  1. Fired up the sidecar today with a different motor today. It's actually 3 different motors put together so we can race the final race of the year. The motor only has to last one weekend. Than I have a few months to build a monster motor for next year.

  2. after the Cardiologist visit. Wo7 and I went to a local bar and grill and ate outside. Sitting alone at a table next to us was an older woman wearing a mask. She was wearing a knitted sweater. My wife asked if she had made it. No, someone gave it to me. That started a conversation that went on for a while. Wo7 had brought some masks that she was sewing for kids for the county volunteers. The lady complimented the masks so Wo7 gave her one. She was joined by another older lady and they were old friends who hadn’t seen each other in two years. The friend received a mask too. The first woman, is turning 90 in October and brought her friend a cookbook that she had put together. She did this every decade starting 40 years ago. Her friends send recipes with stories about her/them. She put it all together and published cookbooks. She gave us a copy. Here’s s pic of Sharon (right) the author, Jackie, her friend on the left and Wo7 in the center.

  3. But I don't really want a 1970's table in my newly painted house. It's a big, heavy, super dope table... that looks like it belongs in the 70's. So we sanded it down and refinished the top. We're gonna paint the legs white and put a poly finish over the stain.

  4. I had to use lights on the whole ride, wear a base layer under the jersey, and used arm warmers. I took my vest, but didn't need it. I have to say that I love my light set, definitely a game-changer.

  6. 202.6. Most of the California Triple Crown series rides were cancelled this year, but, they have been replaced by "virtual" doubles. You can ride a Zwift ride, or your own route. Your route must be 200 miles, and different rides have different requirements for the amount of climbing. For the Beach City double century the virtual requirement was 200 miles and 7000 ft of elevation gain. A fellow club member of ours runs the Arizona brevets for Randonneurs USA (RUSA). He is also in the CTC Hall of Fame, so, he added extra miles to his 300K routes to get to 200 miles. We rode a route from Flagstaff to Leupp (on the Navajo reservation) to Winslow to Clints Well, then back to Flag. Ridewithgps had 7232 feet of gain, but, when I got back to the start my Wahoo was only showing 6856 ft...so... I did a couple of hill repeats. I will add some pics later

  7. Waiting on a lens that requires a signature. Never know what these folks will do, and would much prefer doing business with UPS. Was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Phone rang and promptly hung up yesterday afternoon, probably political BS. While up checking the machine, I looked out the front window to see the FedEx truck sitting at the end of my driveway. However, they left before I could get outside, even without my boots. Checked tracking later in the day, and it indicated 'tried delivery' at 3:20pm, but no one was home or the business was closed. I finally called and raised enough hell on the answering machine, that they finally transferred me to a real person. I told the lady I was not happy and explained the situation. She did some more digging and learned the lens had never left the facility that is 1.5 miles from my house, but without anyway to contact them. It is suppose to be out for delivery today. After learning about the difference in tracking and what the person told me, I ask her who was lying to me? She did not answer. I covered up the beware of dog sign with a piece of cardboard, with a curtly written note for the FedEx delivery person. I imagine, the phone person hopes I never calls again. Yes, I was and still am pissed, as I am having to delay trips to town for 2 days instead of 1.

  9. I got a set with a discount from Light and Motion, and I love it. https://lightandmotion.com/collections/road-biking/products/vis-1000-and-vya-switch-combo During the daylight rides, I have front and rear on pulse mode, and it holy crap does that work incredibly well! I have had MANY people who see me and start to cross in front of me that just halt when they see the pulse mode (again, in daylight and when dark). WAY more visible than a standard light, and there are amber side lights that let cars know you are there from the side, too. The rear is bright as hell and completely visible from the sides and even a good bit branching out visibly to angles you would never expect. USB chargeable, too, doncha know. Another thing I like is the mount for the front light, it is a strap, so you don't need the permabulk mount on your bars that you need from Niterider, which really was the main reason I didn't want a niterider light initially. Everybody says good things about those lights, making it a tougher choice when I was choosing, but I am very stoked with the setup from Light and Motion.

  10. Back in the seventies we had a bunch of foster kids plus the baby we were adopting. We needed a bigger table. Our friends liked the size table that we had and offered to trade us. My wife refinished the new table because it looked like it was made in the seventies the 1870s. We still have that table but not in the dining room. It’s downstairs with bike stuff piled on it.

  19. The last signature required order I had I heard some clunking around on the front porch. I got up and went downstairs to see what it was and found my delivery on the ramp and the driver walking down the driveway to his truck. I wonder if he signed my name?

  28. @Randomguy, mostly I simply ignore you. But I am making an exception today. ‘Virtue Signaling”? I had to look that one up. Interesting interpretation, and I’m not surprised you inferred such, but not correct. And whether or not someone is a public figure, or somehow in the news, does that provide license to treat them any differently than we should treat anyone else? I don’t believe so. Negative or hurtful comments, especially those that are subjective, about another’s appearance are never really justified. Sure, people make them all the time. And I have done so as well. Far more times than I could count. But they’re still never justified. And to use the ‘they’re a celebrity’ reasoning is a cheap cop out in my opinion. And I am hopefully not doing that any longer. But you and I seldom agree, and I do not care for the argument. So I will leave it at that. @Goat Geddah, honestly I read the original post and my thoughts were along the line of “how would you feel if you read something similar regarding your wife or your daughter or another you cared about? How would they feel? Especially when in they’re own mind, they were attempting to improve something about themself that they were unhappy with?” And even more self searching, would you(or I or anyone else) make those comments directly to her if you were talking to her, especially knowing how they’d hurt? It would be foolish of me to assume that people will always respond positively to things. And I don’t expect that. But I acknowledge that when someone goes to that extent because they are unhappy with their appearance, then it’s a pretty deep issue for them. Telling someone the truth of how you may feel regarding these issues can be done and, in my opinion, should be done gracefully and ‘in love’, when done, considering empathy for our fellow humans. But there are two old adages that my mom used to try to teach us: If you can’t say something nice, say nothing. If you’re not willing to say something directly to someone’s face, then don’t say it behind their back. Goat, it’s a heart issue because Ive seen the effects personally. I have no beef with you. It’s just sometimes things are a little more emotional than others.
