  2. Jordan, he's an old neutered male, the mellowest cat on earth. His philosophy is "it'll be alright" He found a bed and took a nap. Found the food dish and had a snack. Found the the litter box..... Went back to bed for another nap. He is now out poking around, seeing the sights as it were. He has stayed with us before so some of the smells may be familiar, although it was a couple years ago, and this is a new house so a lot of new smells and totally new layout. Jordan says "it'll be alright...

  3. So my boss talked to HR about me and they came to the conclusion to look at it is as I was being provoked.. I got the 10 second talk of being nice to people. She on the other hand got nailed with a false HR claim, provoking a fellow worker, and basically being told she is still a temporary employee. After that her boyfriend came in the office and gave his two weeks notice, and she dropped from full time to part time... incase you didn't follow the original story or want a recap.

  5. Turned out very well. I used Bob’s Red Mill recipe with sourdough starter, rye, whole wheat and Sierra Nevada Narwhal Imperial Stout. Next time I’ll use a coffee porter in place of the stout.

  6. I'm off to buy a new suit shortly. My two suits are at least 15 years old and one has a hole in the crease of the pants. The other doesn't fit me too well for some reason. Unfortunately many of my relatives are at the age were I might need a suit at short notice. Do you think that this would be a good look for me?

  8. I once smelled Krispy Creme donuts wafting across the valley as I climbed a long, steep road, shattered after a 70+ mile ride. The donut shop had closed a few years prior.

  12. I did the Altoona-> State College -> Altoona MS150 once, and opted for the 100 mile option for the first day. But the road markings got confusing, and before we knew it, we we following the signs for the next day’s ride back to Altoona. So I put the hammer down and dragged my buddy back to Penn State, putting in 110 miles for the day and missing the last feed stop, which was famous for it’s homemade cookies. ? So we hightailed it to the Penn State Creamery for ice cream.

  13. Church this morning. I missed church last week because I couldn’t leave my wife home alone. Then stop on the way to the hospital and get something to eat. I have to bring my wife’s chemo back into the hospital. I bagged up all her drugs and brought them into the emergency room when she was taken there. They added all her drugs onto their computer and then gave them back to me and told me to take them home with me. Yesterday they told me they needed me to bring back her chemo drug because they didn’t have it in their pharmacy.

  17. A few days ago, we took a little 10 min. water taxi boat across a saltwater creek. It is convenient way to avoid heavy persistent rain and a walk or convoluted bus ride to market. The boat driver was a young woman (ie. in her late 20's-early 30's). She was fine except she looked at her iPhone over 50% of time when she was steering the boat. Dearie, who used to sail decades ago, noticed she allowed the boat to drit aimlessly while she looked at iPhone several times. There are many boats docked at various marinas, plus other little boats and occasional kayakers (yes even in heavy rain) cruising around. She used her short wave radio ...which this company has used for ages (meaning last 20 yrs.) to chat /communicate with staff when she needed. It is a busy little water area with enough water vessels puttering along. So I reported her to the company manager on her distracted water steering/driving. Manager emailed me that there was zero tolerance for iPhone use while boat steering, etc. He wrote he spoke with her. I thanked manager and reminded that customers come from all walks of life..with many don't know how to swim (I don't) and can see his staff work on the job. There are a lot of tourists in this area of Vancouver and these boats also go to tourist destinations. **Maybe I'm just an unusually safety-oriented person...after being a long-time cyclist (and seeing distracted car drivers). After working for regulatory agency that investigated fire deaths, educated public on fire safty, also in a hospital where people were disabled permanently due vehicle accidents, sports injuries and gunshot....

  21. ...you can still feed the dumb deer. Just plant yourself a few apple trees, fence them so the deer don't chew them down to the ground and strip the bark, killing them in the first four years or so. When they get high enough that some of the foliage is too high for the deer to reach, (maybe 5-6 years, depending on your rootstock), you can remove the fencing and put wire screening on the trunks so they can't get at the bark. Then they will pretty much browse the lower leaves and branches every year, leaving your trees looking well manicured up to about 6 feet. Apple trees are a deer magnet.

  24. I’ve always agreed with most of his views on food, and the recipes in this book look pretty simple and veggie-centric, so I am optimistic I can pull a few useful things oot of it, like pickling veggies for antipasto, which is something that doesn’t happen with most cookbooks. Wow, that was all one sentence.

  27. The last organized ride I did they offered an alternate route at one point and I decided to try it. I must have been the only one to take it. Beautiful scenery but I never saw another rider. It must have been a longer route than the main one because I was ten miles over the distance for the lunch stop. I was climbing a long hill and I could smell awesome smells. It was all Amish country with very few farms so I thought I was imagining it. Almost to the top of the hill was an Amish stand where they were selling freshly made donuts, pies, cinnamon rolls, fruits, sweet corn, hot coffee, and cakes of all kinds. There were so many cars parked there that there was no more space to park and people were parking on the road. My stomach told me I had missed the lunch stop so I better eat there. I don’t remember exactly what I bought but I pigged out and it was all good. A mile or so further and my route joined up with the main route and there was our lunch stop all set up. I ate again but wasn’t very hungry.

  28. Paulie is a beautiful dog. He's wicked smart too and does not back down, which is typical of the breed. He's going to be a GREAT dog. I'm looking forward to watching him grow up. I might steal him. I'm disappointed in Ylva's behavior but I really think something bad happened to her when she was a pup. I don't know what it was today with Paul. She loves my parent's dog and got along great with PZ's dog Geno. But at least Aire believes me now. Mudkipz
