  4. I am of the opposite camp. History and science will prove me correct. As scientific studies, over time, contradict earlier studies. I go with higher alcohol/calorie beers for recovery after physical exertion activities. A double IPA has 300-400 calories, 8-10% ABV and IBUs over 50 provide good antioxidants that do a body good. A DIPA will serve as a better recovery beverage than a Michelob Ultra; wait and see.

  6. Interesting documentary. Found a very compelling reason to go vegan. Supposedly, they had case studies of men having larger and longer erections. Well, now that is a good reason feast on plants. ? Nice for people with penises and for others that like penises

  7. The ones doing snowshoe racing want groomed trails. For me snowshoes are wood and rawhide with lampwick bindings. Those people use aluminum and plastic contraptions not much larger than their feet. I think they have a mental problem.

  18. It will be shipped from harbor Springs, MI Thursday. I have been looking at different trail groomers since i made the agreement with our county park department to groom 6 miles of multi-use trail for fat bikes, snowshoes, classic and skate style xc skiing and sled dogs. My home built groomer worked but It wasn't great. Also took more passes on the trail to get a good surface. Now I want all of you to get your dancing shoes on and do a snow dance for us. I want to groom more than twice this winter like I did last winter. I had been grooming at 4 inches of snow but the park grooms at 6 so we won't be starting as quick. Sno-master 48 I will be pulling it with my ATV with tracks. Plan is that it will also be going to Mohawk, Michigan with me a couple weeks this winter. I will be spending some time there training the dogs for the Jack Pine 30 race. While we are on that subject who is coming to Gwinn, MI to handle dogs for me at the race on February 15? I could be persuaded to buy that kind person a beer or 2. Does anyone here even know where Gwinn is located? I'm thinking the person with the she shed may have an idea. @smudge http://www.up200.org/

  20. Well, earlier this week the principal sent us all a link to online teacher training about culturally responsive teaching. The first 800 people who complete two modules receive a Lenovo tablet and stand. At first I was skeptical because the training cohorts began forming in April of 2018. Surely, 800 people have completed two modules by now? But, no. Last night I completed the required tasks, and my Lenovo tablet should arrive within a week. I already looked up student data apps compatible with Android.

  21. The greatest generation seems to have done some significant damage. My Grandfather helped build the AK pipeline. My other Grandfather was a welder on a shipyard and his Father chopped down the old growth in the PNW. My family has been busy in their destruction.

  22. Local place. A prominent hair dresser. The only thing I could add to the conversation was that who she goes to is the best in town. I must have amazing patience and tolerance. Teaching Eleanor to ride takes a lot of that.

  23. And when you finally had enough and tell them off they play the victim and don't understand why you are yelling at them. Next thing you know is your sitting in HR explaining why you yelled at them and threatened to throat punch them the next time they open their pie hole. I know this for a fact.

  24. Sleep in the shed loft again this weekend. I've got the loft pretty well insulated, and I plan on getting more insulation in the walls. I also have the gable vent closed off; that was letting in a lot of cold air. AND the expected lows will be ABOVE the single digits!! (we had 11 this morning, camp had 7 degrees) I'm going tomorrow morning and will stay the night for more work time. HoSmudge will come up on Sunday he says. Sooooo..... wolves coyotes be damned! I am hoping to spend another night in the loft........ even though I said I'd never do that again until next summer. Fingers crossed. P.S. I WILL have the chamber pot in the shed with me!

  27. My opinion is that what Mick is doing isn’t good for Mick. Don’t you have a stovetop to cook the stuff on and serve it in your melamine bowls for dining? The dinnerware would last ten years not one. We have the exact same bowls as pictured. I use them to make guacamole and serve soups and chili in but I’d never microwave them. I rarely use the microwave for much beyond defrosting in an emergency. Stovetop and oven are my go to’s for food prep.

  28. Thank you. I used to like writing by typing on this old typewriter when I was a kid. My Mother told me I was a bad writer so I kinda stopped that. I do enjoy writing stories for all of you. Race stories, work stories, etc.

  37. I don't see that many younger people riding bikes to work, or school. I don't see them scrambling around with mason jars in the grocery store getting things labeled for tag weight. I don't see them using old cell phones for years and years, to prevent excess tech footprint. Cell phones have an enormous footprint. I see young people flying all over the world taking fantastic selfies, and in corresponding posts, they tear down boomers. I do think there needs to be change, but have we already jumped the shark. Can we really go back? The train is steaming ahead on coal.

  38. Yep. But he can only see wiggling fingers now and can't make out the 3 largest letters on the chart. And his degenerative arthritis makes it very difficult for him to get out of bed. He even told me he doesn't know if he can do it -- as it could be another 12 sessions or more. I will continue as long as he wants to.
