The story behind what it's doing there is a long one. Today was new car day. Yay! We dealt the old 2008 Kia Rondo, which we have had since new, and put 222.000 trouble free kilometers on. The Rondo is no longer made, but we have had two Kia's in a row with no issues, so we are somewhat brand loyal now. The new one is a 2019 Sportage, which I'm sure we are going to love. I had an appointment with the local U Haul depot to install a receiver hitch, which we need to mount our bike rack. We need it done now, because we are due to leave on a trip Sunday morning, and we go nowhere without our bikes. Anyhoo, I dropped it off in time for the 2:00 o'clock installation appointment, and one of their employees gave me a ride home, a short 5 minute jaunt. They were to call me when it was done, and someone would come and get me. When 4:30 came, and no call. I started to get uneasy. I tried calling, but all I got was the old,"all agents are busy", and then listened to 5 minutes of U Haul commercials with nobody picking up the phone. So, since there is a bus that runs every half hour that goes pretty much from my door to theirs, I decided to scoot over and check out the situation. When I saw the car still parked where I put it with no hitch installed, I realized my uneasy hunch was well founded. Long story short, one of the two installers failed to show up for work, and the other had some urgent matter that required his attention elsewhere, so no hitch today. Some frantic calls were made, and the manager agreed to come in tomorrow on his day off and do the installation. Meanwhile, I need a vehicle for the morning, so they gave me the van to do my running around. I really hope this comes together tomorrow, because we do no wish to delay our departure. Stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of this adventure.9 points

Tonight I will go to Cracker Barrel. I will not complain. I will not whine about waiting in line. I will be grateful that our dear friend is still with us and able to pick The eating establishment.8 points

But I like the way my shoes fell to the ground after I kicked them off post ride. This is how I feel right now in a picture...8 points

Congrats on the new car. Now take advantage of temporarily having a heavy duty cargo van and pic up your spring garden plants, top soil, mulch, help your neighbor's move their couch, take scrap metal to the scrap yard or some such.6 points

I’m still floating around a flooded lake. All the access points are closed do to flooding. Why do the call it a flood control dam if they can’t even keep their campground from flooding? I am absolutely the only person on the lake today. I drove down an old abandoned railroad bed to get here.5 points

So RO's mom was sick and asked me to again take RO for a couple hours today, which then turned into much of the day. Fine, I am happy to have RO. I picked her up, and she is wearing a "Brooklyn Pride Family" t-shirt, complete with the rainbow. Yippee. Those of you who know me well know that I am socially very liberal, I don't believe we have any reason to deny people the right to bang each other into oblivion, whether it is two dudes or two chicks, whatever. You wanna get married? Have at it, it doesn't affect me or anyone else in any way. That said, that is a bit different than being a walking billboard, and a child should not be roped into social justice warrioring for any purpose, I feel. The shirt she was wearing was black and is kinda similar to this, but without the purple text and such and it said "Brooklyn Pride Family" or somesuch I didn't say anything about, but I might ask that she not be dressed in it again when I have her in the future, not sure. Am I wrong to be a bit put off by this? Again, I don't think kids should be used to express parent's views on social issues. Also, I really don't have a dog in this fight, and don't have any nearby friends or family who need constant support and validation of what is biological gene expression. Discus.2 points

First I have to get on my back to do the spine straight thingie. Then I have to contemplate the PT exercises I have to do for the shoulder trouble. Then after a suitable period of time and sufficient motrin I'll contemplate taking a nap.2 points

It's been raining for last few days and very windy. Today looks like a sliver of opportunity, so we'll go cycling from home to the north for an Italian deli meal plus shopping there.2 points

All my kids, their spouses, and I have had one or more KIAs or Hyundais. It's amazing how trouble free they have been. WoJSTL has been the only holdout as she drives a Nissan. Are you getting a 2" hitch? I wish that my car could take one as it would probably stop a lot of the swaying of my bike rack. I have to use a 2" adapter as the rack is 2" and that probably makes the problem worse.2 points
