  1. The mountains have just got pounded this week with snow. 4-6 feet of snow. Which brought the snowpack from 30% to 80% of normal. Sad because still at 80% But great because we're at 80%! The last big snow was just after Thanksgiving. 80% ain't nothing. But we'll need some more storms before it's all said and done. @Dirtyhip may be having issues biking to work On the other hand snowshoeing yesterday was epic. The deepest I've ever been. Every step was 18-24". That was a workout. Sorry no pictures as o lost my phone in the snow. A couple using the trail we broke found it & returned it last night

  3. Her user name was Buggy10. She was a nut. Everything she posted turned into an epic clusterfuck. I don't know how she kept up too because she was more verbose than Mick. She'd complain about how hard it is to climb hill. Someone would respond that perhaps she should consider downshifting. She'd respond with a 5 paragraph thesis explaining how she can't shift gears while riding because she was afraid to fall off her bike. All her discussions were glorious this way.

  4. It was in the box hanging there on the wall so I took it. I took a little of the wall paper with it but no big deal. It looks like it's about $50. Yeah me.

  7. You mean something like this: https://cyclewriteblog.wordpress.com/2014/01/01/snowshoeing-humble-snow-steps-in-canadas-vastness-and-history/ For sure, snowshoeing gets you into areas, that x-skiing can't.

  10. Got a text from my trainer this morning...his 4:30pm client cancelled...could I get there early...WTF yeah I left work about 3:45. He was gonna have me do squats with a bar on my shoulder..but my right arm (the one with the lipoma and the shoulder issues) didn't quite like that position...I wonder if it is due to scar tissue Anyway... had a good workout...Well...back to the morning... I left home...and forgot my purse and cell phone...came back...good thing cos I was in charge of bringing in a sympathy card...co-worker Norma's dad died ...and I left the damn card on the counter by the door...So the return trip home (from3/4 miles away) was worth it. Went down to the shop with the card and Derek (from Maintenance handed me 2 Weight Watchers meal kits..(Apparently WW got into the meal kit thing too...and you can get them at your LGS) Anyway...I often ask how his wife is doing,,she went back on WW a few months ago..He tells me..GREAT...I tell him to tell her she sucks Although I did say...I could still kick her azz at the gym Anyway he mentioned these meals and we talked about these different meal prep companies...and he brought 2 in for me..they are the same..tomatoes , kale, pasta and a "sauce" of pesto and cream cheese...Made it tonight after my trainer session..2 servings..yes I only ate 1...but I did dice up some chicken into it... I will say...it was quite good..pasta was pre-cooked...probably took 10 minutes to assemble..I guess they are spendy,,however she got these on sale at her LGS.. That was dinner..oh and a touch of smoked salmon that Derek gave me at lunch...home smoked... The End!

  13. On a recent afternoon, Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, assembled members of his staff to discuss the secret details of a critical project: the elimination of public “likes.” You’ll be able to see how many hearts your posts get, dear user, but not other people’s tallies. The effort is referred to internally as “Project Daisy” — as in “Does she love me? Or love me not?” Likes are the social media currency undergirding an entire influencer economy, inspiring a million Kardashian wannabes and giving many of us regular people daily endorphin hits. But lately, Mr. Mosseri has been concerned about the unanticipated consequences of Instagram as approval arbiter. But making likes private will be a major shift for Instagram’s more than 1 billion users, for whom daily assessment of one another’s popularity has become like breathing. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/17/business/who-is-the-ceo-of-instagram.html

  19. I hate when I'm scrolling though the comments on someone's Facebook post and accidentally hit the little heart thingy on some comment by somebody I don't know who turns out to be a 15 year old girl who gets all "stop stalking me you dirty old man" about it. Yeah, I don't like when that happens. Not that it ever happened. To me, I mean.

  20. Buggie was a Boston burbs "cyclist" who was scared of the roads and paths where she lived, but even more afraid of the roads and paths where she didn't live. She was a hottie, though, so we kept her around.

  23. Shoulder is feeling much better, so it felt like over kill to even be going to PT, but I should know by now how fast it can all go south. If I had treated this when it first reared it's ugly head I wouldn't be missing work right now. Anyway, he did some heat & tens to loosen things up, then some manipulating, and had me do some mild exercises. Wants me to take another week off and have 3 PT sessions next week. If I could count on an easy week I'd go to work, but shit goes from floating along with the warm summer breeze to ass deep in alligators in a heartbeat. So I'm loafin for another week

  25. I drove the wrong vehicle today. When I left the house at eight am the sun was up with a beautiful sunrise. I sat in my wife’s hospital room right next to the window. They had the blinds closed to keep the sun from shining in our eyes. We never opened the blinds all day. At supper time I prayed for my wife and gave her a kiss and left to go home and make dinner. When I got to the hospital door I couldn’t believe it, we had over six inches of snow on the road and white out conditions. I have never driven the Oddesey in that much snow. It got me home but it’s a bit squirrelly. I wonder why they had not plowed the road? The hospital is on the main road in town. Once I was ten miles out of town the road was plowed and salted and in good condition. This weekend I need to move furniture around to make room for a hospital bed in the living room. My wife had some suggestions that involved moving every piece of furniture that we own. I said no. I think I’m just going to move the couch (big heavy couch with two recliners in it) 90° from where it is now and slide it as far as I can toward the dining area. I’ll move rocking chair into the spare bedroom and that should do it. The little grandkids won’t be able to circle from the living room to the kitchen through the dining area and back into the living room but they will get over it.

  26. We each pair of MSR......we bought them nearly 20 yrs. ago...when snowshoeing not as popular as now. We bought them when we had first access to mountain trails...after moving to British Columbia. Now, with so much choice in styles..I probably could use a slightly slimmer pair, because my frame width/size is petite.

  30. Mick, I hope it works out for you. I’m not being critical as I know how tough it is but to Dennis point I think there are areas of improvement you could focus on with your diet which may hopefully limit dependence on meds. Earlier today you posted: I have extra wide egg noodles - or maybe a venison stew or soup to go with the noodles. Just skip them noodles & make a stew with the venison & lots of veggies instead. You can strip some cabbage for a noodle like feel. Only chiming in because I care, again not trying to be critical.
