  1. The boy is about 10 or so. I'd never met him before. He is the most gentle, loving, little fellow I ever met. Everyone he meets, his eyes open open up real wide, he opens his arms wide, then, hugs the demons out of you. I've never felt such trust and love from anyone other than my wife. My sister spends a lot of time with him, and she has told me about him, but her words couldn't begin to describe what he is like. The little guy can change your outlook.

  2. I am working with Project Badass again. We have been doing all kinds of body movement stuff. We were on a wood basketball court doing stretches with some mats. The mats are a little slippery on the wood floor. She was using a stretch band and was pulling really hard and making ouchy sounds. I was about to get back on my mat, to stretch as well. As I walked toward her, I said "Be careful. Don't hurt yourse.." My sentence cut off, as I stepped on the mat and it slid and I fell right on my ass. It was super funny, cause I was walking over to tell her not to hurt herself, as I fell on the ground. We laughed for about 5 minutes. She said the look on my face was pretty priceless as my feet flew up. She also said that I fall pretty gracefully. HAHA I said "I have lots of practice with that."

  3. Same cousin, he retired from Delta airlines and has free flight privileges. He's feeling bored, thinks he'd like a beer, maybe a Guinness. Well beer is best fresh, Guinness is brewed in Ireland, so off to Dublin he goes. Two beers and a short walk about, back on plane to home. Some folks age well.

  4. Granddaughter Kiara, who was demonstrating carding wool and also selling our products. On Friday she was out of school from 9am till 2pm to demonstrate for the 2000 school kids who were there. She rode the bus to school in the morning in this costume and then had to go to several classes to explain why she was dressed like that and what she would be doing. She is in 3rd grade and had to speak to all 3 3rd grade and all 3 2nd grade classes before she came over to work.

  14. I wont be living in the barn but I may be training in it before the house is done. I'm going to include an office with heat and running water. It will have windows out onto the training floor so you can watch in warmth. The training area will have less heat--- maybe the radiant stuff in the ceiling-- not sure yet. Your 30Amp will be right near the side door of the barn.

  15. We found a coupon on line for 22 chicken tenders from Popeye's for $19 so womaxx took a detour home from an afterwork doctors appointment to get some. They were so screwed up there that she waited for over 20 minutes for the order to be prepared. The manager apologized for the delay and made up for it by throwing in some extras. So we opened the box for dinner and there are more than three meals worth of chicken there (3 per for 3 people) along with a side of mashed potato and 3 desert pies. Probably not the healthiest choice, but mmmmm mmmmm good and 3 of their tenders will stuff you.

  20. We are thinking a small house and a big barn--- paved drive and 30Amp for the guests who don't want to sleep in the house. Tim said that instead of a house warming party, he wanted a breaking in the new house party. I'm not sure he knows exactly what he said.

  22. I would have preferred something a little more intense that made me feel like the expertise of a doctor was required. I know, I watch TV, I'm the one who is supposed to tell the doctor if I'm having mild to severe joint pain now. And I do have to go back and give up enough blood for a Transylvanian Potluck and find someone to stick a camera up my butt. I just think it was kind of a waste of my and the doctor's time, it was a rather incomplete physical exam. Whatever, my employer is giving me $100 bucks and reducing my insurance payments $800 for that wasted hour.

  23. It's a ten year old picture, and I'm even better looking now. When I was a kid, I was so ugly my dad carried the picture of the kid that came with his wallet! No respect, I tell ya! One time my GF told me I was ugly, so I get depressed. I went to my shrink and he told me "She's right!" I told him I wanted a second opinion, and he said "Ok, you're crazy too!" Then he told me to lie on his couch - face down! One time I told him I thought I was a dog; he told me to get off his couch! Tip the waiter, and try the veal; I'll be here all week!

  26. WoW's best friend for several years has a girl with Downs. Daughter is about the same age as my son. Friend's husband left her when he found out their daughter had Downs. Being a single mom was tough already, but to have a special needs child added to the challenge..... WoW would take her for a much needed girls' night out on occassion. I would watch Cassie along with our kids. It wasn't unusual for WoW and friend to come back home to me in the rocking chair - Cassie on 1 side of my lap and my son on the other. Cassie and I were buddies for a long time. Friend re-married and we were all together every weekend. His job eventually took them to Montana. We visited a couple times before the kids had activities. Haven't seen them in several years. Occassional FB posts and messages. Cassie is high-functioning. She shares an apartment in a building for special needs people. She is pretty independent, but will need mom and eventually brother to look after her big picture concerns the rest of her life. Really miss them when we think of them. Need to make a trip up there some time.

  28. Nails, S hooks for hanging pots over the fire and many other uses. Coat hooks to nail to walls, poles, etc. Tent stakes. Cooking pot trivets to use over the fire. Steel dice. Other custom items that campers wanted. Just about sold out of everything I had made ahead and all I made there. I think I have 1 screwdriver, 3 s hooks and maybe 20 nails left. Oh, I also made some stakes to rope off the forge to keep hands away from the hot metal and a nice rack to display items. Those were for myself and I still have them. I sold so many tent stakes that I had to pull 2 from my tent because someone wanted them. I need to make more before I set my tent the next time. I spent $400 on things from others there and came home with as much cash as I went with.

  31. About 10 years ago I got involved with a bicycle master planning study that would implement a "road diet" on a minor roadway outside Princeton. This road has lots of residential on one side and lots of office and commercial on the other (thus - bicycle demand) but with four 11-foot lanes, and high speeds, it was brutal for cycling. This road sees a lot of diverted traffic during peak hours when the parallel Route 1 is backed up (which is daily). After years of making its way through approvals it finally got done - it was completed by my old firm but I drew the striping plans while I was still there (I also wrote the report addressing concerns about reduced lanes and effects on capacity). So my goal was to get out there and ride it. This is what it looked like previously: and now: A caveat - I had no involvement with the "fire lane" legends and I'm not sure it makes sense to label the median as such. It looks like they actually widened this intersection a little so the bike lanes could continue through the intersection. That's a later change too, but a good one (though the lane alignment through the intersection suffers a little). I rode the bike lanes down and back (just over 3 miles round trip). Very nice. But I guess I didn't consider how much of a ride I was signing up for, and given my 2-month layoff since my last ride I may have overextended myself a little. I began considering the flattest (safe) route home, and pursued it. I did stop in Princeton for a little rest and a snack, near a sculpture that has some history for the band Phish (and since no one else here cares I won't bother elaborating). But it's in a nice spot. I had the pleasure of changing a flat here once last summer. Mercifully, I made it home after 44 miles, some 1500 climbing feet, and a better average speed than I'd have expected. I had enough energy to take a garage-door shot of the bike. I hope I did it right - I recognize that the pine needles might be a violation. thanks for lookin'! Despite my legs, which almost felt tired from the start, it was really great to be out on the bike again (and great to be outside, sweating, in short sleeves).
