  7. We put up the "beam" across the two sides of the porch to keep them from spreading or moving. HoSmudge wanted to double up the lowest 2x6's on the porch, so we did that too. I bought a couple"cookies" from the concrete place I worked at years ago. They will be the bases for the burl posts we will put up next time. The posts will support the outside corners of the porch roof. We also put on the trim on the wall corners. This pic actually shows the proper color of the shed. So ya, that's today's progress.

  8. So far I have 11 offers, just trying to decide who I trust the most to keep it going. I guess I forgot the naming part, feel free to rename it whatever you want. Nate is one of the offers, I suspect he'll name it, get the Fuck out, I hate all of you.

  12. She is a really sweet person and I got a hug from her once. I used to work on Sony Pictures and she was there filming Speed 2. We had a medical emergency call and me and another manager realized we were standing right in front of the trailer the call came from. We assisted the child who was choking and once everything settled down I saw Sandra Bullock was in the trailer. I think the kid was a directors son & his mom & Bullock were in the trailer with him. We both got big squishy hugs and thank you’s. She really did have a good reputation on the lot. People liked working with her.

  14. Being lefthanded, I was put at first base on my first little-league team. One day, my father came home with a first baseman's mitt. I loved that glove, maybe because all the kids on the team were jealous I had a bigger glove than them.

  19. Ya, that's why we want to get those posts up. I know its a metal roof, but that doesn't guarantee the snow will slide off. The siding left some gaps at the corners, so I wanted to get that trim on. Should be good for winter once we get those posts up.

  25. I wasn’t much of a ball player as a kid and other than my obligatory stint in little league that was it for organized baseball. When my son started playing little league I got a decent but not great Rawlings glove so we would play catch. My daughter then wanted to play so I got her a softball glove. I wasn’t coach dad as I’m not a baseball guy but loved being out there so volunteered to pitch BP, shag balls whatever was needed. The glove got good usage. When I started playing softball I got a better glove but still have that first one.

  27. Okay...I HAVE to do my roasted root veggies this weekend But what to eat with them? I am doing myfitnesspal trying to track my calories...but I also hate doing all the math to figure out calorie content on home cooking. PITA I still get most of my protein from animal...but would like to try more veggies stuff...Also wouldn't mind a good soup option..I found a cup of soup and 1/2 a sammie made a good dinner...Hmmm I have some Trader Joe's Autumn soup for this coming week... Oh and snacks...so far it has been nuts, apple & peanut butter, veggies and Hummus or a cheese stick.. So far...I have stayed away from diet coke and wine...and entered the food...and the numbers are going down...slowly!! But hey it was a slow creep up July, August and September...and Last Saturday I had a terrible scare with the number on the scale...even though I know much of it was due to salty food....I am back to my end of May weight!!! So give me your simple...or quick go to options and ideas!!

  28. I never had a glove until my son began little league. So, I bought his gear and bought myself a glove. A year later I was the coach of his team. Did it for 3 years. i still have the glove. Pulled it out over the summer to teach my grandson about baseball.

  30. Mine was a softball glove. I pitched and played first base and it was a pain to bring two gloves. It was a Wilson that just barely met the requirements of a fielders glove but was shaped like a first baseman's mitt. I had to bring the paperwork for it with me as other teams did challenge me wearing the glove while pitching. Also I'm a leftie so it's harder to find gloves. I think that I still have the glove in storage somewhere even though I haven't played softball in 30 years. Looks like there are at least three southpaws here. I batted right though.

  31. At the cardiologist today. He was impressed with my stress test. He found an issue in some of the photos but said for now we are going to wait and see. He’s restricting salt because of my blood pressure. That’s going to be fun because my wife requests all kind of salty food. I guess I’ll be making two meals. He wants me to take my blood pressure three times a day and write it down and wanted to see me in a month but first opening is December 20th.

  32. I went Wednesday. Echo at my next visit. Bloodwork a week from next Wednesday (after my next dose of high dollah cholesterol meds). Systolic was high, but it’s always high at their office. It was normal the week before at the Red Cross & Monday in my office. My health insurance company & the regional health group are in a dispute. As of 10/01 I’m out of network, but group is adjusting bills so all I pay is regular copay until the end of the year.

  33. You guys ever just pull your glove out & smell it? Something magical about the smell of a baseball glove. This thread reminds me that I should condition my glove and properly store it. Now that I’m retired from softball again it’ll be a while before I break it out. I should really check my bag too, there is probably months old sweaty socks & towels in it!

  35. I had a blue glove that I found at Fort Niagara State Park. There must have been some magic in the old blue glove I found, when I put it on my hand I began to throw the ball around. I think I had a Wilson A1000.

  42. I kept watching to see how it was going to end. Eventually that little guy is going to piss off the big guy and he will knock him out of the ring. We went camping with another couple. They had a yappy wiener dog and we had a big gentle Samoy. That little wiener just wouldn’t leave our dog alone. She ignored it as long as she could until that wiener bit her on her back side. Our dog struck back with one bite and sent the wiener howling with its tail between its legs. Then we saw the blood trail. It took 22 stitches at the vet. She never messed with our dog after that.

  44. Saltines rock! I remember many road trips with my parents that included saltines and peanut butter (and when I was older, whisky sours). My grandmother put butter on saltines whenever she ate them with soup. And for some reason the 4 sleeve saltines were almost the same price as the 2 sleeve pack. Only suckers bought the 2 sleeve pack.
