My dad drove up for his first visit at the new house. He arrived around 3:30. I arrived around 4:40. Approximately twenty minutes later, we were at the trap field where he showed me he still has it. (Dad- 49/50; everyone else- many fewer.) We came home to a dinner of Italian Wedding soup, his favorite. This morning, it is raining. I'll take him to Wegmans because he loves it. Then I'll make lasagna for Saturday's dinner . This afternoon, we will go shoot at the other club. I hope he meets some worthy adversaries there. In between, good conversation and some help with an issue Lindy and I are having on the agility course. Oh, and if it stops raining, they are supposed to start putting down sod and hydro-seed today!!! It is cool having him here to visit.16 points

In a Viper ACR Extreme, similar to this one. It's a barely street legal (probably illegal for so many reasons concerning noise etc) Track car of very limited production. This one was modified to over 1000 hp. I'm going to take a shower and change my shorts now.9 points

...and Kings Canyon/Sequoia NPs, and then a leisurely few days in SoCal. Gotta say, California continues to kick the azz of the rest of the US. Colorado or Utah might have given it a run for #1 if only they had access to an ocean. Anyway, a great place to visit and camp for a bit of rejuvenation. A shot from atop Sentinel Dome off over the valley and towards Half Dome: A view on our way down of Nevada Falls (and maybe Liberty Cap) as we walked down. And you have to respect the Captain! If you look close at El Capitan, can you spot the three climbers? I'll give you a hint, they are not on the shaded portion. ...and a side trip to Mono Lake and then the ghost town of Bodie.8 points

I was looking for something pretty specific as a back up bat for Em as she is growing. She swings the 32/22 Easton Ghost right now. They are prone to cracking so I wanted her to have a suitable backup. On the facebooks one popped up for sale this am. A Slugger Xeno of the same size and weight. What are the odds? And they are 1.6 miles from where I happen to be working in Louisville today. This thing looks brand new. And I got it for about 25% of the asking price new. Things work out pretty well sometimes.4 points

I swear I am the luckiest man alive! We just booked dirt cheap airline tickets to Boise, ID -- of all places -- for a mountain bike expedition right outside (inside?) city limits. She's awesome because she agreed to a bike vacation, a bike vacation in Boise, and to a bike vacation to Boise with no car. There are some AMAZING places to stay in old town for dirt cheap (same places often rent another hundred or two more in other cities) as well and we got one bordering one of the main mountain bike parks. There are 3 huge multiuse trail parks where we are staying that we can bike and most if not all continue into the foothills of the Sawtooths mountains. She has come a long way since our annual trips to Hawaii. Ever since I took her to Moab, UT she has become a MTB fan. The great thing about Boise is they also have a 20+ greenbelt paved trail system road biking along the river and through the city. It's a very bike friendly city. There aren't a whole lot of urban centers out there that support all the amenities and provide both road and MTB parks and trail systems.3 points

Pinot Grigio still seems to be popular for drinking and traditionally white is better with Italian tomato based dishes. Don't tell anyone but I use Firebrand Chardonay in my Italian cooking. I prefer reds for drinking. Chianti is nice but a good Barolo is very nice if your lasagna is meat based. Always serve a glass of Proseco before the food is served.3 points

RSVP with a +9. Since you're providing everything, you might as well use the venue for a party you actually want to attend.3 points

G ran a PR today. Big Xc meet in Columbus IN. This high school thing is really getting intense. His goal was to run 22 something this season. 2 weeks ago he ran a 23:08 in Louisville with side stitches that forced him to slow down at the end. Today no side stitches but he has some mild shin splints. There are only 3 freshmen on the team. The upperclassmen are running closer to 16 min races. So clearly he has work to do. But he has shaved about 4 min off his 5k time this season. I am pretty stinking proud.2 points
