  2. Looks like we are going to have a wet one here. Wo46 got me up at 4:30 so I could go running with her but we are having severe thunderstorms at the moment so we are doing so treadmill run and some other workout. I know that I can run at any time of day but she is dedicated to her working out and she likes me to join her. We tend to push each other to go just a little bit harder.

  7. When my daughter signed up on the 5U soccer I agreed to help out as assistant coach. Well there were no takers for coach so I was made coach. Me to AYSO guy, but I don’t know squat about soccer. AYSO guy, they are 5 year olds, just go out & have fun. We called it bumblebee ball and we had a blast even though the coach was clueless...

  8. I did too. He screwed up my shoulders. 20 something trainers don't appreciate the limits of aging bodies. He was not a smart trainer.

  9. I did and will represent the DIY approach. Probably spent $1000. Shocked at the construction when I pulled the wall out. Additional work re-framing wall, adding insulation - none prior, changing PBC pipes to PEX, dual pane window.. Hate to think what it cost if had done...or the shortcuts they would take never to be seen until torn out.

  13. Just like T Ball! My fav T Ball story. I was coaching the competitive T ball (coach pitch) league. (this just means that we counted outs and kept score) Dude gets to the plate. Last time he put one down 3b line. We have 2 on, 1 out. I look at our 3rd baseman and tell her this "This boy hit your way last time. If it comes to you, field it and step on your bag. If it doesn't come to you go to your bag and be ready for throw." She excitedly replied "Look, I drew a sun around where I am supposed to stand!!!!" Me "That's awesome! PLAY'S AT ONE!!!"

  23. How about Colorado Springs? The Garden of the Gods provides some easy but impressive hikes. There are more challenging ones as well if that's what you want. The zoo is very nice and has a great view of the city. You can tour the USOC or the air force academy. The drive up Pike's Peak is interesting (or you could take the little train).

  27. Ok, what the hell. I’m going to do this. I believe most of you know about my gender issues. We may not always all get along. But we always mostly respect each other. The universe seems to have converged on me these last couple days. I am tired and worn down. My heart is heavy. This may repulse you, for those who’ve known me have seen the one I had to become. And even though he exists corporeal, the existence is somewhat illusion. Autumn begins this week. This is my childhood time of year - Halloween was the only time I have ever openly/publicly dressed as a girl. And those displays were always well received. Of course they were, it was Halloween. But to this kid, it meant more. Those times are still good memories. 10 years ago next month, at 44 years of age, after decades of creating a hyper masculine visage, I came out to my wife. What a landslide of emotion for us both. And a journey with no promises. 15 years ago this month, I penned this poem, after partially coming out to a counselor: “Me” I shall not now or ever be that me I dreamed myself to be for in that me I fear I see someone who isn’t really me in times of old when i was three i could not comprehend or see that someday I’d grow up to be less than the one I’d hope for me then one day at ten and three I learned to dream; thereby to see a hope of what may never be but dream I did, a me as she skip ahead to twenty-three becoming what I thought I’d be and finding more and more in me the swelling lie I’d someday see but time goes by at thirty-three a dreamer dies; there is no me in reflection now i only see someone else staring at me and now approaching forty-three slowly accepting who i see as no more or less the core of he who was she when I was three i look ahead to fifty-three and wonder what it holds for me will i dream another me and wake one day only to see that then I’m old at sixty-three no longer dreaming dreams of me my life has passed and then I’ll see only in death will I be free for life is like a web we weave our dreams assuredly deceive and teach us only to believe a lie of things not as they be and readily we seek to please the self of life who dreams of ease yet knowing only lies we tease and truth before us surely flees now i know my dream of me isn’t who i thought i’d see from depths of time peering at me the corpse of she... ...who was only three. - September 15, 2004 Today is bittersweet as the realization dawned on me that my poem written all those years ago would portend this future. Mostly, I’ve come to terms with the choices I have made. Mostly, my existence is who I am because ‘my world’ needs this person to be who he is. And because I love those who’ve been entrusted to me, I remain. But today, my heart breaks - for those affected by this topic; for all who know such despair, for the children who have no idea of their situation, only that they are someone that the world tells them they are not. But mostly, I weep for a little girl who never got the chance to grow up; who should have had parents like Jazz’s and Allie’s, who has been sequestered for 50 plus years in a protective haven that ever remains her prison. Tonight, I’ll drink to her and the beautiful woman she should have been allowed to become. She’d have been amazing.

  30. Myself I go a different route. I have a couple studio type spin bikes in the basement. I have a program called Les Mills. They have body pump classes, core classes, boxing, all on demand. They also do spin classes. A couple of times a week I do a spin class on one of my spin bikes and call it good. No watts, just sweat.

  33. Lots of places to take in the fall colors if you stay in between the mountains, west of the front range, east of the Collegiate Peaks. Pagosa Springs is a little more quaint than Durango and has a public use hot springs. East from there along the freeway are good day hikes and access to Continental Divide views. North and east takes you toward Wolf Creek Pass. North of Durango is the small hot springs town of Ourey. The drive there is twisty and very scenic. The springs are enjoyable. West of Denver are the ski towns. We were just at Breckenridge and Frisco. Lots of hiking and bike trails, both mountain and paved. Bike rentals easily available. Nestled in south central CO is a tiny whistle stop, Antonito, where you can board the Cumbres and Toltec steam train from Antonito to Chama, NM. They drive you back on a bus, or you can go halfway to Opher and then back on a train again. It’s a very scenic ride through the mountains on an 1800’s steam train.

  38. I’m not NY, I live in Pennsylvania. My wife wants me to do adventures as part of a group so I did the official New York State ride. They do it once a year and limit the ride to 500 riders. Usually no problem getting in if you register early. They truck your gear and feed you breakfast and dinner. A great organization. One of the most fun rides I’ve done.

  40. He’s not just saying this. It was a joy to watch how Z and Mrs. Z related to each other on the Adventure. I teased them a lot but I was impressed. Someone would ask has anyone seen the Zealots? I’d say the last time I saw them they were stopped by the waterfall and were smooching.

  41. We had a short list of three places, did drive bys with her. Poured over pics, discussed the pros & cons. There was another house that was pretty much move in able for her, but a tiny lot and close neighbors. I liked this one, but didn't push it, kinda pushed the move in ready one. She picked this one. The isolation issue surprised me, but I think it will be OK once we're moved. I like it a lot
