  10. Soporific is the theme at the Further house. Been poking at shit and walking away, leaving everything half done at best. Unable to concentrate for more than a minute. I have been doing all my music listening online for the past couple years, Pandora or You Tube mostly, well the signal down in the basement has faded, not sure of the reason, but I was missing my tunes. So I bought a cheap ass CD player at Walmart today, dug out my old Bose computer speakers, and hooked them up down in the basement. I have a huge pile of CD's I haven't listened to in years, Enya found her way into the player as a test play. Sounded pretty good so the whole album played. While I actually accomplished something for a change. Enya ended and I plugged in Bob James, haven't listened to him in years, sounded pretty good and I got a little more done.. ..Working on getting the mower ready for spring, the grass is already growing.. Soporific is the theme at the Further house....

  12. I stopped at the liquor store because it is across from the post office. We do not drink every week but it felt like we needed bourbon and port. Bourbon no issue but oddly almost no port. I am not sure what to attribute that to. Also got some limoncello for recipes

  13. My husband asked me, "Can you cut my hair?" The dialogue was awesome and we were laughing the whole time. He has really awesome curly hair, and a lot of it. So, I set up the chair, and never having held hair hair scissors, I went to work. Hubby: You can't possibly do as bad as the cheap cut place. They give me a shitty haircut. DH: Well, this is going to be a free shitty haircut. Hubby: Should we watch a youtube vid? DH: Nah, It'll be fine. Hubby: Is this like your Salon Barbie head? DH: You don't want to be her Hubby: How long, before she was bald? DH: First day...hold still. Hubby: Try the clippers. DH: Honey, you love me right? <more snipping> Hubby: You are not instilling me with a lot of confidence with that statement. DH: It's not that bad. Hubby: <laughing> It grows fast. <more snipping> DH: Oh, oops. Hubby: Maybe cut a little and we can look and then cut more later. <more snipping> DH: We should have bought a flowbee. <more laughing> DH: OK, I think...yeah, that's OK. <Hubby runs his hands through his hair and looks in the mirror> DH: Maybe, take a shower, and it will look better. Hubby: We can talk about your tip later.

  15. I have probably known for at least a year that it was time for hearing aids. I asked @Airehead, my sister in law, my boss and a couple other people questions and all were helpful, but I was never ready to make the leap. During our vacation, I read an article by a hearing impaired person. He had using hearing aids for years but had grown disillusioned by the hearing centers that had become more sales oriented and less about the right solution. I had seen and heard about that in our area. In his research, he found several online hearing companies with high customer satisfaction ratings with much lower prices. I looked around myself and decided to try Lively. There was an online hearing test. It was a little simplistic, but came out about where I expected. There was also a short Q & A about hearing and health issues. The cost was about 1/2 what I had see. For similar devices locally. I made the leap. The devices arrived Wednesday night. I had my first consultation Thursday morning. The Dr video conferenced to give me a walk through and set a follow up appointment in 2 weeks. So far I have noticed a crispness to sound I had not heard in a while. My left ear was more deteriorated than my right. It was a small revelation to hear music in my car in a way I had not heard in quite some time! Today we took the Miata out on a windy day. I set them to outdoor mode which is supposed to help filter wind noise. It seemed to work! It cut down the wind noise, but I could still hear WoW when she spoke. She commented early in the drive how much easier it was to talk to me! One of my biggest challenges is hearing in crowds and noisy restaurants. I guess that will have to wait for now. Hoping I’ll be able to test sooner than later!

  17. My local bike group has been continuing their rides, now daily as so many of them are home from work. It’s the same routine as always Meet at a coffee shop (now take-out only), ride to another, repeat, turn around and head home. No pace lines anymore, goal of keeping 6’ apart from each other. But is it worth it, really? It strikes me as somewhat less irresponsible than partying on a beach at spring break, but way too much risk for my liking. Am I over reacting? I haven’t responded to any of the emails, but I am annoyed by it. Indoor trainer, solo ride, or ride with one training partner for safety seems the more conscientious approach to me.
