Wo46 got new leathers for her birthday. Wo46 is going to try her hand at sidecar racing this summer. We ran across this set of leathers that are in her size when we were in Chicago today.14 points

I've lived in 3 different provinces. Each cumulative experience in each region of Canada has deepened my love for the country where I was born. For my birthday celebration, we went for a gentle hike several days later and what you see above is in Banff on our way to Banff Springs Hotel, a 5 star hotel ...just for early dinner-snack. Though snowy cold winters or wet rainy weeks in Vancouver can be inconvenient, I do love living in a world with 4 distinct seasons. Maybe I seem like a coddled Canadian not wanting to live in a very different culture / society. Shrug. I seriously beg to differ: I have lived cultural-linguistic shock when I didn't learn English until kindergarten --even though I was born and lived in Canada my whole life. It was tough but children do have it slightly easier in such adjustments. Then after being required to learn French .. elementary school, then university (for an English lit. degree at my university, one had to also graduate with 1 university level foreign language course), and still reminded reality of a mother who doesn't know English plus interacting with some first cousins in Canada my age, who don't much English (they immigrated as adults), it doesn't feel like a "coddled" life to me. I admire people who want to go mountaineering, climb dangerous fearsome mountains in the Himalayans.. But for me, I've climbed other "mountains" in my head and in my heart. That's enough for me. Because of earlier life experiences which were tough, I wish to enjoy learning without drastically different cultural shocks in another foreign country. I like my life in Canada..10 points

So I always sit in the same spot at church...and a friend of mine...(a woman I have known for 30 some years) sits behind me when she attends the same service.. Due to ice and such she has not been there when I have been there since around Christmas... When we did the sign of peace..she said "Are you losing weight?"..I said yes.... After church I leaned over and said..."Did you notice my butt was smaller?"...and she said Yes...but she waited to see when I turned around before she asked..... Made me feel good...and like she said if she had been there every week...she might not have noticed..but..yes...My Azz is smaller Follow that up with the young kid who was working out when I was this morning...and We got to chatting (I needed him to lower a piece of equipment for me ) Anyway...I said this workout stuff gets harder as you get older...keep it up... LOL he thought I was 40....bless his heart I almost gave him a kiss on the cheek5 points

My retirement income is less than half what my working income was. I think that is enough. Some of our charible giving may have to be adjusted in the future. My Medicare Advantage plan is crap compared to the insurance I had when working. I don’t have a lot of living expenses. A lot of the things we give money to support I decided to leave at the same level that they were when I was making twice as much and see how it goes. It’s almost been two years since I retired and we are doing ok. Some of my charitable giving will probably shift more to giving my time and less giving my money. You can’t give what you don’t have.4 points

After moving it 2 weeks later because of weather the carnival was smaller than usual. Benefit was this was the first year that we had enough snow to run dog sleds on Main Street. Tarnish Malamutes had 6 dogs there and we had 3. There were several spectators there who had Samoyeds and a Malamute. At the end of the demo we hitch their dogs for them and showed them how to start a dog for the first time. Belva had her grandsons driving her dogs. Very beautiful and well trained AKC champion Malamutes. Belva has 40 years experience training and showing. You can see the skills watching her work with the dogs. Her husband has judged many shows and knows his dogs well. He kept telling me that we need to show Shila. Says she is one of the best young Siberian puppies he has ever seen. I demoed bikjoring with Balto and the fat bike. (brakes are more important than pedals) I was glad I had the studded tires on the slippery street. The last event of the hour long demo was 1 dog drag races between Belva's 11 year old grandson and Kiara our 8 year old granddaughter. Syracuse Winter Carnival4 points

Agreed. And yet others think a penis or vagina is an indicator of gender. How obtuse can people be? This is 2018 after all.3 points

My PRI is getting better and I think the charges will be dropped and the restraining order lifted, so I should be able to around livestock again soon. Also going to be dropping out of my young Democratic Aethist group due to the rumors being true about the broom closet.3 points

...oh man, the list is endless. I sleep in sometimes now, shave maybe twice a week, haven't needed to directly deal with drunks or derelicts (some of my favorite people) on a personal basis since I stopped working, and haven't turned on the lights and siren in the car since I can't remember when. Don't even get me started on the adjustments I've needed to make with regard to eating.3 points

So far, so good. I like the people. They have a ping pong table. Nice office. If I ask for a headset, I get one, a fancy one where I can ramble 300 feet from my desk and still yammer on. I asked for English Breakfast tea, the next day there were three boxes of it. I have a dual monitor workstation that is not just kludged together. I sit in a comfortable chair. I have views from high up (I will take a pic looking at the Empire State Building for you guys tomorrow). If I have a question for IT or HR, I get immediate responses, then follow up emails asking if all was well. People smile and are not miserable at the thought of coming in. They go out for drinks. There is a mix of young and older employees (skewed a little toward the young end). People dress casually, and not just office casual, but casual casual. I am not used to all this. Also, this is a different market segment than I am used to, so I am kind of lost at the moment. I have to figure out how everything works. Also, most sales jobs, you just don't know how they are going to be, whether the process is one you like, or if they were lying about the money you can make, all that. The signs are good now, cross your fingers and hope it pans out.3 points

149 lb This is the lightest I've been since 2009. Last year I dropped from 175 to 155 b'cus of all the riding and held that there for several months, but this was amazing to see. I always considered 150 my fighting weight.3 points

...you're probly not quite old enough yet to have figured out how much the healing process slows down when you get into your 60's and 70's. Personally, I'm a lot more careful now when I jump a mountain bike, and regularly pass up stuff I used to take routinely. So at least in my case, ten year old bikes are plenty pro enough for what I do. And you've already seen what I ride for road here.......nothing newer than early 90's. Might be different if I were interested in age class competition, but thankfully I'm not. A lot of the road bikes I post photos of were pro level in their day. I guess what I'm saying is that it's dubious that you will be the one person whose shralping abilities don't decline a little, and that being the sensible young woman you are, you'll recognize this before you get badly injured trying something you just don't have the reflexes to pull off any more. I might be just a wuss, but I have this mental image of one bad fall translating into spending the remainder of my years in the day room of the home, fighting over what channel to watch. Not pretty.2 points

@AirwickWithCheese needs to be here to answer your flooring questions. That is his expertise even though he likes to think he knows something about windows. In my experience, it depends on the product, the installation and the application. Many manufactured floors don't stand up to moisture so bathrooms aren't the best place for them.2 points
