  1. I think kids do that, regardless of whether they are in the presence of greatness or not. Plus, we just have fun.

  5. He is right. Go buy the tools, unpack them, throw away the boxes, then screw up badly early on, toss in the towel and call the contractor. Make sure to use all the tools first so you cannot return them.

  6. I recently swapped out my worn brake pads on my cross bike with Kool Stop dual compound pads. Wow what a difference! It's got cantilever brakes so the stopping power is not great but with the pads stopping power is actually respectable. My last 2 rides on the crosser have been in wet sloppy conditions and they actually worked quiet well compared to the stock pads. Anyone looking to replace brake pads I'd suggest checking them out.

  7. Along the last wall you will need to make long rip cuts, so table saw is best with a fence At the start or end of every run, you will need to cut a plank to length and when you install baseboard, you will need the miter saw When you have to notch a plank at corner or doorway, you will want a jig saw Under the door jambs, you will love the vibaratory saw. So, head to Home Depot or Lowes and buy some new toys.

  8. Dehydrated peppers. This is my favorite snack..I will dehydrate some peppers and sprinkle with some garlic powder and I will dehydrate a few jalapeños. After the jalapeños are fully dehydrated I will chop them up and mix them into some Feta cheese. I will take the sweet peppers and scoop up the feta mixed with jalapeño.

  9. Love Kool Stop pads. It's all I use. The salmon colored pads are very rim friendly, especially on cheap aluminum rims.

  11. Yesterday we held a mushing 101 class for the Fort Wayne Parks. Seven people signed up and 2 park employees brought their dogs. Each person was allowed to bring one dog. We spent 4 hours teaching them how to safely train their dog and about the equipment. We had harnesses, sleds, carts, scooters, bikes and canicross belts there for them to try out. Any dog can pull. Smaller dogs not as much weight or distance as the larger ones. The dogs there ranged from 25 to 100 lbs. The 3 of us teaching took 2 Malamutes, 1 Siberian Husky, 1 Boxer and 1 Lab to demo. I ran my lab over 4 miles demoing the toboggan sled on the wet grass (no snow). The traditional dog sleds weren't used with no snow. Bikes, canicross, scooters and carts were the main things used. I ran nearly another 4 miles helping them start their dogs on the toboggan. By the time the afternoon was over all 10 dogs were doing very well on cart, scooter, toboggan, bike and canicross. It will be up to them to continue the training. @Airehead When are we training your dogs? Bikejoring is fun and a good way to experience crashing. Lindy, Ryan and Tillie would love this.

  12. Realistically, "cable" TV is a dead end for Spectrum or Comcast or whatever cable TV companies are out there. Broadband internet is all anyone needs, and consumers are shifting to that as they disconnect from the TV and phone portion of their packages, and jump on both OTA and pick-and-choose method of content (Amazon, Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, HBOGo, etc). I know Comcast is full steam ahead on tackling that next generation of evolution, but they also know that the old way still pays the bills and most folks are still in that 20th century mindset of cable TV. Millennials especially will blow that up completely as they emerge as the largest consumer market over the next decade. Tom

  16. Was a busy day. I was one of a group of 4 of us holding a mushing 101 class. 4.5 miles running with a sled, 12 miles on the fat bike. and 7 miles bikejoring with one or 2 dogs on the fat bike. You may think it sounds easy to have dogs pulling you but even though you may not pedal as hard it is a real workout. very easy to crash if you are training new dogs. No question IF you will crash. Question is when and how hard. My legs and back are still sore this morning.

  18. When I'm going on a major trip, I always do a lot of research. Many such things are a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I don't want to miss out on things. The first thing I learn are the letters or characters for "men's room" - that actually paid off at the Chongqing Zoo in China while we were waiting for the Giant Pandas to come outside. Before I went to Egypt for a week, I studied a "Teach Yourself Hieroglyphics" book. It was by people at the British Museum and great because it didn't try to make you fluent, it concentrated on things you would see in temples and tombs. I made up a cheat sheet to help me. When we were at the Karnak Temple in Luxor, I looked up at one of the massive pillars and saw a bunch of writing I didn't know but suddenly, among the hierogyphs, I saw a squiggle over an ankh next to a triangle within a triangle. I knew that meant "Given life forever." As I walked around the pillar I saw the same group of glyphs. Then again and again, each one higher on the pillar. As I kept looking higher my eyes were suddenly looking right at the sun. I got a shiver as I realized a Priest of Amun Re from over 3000 years ago had just communicated with me: Amun Re, the Sun god, was who gave life forever. That group of glyphs was intentionally repeated higher and higher to get you to look at the sun! That's one example of how doing your homework can improve your experience!

  20. Haven't really looked at DVR as rarely use it. Don't know how I would with antenna + wifi on different inputs. Thinking about Play-on which record to hard drive the accessed by everything but Apple TV. They always run a 'lifetime' special, right now $39 but saw last month for $19. Also streams only in 740k. They do have a newer option that also works with Apple but it is a purchasing credits format. Understand not wanting a large antenna. The one I installed was the Antennas Direct Clearstream 2Max, pictured below with drill for reference. (Best Buy price matched Walmart.com, $30 lower!) Range is 60 miles (what I want are only 13 miles away and nicely grouped 95-110 degrees) which I aimed at 100 degrees. With the same 100 degree aim, it also picks up as station in Melbourne 50 miles away at 160 degrees but does show pixilation. That antenna does not require a power amplifier but with 3 sets have an in-line power passthrough amplifier. What I experimented with, attached to the old Direct TV mount, is a cheap $15 unit I picked up at Monoprice on sale. Concern about how the hard plastic will hold up to Florida sun and wind but worked fine and even pulled in th Melbourne station, same 100 degree aim, without pixilation. It is a powered unit which plugs in behind the TV...but you can't split the line to other TV's as a splitter blocks the power to the antenna. It would require an electric outlet in the attic to be between the antenna and splitter which I don't have. Also, between the two pictures you can see why place on the opposite end of the house from where the old Direct TV mount was to avoid trees.

  22. Rode 20 miles in sloppy conditions. I haven't been feeling 100% since Friday. I wasn't sure if it was fatigue due due travel or a bug. It's a bug... Although I didn't feel great on the ride I was humming along at 18 MPH on my 35 cm all terrain tires which I normally can't do. I planned to ride up 4 really hard climbs and actually climbed then well. Then the bottom fell out and I had nothing left... My mtn bike race is next weekend and assuming I get over this bug I think Ill be alright

  24. I love Trader Joe's. My wife used to shop in the Westwood, NJ store when she worked there; we lived in NYC then and didn't have one. When we moved to our current location I had hoped there would be one closer to us, but at least there was Whole Foods. Then on my morning cycling commute I saw a sign stating there was a TJ store coming soon. Every day I would text my wife with its progress, and we were there opening day.

  31. Was watching TV before bed last night. Power went out again, only for a few hours. I had just put away all of the cords and locked up the generator again. I was not looking forward to dragging it all out again this morning.
