  1. Fourth doctor visit for my hip. I have been on one crutch for a month now. X-rays were good and I was cleared for full weight bearing on that leg. The PA asked have I walked on it yet. Nope. Too scared I was going to screw it up. He said take a few steps. That was scary as my leg felt like it was going to give way on the first step. Four steps one way. Limping. Four the other way. Limping. He said that's normal. I left the office and walked slowly to the truck carrying my crutch. Still limping. Then when I got home there were the two flights of stairs I had to deal with, but I refused to use the crutch. It's amazing how much strength I've lost in my dominant leg in just three months, and how the left leg has taken over. I'm going to ride my island bike to the 'Y' today (I usually walk but I think that's a little too much yet) and start working on that leg and pick it up on the rest of what I used to do. Don't tell WofTy, but I'm going to sneak out next week and see how I do on the road bike. I got a new helmet.

  6. My dad's funeral was yesterday. He was cremated after. We will take his ashes to the Black Hills and spread them on the land where his Grandma's homestead was. The pastor laughed at the stories we shared. After deciding what we thought was OK for church, it looked like a redacted CIA document. The pastor edited further, before sharing with the guests. Lunch was sandwiches from the church ladies. Last night we went to a local brewery for dinner then back to our house and told more stories about dad. When I have a little more energy, I will share a few..

  13. After we discussed the Snarky Teas in another thread, Petite very thoughtfully sent me some of the Calm the F*** Down tea that I mentioned looked interesting. It's been a hectic time at work, so her timing was perfect. It's a very smooth green rooibos tea which tastes almost like an herbal tea. There's a fruity taste to it, but more smooth than tangy. And the coconut helps with the smooth taste, but isn't a strong coconut flavor. While you could drink it at anytime, it seems particularly nice in the evening. As nice as the tea is, Petite is even nicer for her thoughtfulness and generosity

  14. You hit a nerve, I think. Honestly, people took my sassy comment about the men on this site being fail and old, better than your comment about HI residents are stupid. Possibly, I am just cuter and have better delivery.

  19. I noticed a change when I was observing you at work through the camera on your monitor. When that obnoxious other employee came by to bother you, instead of jumping up and beating the shit out of her you calmly looked at here and quietly mouthed "fuck off". Very impressive.

  20. The state, or the island? This trip was less about retirement research, as I got a conference rate for my hotel for the entire stay, so it was ocean-front luxury hotel living instead of any attempts at a long-term financial feasibility study. I did find the Wiamea area actually more expensive than Maui or Kauai, rivaled only by Honolulu in cost. If I had been in Kona (or Hilo), prices would have been more “reasonable”. I still don’t know if it’s going to be a 3-4 week per winter “snowbird” plan, or an actual year-round move. That will depend, in part, where my kids live after college. My youngest is just finishing freshman year of High School, so there is time to figure this out. Also, my current job has sweet perks for my kids’ college costs, so if the younger stays local for school, I’ll be tied here for a few years beyond that. The other part is whether I want to work there after I move, or just use it as a vacation/retirement getaway. That would also be influenced by how affordable health care will be, as I am just a little further away from being Medicare eligible than you are. So that would influence which island I moved to, if I did plan to achieve employment in my professional field. So... Maui in November, Kauai in February are my current investigational plans for 2019/2020. Working there would more likely mean Oahu, while just living or snowbirding my current preference would be Kauai.

In times like that I have to drink more water, slow down to be more methodical and focused in my speech. the scary thing is that it is mostly a guess. They don't really know much about MS. Aww, thanks. You inspire me to be a better person. Your warmth shows in your posts. Just keep walking forward, even if am limping.
