 points

Through my connections & a double-naught spy seconded to the NSA, I got a message to the Huck-A-Poo-ilian They're safe. Power is out. Ice cream melted.4 points

ok, this is for the mechanically inclined types. My rear derailleur has been sluggish and not shifting crisply like it used to. Can I fix that with a little degreaser or do I need to replace the derailleur?3 points

Touring bikes usually have enough clearance for cross tires. That should get you a little deeper into winter riding now that Ian is turning loose of the Novara.3 points

<CRINGE> I have an ankle that's not OEM. Every once in a while, I will bend it in a way that it takes issue with. It lets me know in no uncertain terms that it does not like what I did. I make funny faces, hyperventilate and say bad words. Sometimes, if it's a particularly "good one", I take a knee and make funny sounds. Empathy almost makes me regret posting that picture of the wooden bridge, last week. Almost.3 points

That was a mighty fine rant. Could have used a bit more cussing and bashing of alternative groups, but solid work.3 points

Little short 8 mile ride today. The township was fluffing up the road today and it was a bit tricky with road slicks.3 points

So after my hiking weekend..and the Brit's last night...time to settle in for more working out. I felt good hiking but I know it would feel better if the weight came down a bit. I did not over eat on the weekend..but I did have some vino..now back to the basics.2 points

I forgot that I posted that. I am lucky I didn't die that night, drinking Rivers Rum. That was so bad. <laughing>2 points

Long time ago I watched the X-rated cartoon Fritz the Cat at the local drive in theater. I thought it was the best movie I ever saw. Many years later I rented the movie to show my wife. I was embarrassed to think that at one time I thought it was a great movie. Something else must have influenced my opinion of that movie.2 points

I live in a small town where everything is within walking distance. We have been known to run to the grocery store as part of our workout. It's 2mi round trip.2 points

...and I have no ide how I crafted one of the best bike unveilings, in forum history. The progression of pictures was pretty epic, IMHO. I don't think I can ever re-create one like that. Yup, most talented artists are probably ripped 1/2 the time. Really, I wish that first bike would have been Brutus, because he is my favorite. His thread did start out with pics of a very special box from Specialized. When you see those boxes get delivered, a little bit of extra excitement arises.1 point

Pet lovers can be really really myopic and judgmental and sometimes very annoying and wrong and deserve to be punched in the junk.1 point

I got rid of all those people on my feed because I couldn't take it. I'm a dog lover, have had lots of them taken many in, but sometimes putting the dog down is the sensible and correct thing to do.1 point

Congrats on the acquisition! A good friend pulls through. I've seen the Stones back in the day and was always entertained at every show. First show was in July 1975 in Largo MD. A barnburner. I'd love to have a bootleg of that show.1 point

Just dump the bike and buy a new one. As you are already standing in a bike shop this will be no problem.1 point
