  1. Well enough to want to eat something. Yesterday I had a bit of tomato soup for dinner and some canned pears for breakfast. A bit ago I had half a turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce but no mayo. I may try a cup of coffee soon.

  2. Wade is very excited to have his Tahoe. Quite proud of it. He asked me to help him with a few projects. I bought him LED daytime running lights, some washer fluid and a head light polishing kit. We added the fluid and traced the leak to a hose that had pulled loose near the rear of the truck. Plugged it back in to it's connector and leak fixed and washers spray front and rear. Watched a video on how to replace bulbs, which requires removal of the head light housings. So we removed the head light housing, polished them and replaced the bulbs. Took a few hours but the head lights look almost new, not 11 years old. I think replacing the front and rear door speakers will be next. He has to save up and buy those first.

  4. Who wants to go vintage Superbike racing? The Plan for this bike is to rebuild the transmission, maybe rebuild the top end of the motor (we will find out when I open it up) and set it up for the track. I plan on doing a few races on it then sell it.

  7. Yes, most of the way out. It was nice. Plus she came over this morning with her brother for pancake Sunday. That too was nice. Her other brother lives in Texas.

  9. Been there! But once, when I was 16, I had a one year-old brother who needed milk. The corner stores had been closed for days, there was a couple feet of snow on the ground, and in the dark evening mom handed me $5 (in 1966) and, with two high school friends (including the late Mike Meros, who became a backup musician for the Beach Boys for decades), we went trudging off through the snow in search of an open store. We walked a few miles and three supermarkets and all the corner stores we checked-out were closed. Then, on the main highway, a few miles from my house, we spied a milk truck that had pulled over into the slow lane - which was closed and used by the plows to push the snow. The truck's driver was making money by selling milk for 3-4 times its normal price. I had $5 and explained we had walked 3 miles in the snow trying to keep my baby brother alive. Since I had no choice, I handed over the $5 and asked for all the milk that would buy. He cut us a break - I think he still charged us double - but he put some quarts and pints and half-pints in three bags. We returned to my home freezing but grinning from ear to ear at our very lucky experience with enough milk to last until things returned to normal. I remind my brother of that story every time he gives me a strange look when I ask for a favor!

  15. Our Christmas dinner will be on Christmas Eve...as usual. He and I come from families where each family did their own celebration during the lit darkness of Christmas Eve. As usual, will choose a gourmet cake..probably a bouche de Noel (roll) from a well=known Vancouver pastry chef who has a very popular patisserie and cafe place. The chef also grew up and trained in same part of southern Germany where dearie's family comes from, where German tradition of fine pastry making...6-layer tortes, delicate cookies are done. It is not just apple strudel. Baking it is too much effort, at this quality level, for us. His mother used to do and loved doing it before she died. This is a woman who could make puff pastry …from scratch. So in a small way, spending some money on quality gourmet Christmas cake is a nod to our memory of her fine gourmet baking creations for her family for decades. https://www.thomashaas.com/collections/cakes-and-tarts

  26. Wo7 just finished a quilt top for a teenage relative of a relative. She did this at RtJ’s house. She is hoping to finish the quilt at a friend who has a long arm quilt machine. This would be optimum as she wouldn’t have to haul it back and ship from home

  34. She can’t get down to the lower level of the house. The stair lift only takes her to the front door. She will never know. I’ve been telling her I don’t want to leave this house for our kids to have to deal with. I found some stuff for the twice blessed store today. I found two pairs of ice skates, one men’s and one ladies, still in the box. I have no idea where those came from. They were packed in a big box that never got opened after the last move 27 years ago. There is a hand made kids wooden rocking chair with a boys name and birth date. His mom was living with us while she was pregnant and a couple years after he was born. I messaged him on FB to see if he wanted it.
