  1. Got home around 1:30 this morning from Haiti. Great trip! Lots to share. Ms. Aire, the supplies you sent went to two schools and two orphanages. They brought lots of smiles. The laptop you all bought was greatly appreciated and put to immediate use. We are starting a sponsorship program at a new school and we set up a ledger so the school can keep track of income and expenses. The program will pay Teacher’s as well as provide a feeding program for the students. The picture is Pastor Isaiah and Wolten, the school director with the laptop.

  2. @AirwickWithCheese often spanks me for not updating on daughter Megan and her job. Hey Dude, they had a baby Penguin born, with a couple more sitting on eggs. If this doesn't bring a smile to the cheese face, I don't know what will

  4. Winter Camping Rendezvous was fun but very cold. Over night temps were -17, -4, -13, High temp never got over 5 degrees. There was a recall on the water pump on my truck but there were none availabe before we left. Pump failed and we had to be towed in on the way home. Also I came down with the flu. Other than those problems the trip was fun. My bed was warm so I could sleep good. Was disappointed that I didn't feel well enough to do much snowshoeing.

  5. I often wear my "Chain Gang" shirt for workouts...way better than a cotton tee...Anyway...Sunday I noticed that part of the wording wasn't as dark and clear as the other...WTF..I wore this shirt cycling to DC in the heat..it can't be one of those shirts that change color with heat I would have noticed..it was 100 degrees when we rode into DC. I even tried to warm a portion of it...and no color change Now I am confused... Tonight, in the middle of my work out...it happened again..I glance down and part of the wording is faint in color........Damn it...took my glasses off and realized ...they were steamed up and the "color change" I was seeing was due to fogged glasses

  7. My workout crew is growing. We have been taking over the free weight room doing our exercise thing. Today was arms and back day. One some days we outnumber the men. I am about ready to graduate up a band for pull ups. The purple band is getting to be really easy now.

  9. I was tasked with producing a power cord for an oven. But before I could make that cord I had to discover where the various parts of the crimp tool for the pins had gone and why the old cord had failed. Then I had to turn an office cube into a work bench and make some cable clamps so that when moving one end of the cable the other didn't fly around and hurt me. The cable has about a 2 ft bend radius, is heavy, is stuffed into a complex connector that is almost too small for it and is generally such a pain in the ass to make that it's difficult to find vendors with any reasonable time or price availability. 11 1/2 hours of labor later the thing is done. I'm taking today off for snow and it's a good thing because my hands feel like somebody used a hammer on the fingers which are now covered with bandaids. I'm sure that the customer will complain if we charge them more than $15 for the cord.

  16. Ryan plays clarinet in this school band. This is his second year playing. Last Friday, he played in a graded competition. Ryan's ensemble was awarded a 1st Division and was one of the ones that got an Exemplary! Below is an excerpt from the email his band director sent out. You are all invited to the Open House. We can go for Sweet Firefly ice cream after. Ratings: A 1st divison means they gave a near flawless performance and conducted themselves with poise and professionalism. A 2nd division merely means they had a few flaws in their performance that distracted from the musical message but still did a good job. We also had 6 ensembles receive an additional award of “Exemplary” musicians. This means that their performance was especially musical and entertaining. All 1st division ensemble members who performed received an ensemble medal. All Exemplary ensemble members received a patch in addition to their medal. If you were unable to hear their performance, we will get another opportunity on Monday, March 5th, at the Wilson Spring Open House. We were invited to have your band students perform their ensembles on the cafeteria stage that evening so please make note of this date as it was not on the band calendar I sent home last month. Please let me know if we can help schedule your student’s ensemble at particular time if they have other activities that evening we need to work around. Now that we’re past the ensemble contest, we’re now preparing for UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. Our sectionals and rehearsals will be focusing on that music. Thanks for all you do to support your band student! Sincerely, Mr. Wallace and Mr. Mayborn

  24. yes, Harmon Kardon AV receiver with Energy Connoisseur speakers, sounds really dope. Surround sound kicks ass IMO. One time I was watching something and there was police siren abruptly on the right front channel which is next to my doorwall. I seriously thought I was getting raided it sounded so real I'm very impressed w/ the separation of sound that I hate watching non-surround tv. Even watching sitcoms or regular shows the center channel gets all the dialog while the other channels get effects, or voice if someone was out of the room on the TV show.

  25. Fred is a 91 year old visually impaired vet. He asked if I would help him fill out a form for a VS golf event down in Iowa..he went last year and had a great time. Most of the form was basic stuff..but they had this wellness/life satisfaction type of form and "other" was a option on things they could help you with. So I asked Fred if he wanted help picking up women? He laughed and said yeah, but they have to be younger than 85...We both laughed and had tears streaming down our faces. When I leave on Fridays, I leave Fred in charge of bail money ...I have also suggested...letting him drive...he just laughs...That is what he said about the golf trip..so many fun people and how much they laughed.

  32. Usual commute of 5. Then, I banged out a quick 1400 ft climb at lunch that was about another 10 miles. Pulled off a QOM on this loop. I feel strange about the QOM. I took it from this nationally ranked Pro roadie racer gal. I know she was just cruising with her friends on this climb. It is just my training zone. I wanted to set a new personal best, and her QOM got tangled up in that. No disrespect at all. I know she can go back and slay that if she wants to.

  37. Even though it is mid winter, there are blooms and the broad leaf variety plants never die off like in the lesser parts of the country. This made me think how nice it would be to have a rose garden to share with Kirby while we picnicked in the back garden. Then I thought of Page Turners sublime roses. That filthy hippie.
