  1. Surgery went well according to the doctors. THey will have him bear weight tomorrow. A coupe rods and a handful of screws and he is back together again. I am home to sleep for a couple of hours. He is heavily medicated and pretty funny. Now that he knows the kids are ok, he is asking for his stuff. "where are my clothes?" They cut them off you--everything is ruined. "Where is my flight suit?" Cut all the way down the front and each sleeve. "Damn them, didn't they see the zipper? Those people should slow down." :I need my boots." They are in my car. He thinks a second, "I guess you can keep them. I can't go home naked with boots." "Where is my fight bag?" I don't know, probably evidence with the wreckage. "I need that, it is new." He really bought it in the early 90's. "Go get it, I need it." I can't dear. "Yes you can, you can do everything." He has a point.

  4. Since Kirby is out hiking somewhere in Upstate New York and ignored my request to visit me again, 7 years in a row, I extended an invitation to most of the Randomguy family and they arrived last night. RO's first moment in Greenville and the before picture.

  6. Truck was wrecked 06/02/18. Gieco finally sent me a check for it on 07/08/18. Last night I bought this, a 2017 Chrysler 300C. It has more bells and whistles than any other car I have ever owned and is a huge departure from the truck it replaced. My son keeps finding stuff. Today on the way to school he made it blow cold air on my butt. It has heated and cooled seats and you can control almost all the functions in the car through the touch screen.

  7. A little over 34 mile at 15.3 mph avg. It was hot with the end temp in the low 90s. Humid too but no wind to speak of.

  8. If Randomguy lived in Greenville RO "Father, please, mayest we ride our bicycles to the lake at Furman on the Swamp Rabbit trail? I've cleaned my room and fed all the lovely squirrels." RG "Yes Princess, be sure to call Uncle Cheese and ask him to meet us there." RO "Oh thank you eversomuch father. Yay! Uncle Cheese is the swellest."

  9. RG visited the Trophy Club whilst RO and I visited MomCheese and had some shoofly pie. I bought my goddaughter several outfits more conducive to Greenville and got her hair done at the Conservative Cuttery for Young Ladies. RG is passed out on the couch and talking liberal nonsense. Furman and Downtown today then church tomorrow. We worked on a crayon drawing for Uncle Wilbur that we will unveil after completion. Sam wee weed on RG's new shoes.

  10. Some posted recently about how they couldn't understand wearing blue jeans in hot weather. I spent the day cutting wood. High 80s to mid 90s. Wore blue jeans and boots. Wouldn't have done it any orher way.

  14. Flight suites aren't cheap. If I would have had the baling done on Thursday I would have been there and may have seen the accident. Was planning to fly in with a friend in his AT6. It seems like when you are retired that work shouldn't interfere with fun.

  15. He was in a plane crash this evening with two young men in the plane. They are both doing well ---its minor stuff. Mr Aire is in trauma care waiting for a bed in trauma ICU . Surgery tomorrow for T8 to T12 breaks. he is worried about the passengers even though he was told they are ok. FAA is on the scene and one investigator has already been in. I can't talk about the crash here but it sounds like his skill and calm nature prevented it from being much worse. Plane is totaled after rolling or tumbling on the ground. We would appreciate prayers, vibes , good karma or whatever.

  22. Wrasslin even a baby chain saw on the end of a 9 foot pole is exhausting. I'm not known for great upper body strength and this job wiped me out. Of course the branches were at or above the best height so I was operating at full arm reach over my head and without enough leverage left on the pole from the handle for parts of the cuts. The major branch that was hanging over our parking area was a bit over 4 inches thick. Between the pole saw and the main chain saw I managed several branches and stripped them down with all the remaining pieces a size easy to carry.

  25. I've been the poster child for poor eating, I used to say my favorite foods, and I could live off of them, were the three P's. Pancakes, Pasta and Pizza. I ate them all with amazing regularity. Now I eat pancakes as a treat on Sundays only, and I eat less of them than I used to. I have pasta a few times a year, pizza, I almost never eat. Maybe once a year. I used to drink a ton of calories. Lots of soda, gallons of juice, not too much alcohol, and anything else sweetened. Now all I drink is water. Over the years I've slowly changed my eating habits, I refuse to call it a diet - those only fail. I am a vegan, that just makes eating harder, not less caloric. I also have Celiac, that is a blessing is disguise as I can't eat most bread. I have a lot more veggies in my life than the past. I rarely eat things like french fries or other garbage food. I do slip up - a lot. There is a vegan fast food place I walk past on the way to my car from work. They have the most amazing chocolate chip cookies. Every now and then I stop in for a couple. I enjoy them immensely, and do not feel the least bit guilty. I do try to plan them around an activity. For instance, yesterday I ate two, but did a hard ride. Tonight, I will eat anything I want as I am going on a 5 hour hill ride tomorrow. I burn off thousands of calories. I think many people "replace" calories they think they burn off. I used to when I first started riding. This too I think sabotages many people. I'll be doing the Mt Washington century in two weeks. It's long and grueling. I'll burn over 3k calories. There is no way I will replace that. I'll drink about 600 calories while I ride, and have chews for maybe another 200 calories. I'll eat a small breakfast, almost nothing for lunch, and likely a veggie dinner. I'll probably lose at least 5 pounds because of that. I don't do that on purpose, I do it because I am not in the habit of replacing calories. I will not starve, I probably won't even be hungry. So much about me is in a better place now. I am down almost 15 pounds for the year and about 70 from my heaviest about 10 years ago. I rarely go up more than a few pounds. I plan to keep losing be continuously refining how I eat. My cholesterol has dropped almost 100 points, My resting pulse went from the mid 90s to the mid 60s. I took blood pressure medication for decades, I no longer need that. My mental status has improved greatly. Sadly, I think most, and I really mean most, of what people eat is pure garbage. Tons of calories, almost no nutrition. Does it taste good? Of course. I'd love a yummy meatball sub smothered in cheese. Probably more calories than I eat in a day. I haven't had one in at least a dozen years, and likely never will again.

  31. I'm glad you're persevering! It's not easy. I went from 294 to 231 in 18 months in 2013-14, became sedentary with hip, shoulder, and other problems and was 280 this past winter and am 255 now. I did it by calorie counting. I went on sparkpeople.com and used its calculator to determine how many calories I should eat per day to lose weight at a certain rate. It worked for me. I need to get more exercise to avoid losing muscle mass, but otherwise it's going ok. I hope to be around 240 by the end of the year and under 220 the following year. If I get part of the way there, it's still worth it.

  45. Well Dottie..there are 2 of you...You are not alone in that struggle..There are so many things I just cook..and no matter how hard I try..it is more than a meal for 1...somethings..great package the leftovers..freeze some, take some to work for lunch..but dang sometimes I eat that extra 1/2 to an entire extra portion..especially if alcohol is added It takes work and determination to put that leftover aside and let it be a leftover...lunch or dinner
