  2. I have vacillated over the years. P&R is gone, it's likely permanent. News is also gone, as that almost always leads to politics. There will be no more P&R posts. True, I am not here as much as I used to be, but when I am, I will happily close threads that are P&R or what I am seeing more of is P&R bait. I will also happily hand out warning points. This is not censorship, this is what we as a community agreed upon at the inception of this site, that it would be a fun and friendly place for everyone. Let's keep it that way.

  5. We had a free yoga day, so I went last night. Our community is doing more healthy things. Free is good for our community. I gathered up my mat, 2 blocks, a my large bolster.. This is a lot of stuff. Looking everywhere in the garage, I could not find a bungee cord. I had to use this big motorcycle tie strap. That yoga mat is surprisingly heavy too. With all my crap secured to my bike, I head off for yoga, The people in their cars were staring at me. Not sure if they thought I was homeless with the mat, a large pillow and pannier bags below. The bike is too nice for me to look homeless, I mean it's a cheapo bike for me, but still it's a Giant with above average components. Maybe people were staring cause of all the stuff. Anyway, I get down there and we do yoga. The platform we used overlooks the lake. I think our teacher told us that the yoga style we were doing used water as an element. It felt like a warm summer night. the bugs were not too bad. The yoga was relaxing. Oh, someone drove by and screamed out from their car "I wanna join you!." But, they just kept driving. If they stopped, they could have joined us. The end.

  7. I lost my last bike computer on my way up the meet the folks for Petite’s Big Adventure a few years ago. I haven’t had another one since on any of my bikes. And you know, I’ve found I enjoy riding a little more not paying attention to the performance side of it.

  9. I just want shit that works. I only upgrade my old shit to new shit if my old shit quits working. I would much rather repair old shit to keep it serviceable than buy new shit if at all possible.

  14. I'm just the opposite. I have a bicycle built from new old stock parts based on an 8 speed drive train. I have the old Garmin square shaped Vivo Active because the was a great sale when the newest greatest version came out........before the newer newest greater than greatest version and ahead of the one that is replacing that. The dealership owned my car for almost a year before I bought it on sale because no one else liked the color. I have a darkroom lamp fixture over my painting booth that my father used in the 1940's. It's been converted from red to LED but otherwise is original. I love looking for things that used to be better than sliced bread after they've been replaced by even better because of the prices you can get. In a throw away society it pays to be cheap frugal.

  15. We had a great weekend at the Stone's Trace festival and rendezvous. I was blacksmithing with both my portable camp setup and in the shop. WoD_P was spinning and showing her natural dyed yarns. We sold some scarves, caps and iron items we made. School days were Thursday for 4th grade and Friday for 8th. Saturday and Sunday were open for the public. A little light rain fell on Sunday but we still had a record crowd for the 35 years this has been held. I didn't get any pictures of my own but have a few that I got from friends who took them. I expect I will get more when they have time to edit their pictures. Blacksmithing in the camp shop. Flag raising on Saturday morning. 2nd Kentucky regiment of volunteers. I am second from the left in the front row. You can only see my black had and rifle barrel over the far left in the rear row. Confederate reeenactors at the flag raising. Part of our camp is visible at the far right of this picture. About all you can see is the forge.

  16. You wanted to see more planes from the model shop in the secret lab so this one's for you. It's sort of an exotic as it isn't really the Storch that it looks like. It's a French copy, the MS500 Criquet post war used in French Indochina after WWII and left to the VNAF. It served in the role of Forward Air Controller and Casualty Evac. It's STOL capabilities are legend. Pardon the macro photography as I'm not that good at it. Nha Trang South Vietnam 1955 shortly after national markings repainted from French.

  19. There's a funny saying at our house that comes up from time to time. I crashed in a race and broke my shoulder. Wo46 was in the emergency room and when the nurse was rolling me off to x-ray Wo46 was standing there with her little cup of coffee and said. Someday I want you to drive me to the hospital.

  20. I’m going to try to get the house ready for grandkids tomorrow. They are calling for rain tomorrow so I might want to have somewhere for ten people to eat inside. If it’s not too bad we can eat out on the deck, it’s under roof and has lots of tables. My wife and I always worked together as a team and it’s incredible how much harder it is doing everything myself. I’m thinking about closing the pool soon. Always a sad day when I close down the pool. The grandkids will swim in it even when it’s in the sixties but with nana not well they don’t come around as often. Right now the pool is still 70° so the kids will stay in forever at that temp. They get in the hot tub and warm up when they get cold.

  21. The best part is when he has a brewing class comming up and needs to empty a barrel for class he sends me a text asking for my help to empty the barrel. Maybe that explains why I can't loose that last few pounds of weight.

  28. I am perfectly qualified for the job I have, largely in part because I targeted this as a job goal and worked over a period of nine years developing the qualifications to do it well. I have been asked aboht changing jobs within our organization for promotion and or commission and more pay but politely declined explaining that this is the best uses of my abilities. Some people get paid for what they do, others get paid for what they know, I am a weird combination of both

  31. Yeah, looks manageable, BUT... not sure about grade. Pics are deceiving. If the grade is too steep and those rocks are on the loose side, it could be a walker. Pics are deceiving.

  32. Nah. Stumper would mob right through that garden. Pedal fast heading up to it, and you'll go right over the top of them. NO BRAKES. Although pics don't properly show grade. Those rocks are not that big though.

  38. We shopped and ate sAndwiches and worked the dogs. Then we shot at the little club. I rocked it tonight- he rocked it harder. Beat me by one I. The first round and more than that in the second. Shot with some really good shooters tonight. I hadn’t met them before. They were gracious with my novice status. It was fun. Now reading and thinking about tomorrow.
