  1. Aurora 'Rory' Briana. Our sixth grandchild. Grandma is floating on a cloud. Plans are to fly out to New Mexico to visit in April. Somehow Grandma is resisting the urge to fly out today.

  2. That was one of David Hobbs’ lines when a Formula One driver was working hard to pass the car in front. I had to rethink that phrase yesterday. WoW and daughter and I had a little time to kill before going to dinner. We decided to walk around at a mall near the restaurant. I hadn’t been to Macy’s for a couple years. They usually have a decent selection of men’s clothing. They had a few nice shirts but I wasn’t in a buying mood until... On a clearance rack was a light grey suit jacket. I have been looking for a decent suit lighter than my black suit. It’s a little somber for some events. Rarely does a jacket off the rack fit. If it fits my torso the sleeves are too short. Long enough sleeve mean the rest is too large. I know I can get them altered but it wasn’t a huge priority. But, I tried on the jacket (There were only 2 on the rack) and it was a perfect fit! Daughter found the matching slacks which also were available in my size! WoW had been to the ladies room. I told her I wanted her opinion on a suit before I told her the price. She rolled her eyes wondering what this was going to cost us! I put on the jacket and she immediately liked it! She was afraid to ask the price thinking I was looking at a $500 suit. Nope. $40 for the jacket. $20 for the slacks!

  5. Not to upstage or parody @team scooter. Last night, my son informed me that he and his wife are pregnant again. I am hoping for a granddaughter like TS's. My family seems to be great at making boys. A girl would be nice for a change.

  11. No. I worked for the US Navy for 38 years. I went on a lot of "cruises". They weren't loads of fun. A bit like being in prison. I have never seen the attraction. You can do all that same stuff on land and then go home whenever you want.

  12. Long story...but not Mick length Yesterday our postal worker asked for an updated phone directory...and I gave her one hot off the press. When I update the directory, I take out dead people or people who have recently moved...WELL she put vacant on those mailboxes and returned the mail to be forwarded...without asking me or saying ANYTHING....I thought they couldn't do that without an official request on file AND since there wasn't a forwarding address on file...they sent some stuff return to sender. Caused problems for at least 1 person today and who knows if she sent back mail for the other 5 people no longer in the phone directory...and just because they are dead doesn't mean their mail isn't important!! So I am dealing with that, several call...and then I get a call about my insurance claim for my ceiling...Margaret who has lost lots of cognitive ability this past year..Her explanation of the event isn't (at this time) clear enough for her insurance company to cough up my deductible Then there is the line up to print and slice 200 handouts, take 2 workorders, fix a tv, and answer the door. Someone stopped in to say have a good weekend and someone else came in to find out about the nominating committee for the May annual meeting...The board president wanted to talk to me...and a lady in her late 90's...who had trouble with her new dishwasher this morning....couldn't figure out how to work her new stove this afternoon...even with the directions. AT 4:25PM...I used my key to the mailroom (I got one when our mail service went to hell about 4 years ago)....I checked the boxes...and to prevent anymore mail going return to sender...I took all the VACANT tags off the boxes

  13. Just so you people know first....well not quite first. several mushers already know. Part of this trip is to check out several properties I am considering buying. Looking at small cabins with some acreage that connects to the trails and seasonal roads in Hiawatha National Forest. Hope to have a place at the eastern side of Hiawatha NF by next winter.

  14. I haven’t bought any TP this year. I use a specially treated wet wipe for hospice patients on my sweetie and hospice provides those. A roll of TP lasts me a long time taking one dump a day. Before my wife was bedridden I couldn’t believe how much paper we went through. I can see why now it’s my job. I know TMI, I wouldn’t want this job if it was anyone else. Nurses, LPNs, and aids are awesome people.

