It was cold today! Not used to it yet, and probably underdressed. I think temp was around 44°, but it was cloudy and damp. Tossed sunflower seeds to the woodland creatures, helped HoSmudge here and there with new corn feeder barrel, and generally dinked around. I got the ok for the spot for my bike shed. I was hoping for a spot closer to the camp door, but HoSmudge said he didn't want it in the woods. Ah, ok. Then how about this spot? Sure. (It will be where my bike is lying.) I measured out an 8x6 and 8x8. HoSmudge says there's a lot of paperwork to change the proposed plans from 8x6, but I'm going to do it anyway. It'll be 8x8.... The 8x6 would be too snug... I started dinkin' around on my bike and ended up riding some deer trails. Guess what deer do on their trails besides walk? Ew... It actually got much worse cuz I kept riding on these trails. Oh well, I was in the woods... While I was out there, I found someone's stash. Maybe it belongs to this guy... So I ended up riding some on the road and then explored a two-track I found. Unfortunately, I didn't ride fast enough to fling off the deer poop, so I scraped with a stick. And I found someone's pelvis (I think) And now we're almost home. Truck to unload, and kitties to feed.5 points

I’m off today. See that white spot in the trees in this picture? That is the roof of a barn on what was a farm until the federal government took all the land almost up to the barn. I almost bought that farm, only12 acres left about 20 years ago. The farmhouse had a second floor with kids bedrooms. The ceilings were too low for me to stand up in. I thought about how hard the remodel would be and passed it up. It would have been nice.4 points

When I was winterizing my pool I found an old nerf football under the deck in the mud. I didn’t try to wash it, I just threw it away.3 points

Tut.....tut....you are being overly cynical. People will always pay if it's to save time....always, and it's nothing to do with intelligence, it is merely just another human trait. That said.....I do look down and spit on them anyway.3 points

I could make this thread story worse by allowing that womaxx used the store diced onions in a White Chicken Chili make with a rotisserie chicken and canned beans.2 points

Garlic Powder! I still do my own onions and do keep garlic cloves but unless I'm making something that really must have fresh garlic I use garlic powder.2 points

This is actually what I want. A long long time ago I worked in a Friendly Ice Cream store and I noticed that I preferred the raw onions that were chopped in the morning and then sat in those little trays that the cook uses to hold condiments and stuff. They retain a good flavor but mild out some of the bitterness. Quite good for putting on a hamburger or hot dog. Good for simple cooking as well. On the other hand, if I'm doing something like a stew where I want large onion pieces I just quarter a small onion and peal the layers apart.2 points

I don't know but it seems to me that Sheepherder's posts are all too wholesome and healthy somehow, and this makes me feel uncomfortable. I'd feel much better if he could post a few showing him watching crap TV while munching on Hershey bars and drinking cheap beer......just saying.2 points

Yes, I think that is how it starts. Same for Mrs. Mooseworth. So far we haven't tried any pre-diced onions, but she does pre-grated cheese all the time. Once or twice she bought the store version of grated carrots and they were horribibble - grated too fine so they rotted very quickly. The more roughly grated ones made by the carrot companies are much mo better - actually more of a shoestring cut. Taste great and last a reasonable few weeks.2 points

I still do onions but I buy chopped garlic in quart jars. It’s too much work peeling and chopping garlic.2 points

Starting the repair process by having a salad tonight, with an apple for desert. One of the books I read said whenever you are hungry and must eat, eat an apple!2 points

Yes, very good, thanks! Yeah, I've gotta remember to go back to ignoring the weather forecast! We got two rides in. On one I flatted about 8 miles out, so had to walk aboot 3 miles back to a trailhead to be picked up Next time we gotta bring tire repair stuff and a portable pump. The new tube held up for a short ride on Sunday - never found the cause, couldn't get the tube to bubble underwater. I assumed it is subpar rim tape - all cheap bikes seem to use rubber rimstrips that barely cushion the tube from the spoke ends. I just used electrical tape because there were no bike shops to get rim tape from.2 points

Odd in that my airbags never deployed but I got hit at a 45 degree angle just in front of my drivers side front wheel and the impact pretty much tore the front of my car off. Not sure if aurbqgs should have gone off or not. But yeah the car was mangled and I walked away without a scratch so that says something...2 points

More off than usual, but not because of Columbus Day. I have lots of vacation to use up before the end of the year, and this time of year is the shiznitz!2 points

Hmm - my body weight recently flowed, sort of like a hurricane in fact! Too many forced instances of dining oot. Definitely a sawtooth pattern! What goes up in a few days takes a few multiples of that time to come back off. I definitely need better coping skills with dining oot. Salads with dressing on the side for one thing, but many times they are no better or even worse than other choices.2 points

Good work indeed! I've hit a bit of a wall and keep going up and down 2-3 pounds. I either need to stick religiously to my diet and drop a few or add some more exercise. I too am at that resistance stage so if I don't gain and keep at it.... it will come off over time. I gotta show that belly who is boss!2 points

Jack is off. Rode 40 miles on the W&OD near Leesburg. Foggy out this morning. I have to wash the bike now, it is filthy. I had a @Longjohn lunch at the Delirium Cafe. A glass of Delirium Tremens and a Delirium Argentum with a basket of frites. Quite good, wish you were here.2 points

Soccer is also know as Ladies Football. Pardon my Non PC sexist remark. I said that to my Italian tailor, and ended up with pants with 2 different length legs. My alma mater, University of Buffalo won Saturday. and our pro team the Bills won yesterday 13-12 over the Tennessee Titans. Combine that with a 3-1 NHL win Saturday and it was a great sports weekend in Western NY.2 points

Yes I have.... and I have rarely met with something I don't like. I do have a particular liking for Chinese food however as now, at my age, I now find it easier to digest. As a young soldier, I once ate, as part of a 24-hour ration pack, tinned steak and kidney, tinned bacon and egg and as desert...Golden syrup pudding. This was all stirred together in one mess tin with added curry powder and eaten in the middle of an extremely hot desert in Trucial Oman. I haven't been fussy about food since though I do have a liking for fine dining it's true.2 points

I did mine myself with the kit from Lowe's. New floor, Etched it with muriatic first, rinsed & let it dry. Easy-peasy. 11 years later it still looks very good. PSA: don't install it in August in Atlanta.2 points

There is very little I won’t try. I will even try a food I didn’t like if it has been prepared a different way. If I’m asking questions about the food, it is because I am enjoying it and want to learn what I can about it.2 points
