  3. I've had my old HP G62 for ten years. That's a good run I'd guess. It has been flawless for the most part. It even outlived three mouse's, two batteries and two power supplies. Recently though it has started overheating while in google maps and while I edit gopro videos. Last week I started having trouble accessing google chrome, now I'm blocked out totally. After working at it myself for a few hours, and after my IT gal (Mrs) couldn't figure it out, she gave up too . The last straw was when Mrs tried to update the malware and found there was no more space left. Anyway, we gave up trying to keep this one on life support and ordered a new HP Premium Pavilion and added upgraded HDD and SSD (whatever that is?) so its several times better, stronger and faster than my old one. Now I need to move into the 21st century and learn windows ten too. I don't do change well.

  9. 61st Daytona 500 is today. I've seen at least part of every one. Early on that consisted of 1 or 2 15 min segments in black and white on ABC's wide world of sports. Some were viewed in a teletheater setting watching on the giant screen. I've been to the speedway on numerous occasions along with the associated museum. I've gone around the track in excess of 150 miles per hour average (lap 2) and there's a right rear tire from a Rusty Wallace race car in my workshop waiting to be turned into some sort of coffee table. But I've never been there for the actual race. Like the super bowl this race dominates the entire area surrounding it. When I was in Orlando on or about the weekend of the race, parking lots at hotels would be full of tractor trailers with spare race cars and parts that didn't fit into the speedway. I flew out one Friday on the weekend of the race and the airport was full of people coming into Orlando from all over the country. There are better places to be for races during the NASCAR season, but the hype and spectacle make this one special.

  10. His Cheeseness pocket dialed me! Who else amongst us can say the same. One day I hope to achieve a level where he will talk to me instead of just making me say "Hello" over and over.

  11. It’s an excellent album. My older siblings loved The Beach Boys and it played often in our house.

  12. You’re probably wondering where in Buffalo do they have palm trees in the mist. I actually had to get up at 3:30 this morning to fly to the bottom of the country -Mississippi- for this picture.

  13. Actually, for a track like Daytona, probably the best seat in the house is on TV. At the track, it's so big that you tend to miss things because you are looking somewhere else or because the action is a mile away behind a tower or building. Nascar, the business, has brought technology to the track. You can rent a tablet like display that is linked to everything going on during the race. You can watch from inside a car or listen to the drivers, all while being at the live race. IMO the best part of actually going to the track is not the race, but all the surrounding stuff that's going on.

  18. At the same time, many men are opting for a single life. Being a couple isn't for everyone and some don't let it define them or their worth as a person. We raised our daughters to be independent and gave them life skills their boyfriends don't have. Mostly basic home renovation skills, minor auto repairs and gardening/ landscaping. I work with a lot of people with a lack of commitment to their partners and didn't want my daughters to be reliant on one of those to get by.

  21. Yes-this. I moved out of NASCAR country a few years back. I’m here in Mississippi trying to blend in. Is a Truex a steering part, or some kind of maneuver?

  24. ...it got played on the radio a lot, even where I grew up those years in D.C. I think that the kids from the VA and MD suburbs probably heard it more than I did, because I lived over in the SE ghetto, and Motown/James Brown was pretty much what was going around over there. When I hear it now, it makes me nostalgic for a California that my wife tells me never really existed.

  25. We bought my wife a killer Lenovo Yoga, but she has always complained aboot the keyboard, the placement of the shift keys or somesuch. The lack of a numeric keypad is surprisingly annoying on my old Dell laptop.

  31. My cousin didn’t meet the right guy until she was over 50. Sadly, she was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer a few months after they married. She passed away a little over a year after. My son is 33. He has a number of friends who are girls from the running community. Sometimes ha has missed cues from girls interested in him. He has a unique personality and it may be tough to find a match. But you never know. There is a single lady my wife and I have known and been friends with for years. She’s attractive and relatively secure financially. Never married though I know she has had some serious relationships. She has been in our cycling group for a couple years. WoW teases me that she is my “girlfriend in waiting” because of the interest she shows in me. Yet the more I am around her the more I remember why I didn’t ask her out when we were single.

  32. One of my neighbors "forgot" to pay her takes for a couple of years. She's paying off $50,00 plus fines and interest. She's the neighborhood cat lady.
