  1. I only went 4 miles on my first ride in ages on a beautiful but windy day to see if all my body parts were responding as hoped - and it looks good so far. My out-of-shape legs, trapezius and lower back muscles were a little sore as I expected. I'm going to take my time getting them and everything else back in shape! Here's the end of ride picture a woman walking the trail was kind enough to do for me to mark the occasion. I wore a windbreaker during the ride but didn't need it afterward. This is at Sawmill Creek Park on the other side of the fence from the Baltimore & Annapolis Bike Trail. I averaged about 10 mph while moving on my 32 lb mountain bike and that's fine. My cadence sensor wasn't working and I stopped a few times to try ti adjust it. Apparently the battery was dead. I picked up a new CR-2032 battery on the way home and my Garmin Edge 510 recognized it, so I think I'm ok for next time. I stayed in 2nd front gear at what I think was around my usual 70 rpm cadence and got a good aerobic workout but no very-heavy breathing. My heart rate never hit my 90%-of-max 144 but averaged a little higher than wished at 132, but that was expected. Because the cadence sensor was out, I had to rely on GPS for speed measurement and it gets a little goofy on that part-woods trail - I guarantee I never reached 109.4 mph! The sharp drops in heart rate are red lights or stop signs when I crossed roads and the climbs are uphill - the biggest one coming right at the end. This is from the old Garmin "Training Center" software that I find more user friendly for simple stuff than the online info:

  2. WOLJ is starting to eat again and her favorite thing is crudités. I have prepared them for her three days in a row at her request. Tonight I gave her a little bit of chicken stir fry too. She liked the veggies the best.

  3. So a resident came to get me to check on another resident (a resident coordinated morning check system)..On the way to this lady's apartment, she asked "Are you losing weight?" Then she wanted to know how I was doing it..cos she wants to lose some too. I also havent worn these jeans for at least two or three months..and they are getting loose too. Scale still doesn't show much..but hey the comments and the clothes getting too big is great.

  4. A feminist asked me how I viewed lesbian relationships. Apparently, “In HD” was not the right answer.

  5. Earlier it was suggested HoSmudge should sleep on the couch because he wouldn't make a pie. Well, he's upstairs in bed, and I'm spending some quality time with Gray Cat. It's ok; Gray Cat is a great snuggle buddy. And my pie is cooling.

  7. Did my most recent session Tuesday and Today..takes me exactly an hour to run through this particular routine that is 2 sets rather than 3...except I have skipped doing the ropes at the end because that area of the gym has been occupied by several people....I will ask 1 person if they can move but not a group I did about 12 minutes on the treadmill as a warm up....trying to get back in the groove after a few days off after shingles shot #2. Gotta hit the next few workouts...see the trainer next Thursday... Mick got a ride in...anyone else?

  12. Truth be told I have some pickle relish left over from the baseball snack bar days. Assuming it’s from my sons Senior year it’s 3 years old... But who knows maybe it’s from Jr High! Oh and my SIL eats it every time we make burgers!!!! ?

  22. In the 70s, I picked up this hitchhiker. She was going to a bar, and I said great. When we got there, I thought I had died and gone to heaven, I was the only guy there, and there were dozens of women. Back then, I didn't know from gay bar. But I got the idea when a drop dead gorgeous Latina sauntered out with a good looking dame on each arm. That was when I realised there would be no joy in Mudville on this nite.

  24. Pickles tend to get soft and soggy after a number of years. I think they are still safe to eat but who would want to? When my pickled jalapeños get soft I run them through the blender and use them for making bbq sauce.

  34. I got some heavy duty Pepcid yesterday. Took the first one after dinner, better late than never, eh. I got a couple hours sleep, woke up 3ish, made tea, and got on the treadmill. Nothing dramatic, it was my first time in a couple weeks. Took a nap a little later, and my wife (who can't drive at the moment) said she wanted out of the house. I was feeling right as rain, I even made a cup of coffee. So I said sure, we'd been meaning to run up to Freeport for a month, so without telling her where we were going, we went there. Neither of us found anything at Beans, the Med Grill was closed, so we tried a new Jamaican place, which was just ok. On the way out of town, I got a loaf of mango, pineapple, raisin, pecan bread. It's pretty good. So while the day didn't produce memories, it was in the 40s, the sun was shining, and I felt almost human. I feel a lot better, although the combination of coffee, chocolate and jerk is testing the abilities of the Pepcid. I'm making bbq for dinner. Hey, never said I was sane.

  35. Bateman still pops up occasionally on TV or in movies, and she has also worked as a fashion designer at her own Justine Bateman Designs. Beginning in 1993, she spent a decade battling anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive overeating. Cured with the help of born-again Christianity, she is now available for paid speaking engagements on the topic of health and wellness.

  36. With the snowicane and flooding in the area, tried to do some time on the hamster wheel. Did about a mile and my body rebelled. Breathing was uncomfortable. Did 20 minutes on the trainer. High cadence medium effort. Called it a day. Supposed to be nice enough to maybe ride this weekend if the water recedes as forecast.