  17. I had a couple hours this morning before my wife woke up just sitting and sipping coffee. Then when WofZ got up we jumped in the hot tub for a morning soak. Doggie was pretty perky this morning so we went to Westwood Lake for a 6km walk around the lake. We decided to take doggie and I just decided I would take her a ways then turn around or carry her the rest when she ran out of gas. And she made it the whole way around on her own. I also had finally replaced my 30 year old hiking boots so wore my new ones to break them in before we do our trip this summer. The boots were so comfortable I forgot I was wearing them. (Yay!) We didnt break any speed records around the lake, but Pico was pretty tuckered out at the end. Given her advanced age and deteriorating health, this is her longest walk in a long while Now back home with a cup of coffee

  19. Yeah tell me about it. I spend sooooo much time on all of the meetings, documentation, etc... i didn't have nearly enough time to do all of the things i wanted to do, like more one on one coaching. mentoring. etc.. And we did this twice a year. Mid-year reviews and end of year reviews. The year I retired, was the first year we skipped mid-year reviews, and started monthly meetings with each employee. In mid July, i just snapped.. I went into the HR web site and 15 minuets later, I clicked on OK for the prompt "Are you sure you want to do this?" I didn't even tell my wife. I just retired. There were more than a few reasons, and skipping the end of year process was one of them. My boss called me in 10 minutes. We would get automated mail notifications from the HR system, and she got the email telling her i just retired and my last day would be 30 days later. She started something like WTF... etc.. I told her never mind... I'm done. Besides I didn't tell my wife, and i certainly won't explain this to you before I talk to my wife. Yeah... that was a good day.

  23. Nice! We just hit up Macy’s the other week. As we are business casual I unloaded all but one suit. When I got asked to escort our CEO for 3 days on 3 seperate weekends I thought hmm, that one suit isn’t going to cut it... I went to Macy’s and got 2 sport coats, 2 pants and a shirt for just under $300. We worked the sales and my wife has a Macy’s card so had some coupons for some big discounts.

  24. How many guys help with that? At our New Wilmington campus we had an annual Ladies Brunch around Mother’s Day. The men did all the cooking and they always had so many volunteers that you couldn’t move in the kitchen. It was funny to watch them, they wanted to do this but were so clueless. I was on the regular kitchen crew that made meals all year. I was there just to help them find what they needed and make the coffee. I came in the day before and made the muffins and coffee cakes.

I went out and bought a box of 40 Mucinex...with a 2022 expiration date....Some Raspberry Jelly that doesn't expire til May of 2021...2 cans of tuna and 2 boxes of Kraft Mac and Cheese....cos even if you are on your death bed you can make a box o mac & cheese pretty dang easy! We had our first diagnosed case today.

  33. Had tea and chatted with my neighbor..oh and messaged my friend who's mother died...Then my neighbor and I went to the salon so I could pick up my hair crap then we went to brunch. Then we strolled a couple of shops on the same street as the restaurant..including a hardware store that sells EVERYTHING I spent $3.79 for a small grater. We stopped at the car wash but the line was way long...so we came home..I swept my garage area so I can lay on the floor and put my bike rack on...and I got laundry going. Soon I am heading back to the carwash and hope the line is shorter.

  37. Yeah it’s always better to be a bit over than under dressed. I’m generally in slacks and an open collar shirt but some Execs wear jeans & a tshirt. If you didn’t know them one could confuse a mailroom guy for a VP at my work...

  38. Is obedience fun? We will be shearing sheep then hope to get done in time to watch the ceremonial start of the Iditarod. (Paulie should watch it too. Shila recommends it. It is 10am AST. convert that to your own local time.) For you on EST that is 2 pm. I need to get busy shearing sheep.

  40. I hope their just keeping the panicked from buying 25 of each one rather than a shortage. In any case, after I move into my apartment Tuesday, I'm going to stock up on canned soups, ravioli, chicken alfredo, and 12-packs of Ramen Noodles, just in case there's a temporary shipping problem in the places they are made. I'm still hoping this one follows the past coronaviruses and virtually disappears when warm weather comes.
