  2. ‘Love Is the Best Thing in the World’ MOLLEHUSVEJ BORDER CROSSING — She drives from the Danish side, in her Toyota Yaris. He cycles from the German side, on his electric bike. She brings the coffee and the table, he the chairs and the schnapps. Then they sit down on either side of the border, a yard or two apart. And that is how two octogenarian lovers have kept their romance alive despite the closure of the border that falls between his home in the very north of Germany and hers in the very south of Denmark. Every day since the police shut the border to contain the virus, Karsten Tüchsen Hansen, an 89-year-old retired farmer, and Inga Rasmussen, an 85-year-old former caterer, have met at the Mollehusvej border crossing to chat, joke and drink, while maintaining a modicum of social distance.

  4. During normal work times, I get up at 0615 hrs. That gives me time to pack my lunch, contacts in, teeth brushed, shaved and dressed. Out the door on my bike, ride to work, shower/clean up, get dressed, make coffee and breakfast and be at my desk by about 0730 to start work at 0800. Working from home I started setting my alarm for 7, which gives me plenty of time to be ready for work at 0730. Of course for the first couple weeks I was still waking up at 0615, but last week started sleeping in until 7 So far this week, I have woken up at 0522, 0528, 0523 and today at 0517. WTF! Am I becoming an old man now? Will I start napping in front of the evening news? Should I go to the gym to see if I have gotten my 'Old Man Strength' yet? This is getting ridiculous

  7. CBS all access has 30 days free. I decided to check out the Star Trek - Picard series exclusive to the site. It was described as if the Federation had many of the same issues we see in our governments and mirroring our times. Patrick Stewart was very excited about it and some of the former cast on board was intriguing. I enjoyed it. You don't have to be a full blown Trekkie, but a knowledge of the Star Trek family of shows is helpful. The season finale wrapped it up a little too neatly, but oh well. The best line of this season was passed over too quickly. A guest was in Picard's home and was looking at a book by Isaac Asimov. They talked about it a bit and Picard said "I was never really into science fiction"

  8. This. I’d like to visit some local breweries with friends and catch up. View from Dirt Farm Brewing in Bluemont: Bluemont Vineyard is next door, their grape vines are visible on the right.

  12. Wo7 and I found the shopping list getting longer so we strapped on our face masks tightly and went out. First stop: Costco. We haven’t been there in over a month but needed to stock up on a few things. They were out of the 25 lb bags of flour but I noted that they are carrying King Arthur again so I hope to get a bag next time. Out of tp but we are still ok there. Went to get a package of ground beef at the meat counter. An older woman was looking over the ground beef so I kept my social distance and waited. And waited. Jeez lady, it’s fucking ground beef. They’re all the same, pick one! So I finally grab a pack and move on. Out of unsalted butter. Damn, I’m not settling for salted; I’ll get some at Wegmans later. Found pecans and laundry detergent. We had to renew our membership so theat boosted the total to $300. Still a good haul. Went to Wegmans in the way home. It was raining and there was a line to get in. I’m not waiting in the rain, I’ll go later. Picked up dinner at Anitas’s drive thru (local New Mexican chain) Wo7 ordered chicken enchiladas I had taco and taquito dinner. Good stuff. They included a coupon for a $0.99 draft beer on the next visit.

  16. I just want to go for a nice bike ride on my trail after all the touristas go back to work on weekdays. I'd also like to go to Jordan's23 at the casino for a nice steak dinner and a concert, something laid back like Def Leppard.

  21. Hopefully, there's no setbacks, but it looks like my Sister, BiL, and nephew have had COVID for over a week, all three are almost asymptomic today, and if nothing else happens the Health Department said their self-quarantine will be over in 6-7 days! The latest information: It's been estimated that my Sister Donna caught COVID-19 in March and is basically retaining some symptoms, mostly coughing, but not chest congestion, no fever, no aches, and will be released from self-quarantine in 6 days, though she tested negative and so is probably already clear of the actual virus. They're not giving her an antibody test because they have proven unreliable - either due to the tests or test-takers. My brother-in-law Brian has the same 6 days. He had a 100 degree fever for one day but now has my sister's symptoms, though technically he and my sister tested negative so he doesn't legally have to quarantine. My nephew Ryan will be allowed to return to work in 7 days - he's asymptomatic.

  23. I worked in Philly a few times, those folks know Fuck U, Fuck Off, and Fuck All. A nice soccer mom looking lady cut me off in a crowded store when I was carrying a ladder, even though she had cut me off I said excuse me, just to be polite, she glanced at me, said fuck you with the same infliction as "good morning" and went on her way.

  24. My wife just said her UI payments will only be $100 less than what she was making!?!? I guess the various stimulus packages really softened the blow. She said the job market is still slim, she said my company is hiring like crazy which I knew so not a surprise. Her old company laid off another 2 people (Only had 15 people to start with) and cut everyone else down to 2 days a week. Not likely they’ll be calling her back...

  26. In the 13+ years we've been here we've never used any chemicals on our "lawn". We get a lot of dandelions, they are pretty. Also a lot of weeds, they look good too. We've watered once or twice. Stop being so vain.

  30. Up here where you have to winterize hoses I'd say stay with two. But since you probably don;t have to worry much aboot freezing, three might be a nice convenience. A bigger question is good, better, or best? Commercial and industrial grade are a lot easier to roll up and less likely to leak. But "good" is nice and cheap. Glad I am not in your shewz! I would have trouble sleeping tonight.

  39. It is 6:23am MDT, and I am still sitting in front of the computer. I've been up walking dogs and feeding kids, that are now sleeping on my feet, in between taking cat naps. Time to catch a few winks before taking Lad into the vet for his acupuncture treatment. He would agree, that getting old is the pits. I'll check out the grocery store while in town and maybe buy some lamb milk replacer at one of the ag. stores. They'll take my money, even if I am an unclean grubby looking old man with a beard and needing a haircut. Hope you all have a Great Day!!!

They let me launch from their backyards.. kind of really posses off the water wardens! but it’s nice to have a lake to myself and no power boats!
