  1. Went jogging round the lake this morning. I was feeling good, plodding along, not very fast but steady. Made it the whole way without having to stop to stretch. The high point was Coming up behind a couple walking, the guy says "move over Gena, runner coming up" That so beats the hell out of "are you OK ? should we call 911 ?"

  5. Mostly as a way to give my 36 year old son a life experience with his old man, I've signed the two of us up for a two day class where we get to hammer on some hot steel, and take home a couple of knives that we will make in the process. https://www.thak.ca/events/category/classes/blade-forging/ The shop where the course is held is a five minute walk from the house I grew up in, and where my mom still lives. I'm so looking forward to it, and my son is mighty stoked. It's a lot of money for two days, but I think the experience will be priceless, and give the lad something to look back on when I'm gone.

  8. What else do you expect me to do after finishing chores? Need to try and get to sleep early tonight so we can work sheep and take a trailer load to Billings tomorrow. Hope to get there early enough to see how my 'Old Man' photograph did at the Montana Fair in Billings.

  9. And I realize now how important Ylva's presence is. The cats have taken completely over the house. Anarchy is now in place. Meep ordered Male strippers. I kinda like it. Couch

  12. Baling hay, cleaning sheep, horse and cattle pens. Today we went and picked up a trailer load of calf hutches we bought.... maybe I should call them sheep hutches since that is who will be using them. Tomorrow we go to LaPorte to pick up a ewe we bought. Next week Monday and Tuesday will be at the sheep show at Indiana State Fair then Saturday will be showing at Michigan Fiber Festival. Will only be showing one ram lamb at those shows this year. Candy at MFF last year. She was reserve grand champion at the Elkhart County 4H fair this year.

  13. Well, change is normally bad. But if Ylva wants a treat, that's a good reason to modify waffle Sunday for a day.

  15. Yes, We started with these sheep because they make some of the nicest wool for hand spinners. We had been buying Shetland wool for WoD_P to spin. We do our own shearing, Washing, picking and some of the carding the wool. We now have enough that we are starting to sell a little roving ready to spin. WoD_P spins, dyes with natural products and knits items that she displays at the War of 1812 era reenactments that we take part in. Our granddaughters card wool at many of these events. Their school is very good about allowing them to go to take part in the school days. Ashley carding wool at Gathering at Five Medals. If you have looked at my other threads in the past you probably know that I blacksmith a those events. We have many pictures on facebook.

  18. The kids and I rode about 17 miles on a trail network that runs through two adjacent towns. Perfect day and they did great. 17 is a new one-day record for them. Meanwhile I'm at almost 160 miles over the last four weekends. Loving it.

  21. I don’t remember his Love Forum username, but Bill often said, “It is possible to examine an idea without embracing it.” And I have that statement on the wall of my classroom. So, it makes perfect sense that you love you some history without embracing nostalgia.

  23. BEAUTIFUL weather this Summer weekend. Truly SPECTACULAR. Hoping to get out again a little later, but so far have only taken the pup for a walk.

  24. Nah, I run 23's as well. Almost everyone I ride with runs 23's. Maybe one tubeless, the rest don't bother. Too sticky and messy. In 40 years of road cycling, I have been stranded once using tubes. Ride what you like, is my motto.

  33. Womaxx is out at a surprise birthday party for the evening so I cooked a couple of smallish tenderloin steaks on the grill for ysomaxx while he made us a baked potato and some sliced tomato. It was adequate to serve as a precursor for an ice cream sandwich.
