  3. Well today, it finally happened. I had to squish Ylva's brains. I also steam rolled her during our nap today. It was fun! Naturally this should be a somber moment with deep inner reflection but I find myself oddly satisfied. I really truly enjoyed the experience. Don't worry folks, Ylva is safe and she is currently playing with one of the cats. But she's like ten times more smarter now after "The Squishering". Also to note, Ylva barked at a plastic bag that was swimming through the breeze today. She's absolutely brilliant. She's the smartest dog in Rochester Proper. Couch

  6. We had a dog that everything had to be normal. If my in-laws were coming and my wife moved her car from where she normally parks and parked it further away so her mom and dad wouldn't have to walk as far the dog wouldn't stop barking at that car being in the wrong place. He also barked at a Mylar helium balloon that drifted in from who knows where and got caught in one of our rose of Sharon bushes. And oh my if I put on a balaclava to work outside in the cold, this dog wanted to eat me. I would take off the mask and talk to the dog and he calmed down, as soon as I put it back on with him watching me he would go ballistic again.

  8. Not sure. I am thinking within the next 7 years. I was talking to a co-worker about the idea of a kiosk replacing me. Some of the questions that I get are quite complex. The human element is not easy to replace. By the time this could come online, I should already be out the door. 4 years, 3 months and 5 days. Not that I am counting or anything.

  11. What a sweet story, Wilbur. It's funny the memories that certain items can bring back. When my nephew graduated from college he wore a tie that my Dad always used to wear on special occasions and it was really nice to see it again.

  13. To give you a serious answer, I like winter. I can't imagine living somewhere that doesn't have snow for a good part of the year. Today I rode my fatbike in a national forest and nordic skied in a national park. Tomorrow I might downhill ski at the #1 ski resort in the country. I can do this all winter long, not just occasionally while on vacation. In the warmer months, I can roll out my front door to mt bike trail one block away. I ride my road bike to two national parks. During the month of April, the park is ours exclusively. No cars. Climbing, hiking, biking, skiing are hard to beat here. How often do you get to do these things? Living in suburbia would drive me crazy. To each his own, but being close to a Costco does nothing for me.

  14. Music? You can thank me later, and be sure to tune in to Lonnie Bell Country Classics from 9:00am - 12 noon MST Sunday morning. The show is hosted by Ed McEntire, one of the local weathermen in Billings. You might even hear me make a request.

  16. So I went to church this AM and the snow just came down..big flakes almost a white out..just on the drive into church...So 90 minutes...maybe and I cleared off a good inch or so of snow from my car....Then it was off to Planet Fitness..still snowing steadily but the flakes had gotten just a tad smaller. Did 16 minutes on the treadmill and then a modified weight workout...2 sets and I left a couple of things off..but I added a couple from our last workout Felt pretty darn good.... I am hoping our big snows and interruptions to my workout are done for the season..but hey I think I have had a good rest. Snow continues to fall....this is the "Sunday Storm"...must be about 4 inches....who knows if Tuesday will bring 6 or 10 We have gone from being below average...to normal or even above in the last 2 weeks.

  17. Ok. A sister sent me a videoclip last wk. It was a 9 yr. old nephew playing guitar in a coffeehouse trio folk song performance with 2 other guys in their 40's. I had no clue he was playing guitar. Lots of things happen in a family especially when they live far away.

  18. Update: I ordered the Breezer Doppler Team from Bike Nashbar. It was 10% off. Looks like BN is closing down. I also tried to buy some water bottle cages but the web site doesn't list them or much of anything else except for a few bikes.

  20. She's not Jewish, Wilbur. She's an idiot. I don't know why AWWC likes to Jewish up things that are clearly not Jewish. The boy has severe mental issues, I suppose. And he's not Jewish either. Please don't let him fool you. He's good people though. He's just more than mildly crazy. But like I mentioned before, he's good. Mostly. Couch

  25. I plan on making a lot of guys angry like last year (that's why I wear a helmet... also it hides the ugly nicely) ... For the last two years I rode around on my motorcycle and at stop light I would get off the bike and run car to car handing out childish Valentine cards to ladies.. It makes people smile, and some of their guys friends find it either funny or it really makes them mad This year I will be handing this card out to about 70 lucky ladies... I did did not magically come up with that number... IT's because that's all the card stock sheets I had on hand when I made the cards... If the new shipment comes in before that big day.. I might make a different set... but for now this is the one they will be getting.

  26. I took a pair of my fathers shoes he had when I was a kid. Some really nice dimpled leather Imperials. Full wing bluchers from Florsheim. Back in the days when Florsheim made nice shoes for the masses. I had them resoled and they came out pretty nice. I almost don't want to wear them.

  27. It’s like déjà vu all over again. No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded. Baseball is 90% mental and the other half is physical. A nickel ain’t worth a dime anymore. You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I’m not hungry enough to eat six. The future ain’t what it used to be.

  33. Cool story about one eyed willie. We had been feeding some cats for several years. They were not really our cats but they were fairly tame and we fed them because they were hungry. When we sold our house and we’re getting ready to move we were trying to figure out what to do with the cats. Some friends in our home school group had a farm and they said they could take them all. They like to have lots of barn cats. We managed to round up all the cats we could find and took them to their new home. We loaded up the moving truck and were on our way. The only thing left to move were some odds and ends and everything in the shed. We came back and started loading stuff from the shed and found two tiny little black kittens. They were hungry and scared. One kept hissing at us. We moved them with us to the new home and took them to the vet for shots and neutering. The scary one we named Bad Boy because he thought he was tough. He mellowed out and became the sweetest cat. We had him for many years.

  35. I had a pair of hiking boots that the sole blew out..I went to a repair place and the guy explained that the man made materials in hiking boots and athletic shoes breaks down over a few years...I had the hiking boots for probably 6 or 8 years..and they were expensive...but the repair guy said not worth the expense...due to the material breakdown...which I am guessing what happened with your Nikes..... Leather soles ...sweet...

  39. We live in sad times. Back in the 70's, if RG found himself in this position, he'd form a band in his parent's carriage house. Write a few pop tunes, go on Dick Clark, make a quick million. Much like Sugarloaf.

  41. Athletic shoes and work boots. About the time the boot's soles give out, the water resistance is gone too. I recently bought a pair of nice shoes, I likely won't wear them enough to ever have to have them resoled.

  42. Resole, since I wear braces and have custom boots; I don't have what you would consider nice shoes and my running shoe days are over. I was wearing shoes made by Drew, but something changed in the manufacturing process, and the boot maker's glue would no longer work for reattaching soles to the shoes. In time the whole sole started coming apart.

  44. I worry a lot about RG. Not about mental stability or anything. He has that in spades. Really a rock solid and fun guy. He is having more than his share of challenges right now and I wish I could step in and make his problems go away. He needs a job, needs cash, and probably needs to get out of NYC for a sanity break and breathing space.
