Amazing does not seem to cover the experience. Griffin met and talked to all kinds of pros. He raced his heart out. His buddy George from his team actually won in the 11-12 year olds! Griffin can say he’s trained with a National Champ! He met met the winner for the 75+ category who was a monster! So cool to talk to. She gave him so many life tips and good advice. I had to hold back tears listening to her. He raced so well. Finished 63 out of 94. (Though I think it was actually higher than that). He got pulled off lead lap so races didn’t get behind. Solid rear of the main pack. He NEVER gave up and smiled the whole time. Conditions were shit. See my vids on Facebook. Horrid mud/rain. It was so much fun and he was beaming from ear to ear the entire time. Ellen Noble Katie F’ing Compton11 points

She was walking a dog around and just came up to G. He asked if she won her race and she said yes. I was kinda snickering until I saw the Stars and Stripes Jersey under her jacket. I was thinking “holy shit, she’s not joking. “. Griffin was telling her that he prob can’t make Nats next year because it’s in Tacoma she told him that’s where you’re wrong, if you’re meant to be there you’ll find a way. Start saving now to help your dad pay for it. never judge a book by it’s cover!8 points

My goal this year was 6063 miles which would of beat my old record of 6062 by 1 (back in 2009). I'm at 6248 I've been hitting it pretty hard the last couple of months and the mild weather is helping a lot. It feels nice to be back at this level.6 points

Just about all of the good ones. G had a pit bike. A dad from the team was his pit crew. They had four or five pressure washers running non stop. G pitted twice a lap. The dad would take dirty bike and run to a pressure washer to wash it off and have it clean just in time for G to roll back through on a muddy bike and trade out. Then the cycle would start again. No all heros wear capes?5 points

Ha! It's not infrequent I see a guy with his belly on the top tube of a vintage bike blasting past me. Makes me long for a frame pump. ?5 points

I don't keep track, but I ride nearly every day. I rode a bunch of centuries, mostly on gravel. I did 4 races and a couple of 3-4 day bikepacking trips. It was a good year for riding.4 points

No ideer, probably in the neighbourhood of 500 or so. Met my goal of no crashes and enjoyed almost every ride. :)4 points

I have only been riding twice a week for several months now since I started back with serious riding. Some weeks it's only 26 miles. Some weeks it's 45 miles. But rather than just pedal around it's been as fast as I can go, so my average speed is up 2-3mph (16-18mph). Last time I checked the ODO it was around 425. I guess the computer is still on the bike, as I haven't seen it since the crash. For that matter I don't know what shape it's in at all, but as the hip heals I'll get to it and get it ready for when I'm all healed up.3 points

You only own 3 hoodies? That’s your first mistake. Don’t blame WoChrisL for your lack of planning.3 points

His preppie school agility coach made it to the finals at the National Agility championship in Orlando. Young dog, amazing accomplishment. Great experience for both of them. Lindy did really stand and watch them when I was watching round 4 on the AKC TV. First picture is them at the breed table. Picture two is Siren checking out the venue. Itis massive and overwhelming.3 points

I'm just one ride away from hitting 1000 miles. That's not great compared to a lot of people, but it's the best year I've had in quite a while.3 points

I rode just over 2000 miles this year. Not my best but better than the last couple of years.3 points

All in all, riding is good for me, as long as I stay upright. It is actually one of the few activities that I do that doesn't hurt. I'll stick with it as long as it is relatively pain free. I love the sense of movement and freedom that cycling has always afforded me. I was a cyclist from the time my dad gave me my first bike, 61 years ago. I guess I always will be.3 points

Smudge deserves at least an honorable mention. She’s got spunk. More frequent posting would put her right up there.3 points

Great 45 mile ride w/ my friend. We rode into Corktown (Detroit) to a coffee shop . Sunny and in the lower 40s. Then we visited the Church of Scientology wonder if Tom Cruise was there Christmas in the D and the statue of our own @Thaddeus Kosciuszko2 points

Wow, it took four hours for someone to take the bait. I held back because I wasn’t sure how to do it without offending anyone. You did fine.2 points

Stir fry that was vegetarian (though I didn't really consciously plan that): shanghai boy choy, cauliflower, red pepper, rehydrated dried bean curd sheets, rehydrated lily buds, onions, garlic, mushrooms with a light noodle. Then now a fresh half persimmon, banana and matcha tea. The world feels right.2 points

Wow you were riding your bike while missing in action from the forums. You were pretty discouraged bout riding before you left. Injuries and persistent aches and pains that were crash related seemed to be making you wonder it it was worth it to continue to ride. I was already wondering the same thing about myself. After one orthopedic surgeon said he was unable to help me with my shoulder injuries I could still ride but was unable to swim. I wonder what abilities I might lose on the next crash. My PCP hooked me up with a shoulder specialist that did surgery that got my shoulder working again. I rode my bike this summer but less miles than I have in the last 13 years. No century rides this year, two 60 mile organized rides and maybe a dozen thirty something mile rides around the neighborhood. I did a lot of lake kayak miles this year. I’ve never crashed a kayak.2 points
