Although the pics don't show it, this RC drag car is really purple. This is the current iteration of my drag car. There is another body in the works but that may take most of the rest of the year to finish as it's an approximate scale paint job for the Motown Missile Barracuda from back in the day.6 points

After making small talk and giving Ed my requests on Classic Country on Sunday morning, he said Thank You, Marshall. He actually read my birthday email and remembered my name. I know some will think it is lame, but what the heck. Hope you have a Great Day.6 points

There is always the traditional 20-20-20 rule designed to prevent eye strain I also come visit the Forum every so often to break up work, but you probably don't want to suggest that.4 points

I'll never consider a post from Mick as a long post anymore. I started to read the OP... and I gave up. I should have given up reading sooner.4 points

I would have asked, but from looking at the upgraded site, I pretty much figured that's what you'd done.4 points

I have been asked to be a guest on a podcast this week, and after getting my question "What's a podcast?" answered I agreed to do it. Does this mean I am going to be trendy and cool now? Should I order avocado toast at brunch?3 points

WoJSTL and I did 36 miles on the tandem. Day one of our Katy Trail ride from St. Charles to Dutzow. Great weather with a rare tailwind from the east. About 25 riders in the group.3 points

As long as you don't live in your parents home,... you aren't a millennial. OMG... I just realized that means @Dottles must be a millennial.3 points

When I’m in a shake-my-head moment about something, I call myself “Tits.” It kinda rhymes with my last name.3 points

Hell yes... WoBG and I took more than a few trips just to ride roller coasters. My favorite wood track roller coaster is 'The Beast' at Kings Island. We rode just after a rainstorm, so the track was faster than normal. And it has 2 lifted drops.3 points

The usual 1 1/2 mile walk with the dogs. Today WoBG and I mowed the grass trimming around the trees, landscaping, etc.. She rides the JD and I use the push mower. I'm such a geek... I used my new watch to recorded my task. The GPS was confused a bit at the start.3 points

I had a 70 Charger - Plum Crazy with black vinyl top and matte black stripes. I'm just color blind enough that I didn't see the purple unless it was next to a blue car. My 99 Dakota is Deep Amethyst. Depending on the light, it looks blue, purple or black. WoW loves purple and always called it our purple truck. The clear coat started peeling within warranty. The district rep for Dodge authorized a full repaint. The guy at the body shop remembered me saying she loves purple, so he mixed in extra purple flecks when he mixed the paint. Apparently a street rodder saw it when he was painting it. Wanted that color on his 32 ford with 392 hemi with mint green flames. Sounds weird until you see it! We are the only 2 with that paint formula on vehicles!2 points

Page will return in a while when they release him from the hospital. It wasn't that bad a fall after getting dizzy and fortunately he safely landed on his head.2 points

Roller coaster related fatalities, United States, 1994–2004 A R Pelletier1, J Gilchrist2 Author affiliations Abstract Objective: To determine the number of fatalities related to roller coasters and examine factors common to multiple incidents. Methods: A case was defined as the death of a person, which was associated with a roller coaster in the United States between 15 May 1994 and 14 May 2004. Cases were identified from four data sources: (1) Consumer Product Safety Commission, (2) Lexis-Nexis, (3) Medline, and (4) Saferparks. Results: Forty people, ranging in age from 7 to 77 years, were killed in 39 separate incidents. Twenty nine (73%) deaths occurred among roller coaster patrons. Eleven fatalities resulted from external causes related to injuries from falls or collisions. Eighteen people died from medical conditions that might have been caused or exacerbated by riding a roller coaster; 15 were the result of intracranial hemorrhages or cardiac problems. Eleven (28%) deaths involved employees; all were caused by injuries. Conclusions: Approximately four deaths annually in the United States are associated with roller coasters. Prevention of roller coaster fatalities is dependent on establishing an effective surveillance system for amusement ride injuries, engineering rides to better protect both patrons and employees, improving training and supervision of employees regarding safety precautions, and posting cautionary notices near roller coasters for people with specified medical conditions. Further research is needed on roller coaster related deaths resulting from intracranial hemorrhages and cardiac problems. I guess they are safer than they look. No reports of cars coming off the track and dozens of people crashing to their deaths. Of course this was an old study.2 points

...this kind of fire is not the old kind of fire. We didn't get the same explosive growth and mushroom clouds back when I was involved. The Forest Service used to have smoke jumpers, crews that would parachute in to remote areas and build firebreaks to try to control the more remote ones. The way these fires behave, it would be pretty iffy to dump a crew in the middle of one of these large fires. Not sure what those guys are doing now, but my guess is they are working in other ways than parachuting into a very random fire environment to take their chances. The Creek fire went from almost invisible to 250,000 acres in 24 hours. That is some kind of fire. That's like nothing I ever saw before. In a situation like that, there are not enough resources early on to work on containment. Everyone is more or less working on evacuation and trying to protect structures. So the fire just keeps on getting bigger and bigger. If only we had done more raking. I could just kick myself now2 points
