  1. Just rode the Greater Allegheny Passage/C&O canal trail non-stop, from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C. in 21 h 36 m. To raise money for a food pantry. Beast.

  2. My neighbor Nanette and I headed out about 10:15..the plan..drive east...loop Stillwater, White Bear to home with a possible shopping stop or farm stand. We started at Walgreens down the street..and headed toward Stillwater. I totally spaced the changes with the "new" bridge..So we ended up in WI. No biggie..we went to Hudson, walked the main drag..went into a few stores..I got a simple black & gray dress for $35.We went to a different (for us) restaurant for sammies for lunch..it was okay..but nothing about it said let's come back here again. We did sit next to the deck and the fall color was great. From there... we headed north on WI 35..which more or less follows the river..somewhere...probably a roundabout ..we ended up on..65 north..either way..we drove around enjoying beautiful color...even with overcast skies..finally made a turn that eventually brought us to Balsam lake. We spent a good hour our so trying to remember the name of that autumn plant...Bittersweet. We crossed back into MN at Interstate State Park..the skies started getting darker..but it was barely 3pm A quick stop at Fresh Thyme...and we headed home. Got here about 20 after 4. We noticed a very strong gas smell in the garage..I have noticed it before..I don't think it is me..I only occasionally smell it when I get home . Anyway..we went our separate ways..and just as I sat down with my bottle of water..comes Nanette knocking on my door. She forgot her Walgreens purchase in my car..So I went down with her...As she is a couple of steps from the back door of the car..her big ol bottle of Sprite fell out of the plastic bag it flew forward..hit the concrete block wall..the cap popped off...it flew back and hit the upper door to my storage cabinet finally coming to rest at the back of my car..The floor, the cabinet, my feet, and my car sprayed with soda. I am not sure if Nanette got wet or not. The end

  4. I saw yeast the last couple of times I was in the grocery store, so yeast producers appear to have caught back up to demand. That said, I don't have to worry about yeast because Aire sent me a package of it (a pound of the very best stuff, no less) at the height of the pandemic shortages when there was none to be found anywhere. I have blitzed through a third of it so far. Every time I make pizza, which is at least a couple of times a week, I think of Aire and smile a big smile while I think of how awesome and cool she is! Thanks, Aire!

  6. Nope. I wired all 4 wires. The tab is knews to me.......I did see it on the outlet on the low side but it didn't register to me that there might be one on the other side as well. Anyway, that proves that community knowledge is kinda cool to have.

  8. It’s a beautiful day so I invited the grands over for a swim before I winterize the pool. They are busy today but will come over tomorrow afternoon. How many kids will actually swim in the pool? I’m betting Cora the nine year old for sure. Her 12 year old sister will not be shown up by a nine year old. The seven year old is anyone’s guess. I’m guessing her sisters will talk her into it. The five year old may not even put on her suit, she is a girlie girl. The three year old twin buddies will probably start out in the hot tub and then decide they just have to jump in with their sisters.

  11. Yesterday we canned 28 quarts of tomato juice. Today we have paste cooking down and about ready to can. Will be about 14 quarts. In the last few weeks we have canned tomato soup, salsa, pizza sauce, and several other varieties of tomato products. I think we forgot the bloody mary mix. Better do some of that before it freezes and kills our tomatoes.

  17. WoJSTL and I rode 31 miles on the tandem. We were supporting our daughter and SIL doing marathons. Youngest daughter stayed with oldest daughter while we passed water, GU, Gatorade, and cookies to son-in-law. There is a complicated reason why they did 26.2 miles and we did 31 miles.

  20. I don't count the windows 7 machine slaved to the battery chargers. I did have one windows 10 machine in the secret lab however for all those programs that don't run on chromebooks. It has been misbehaving for a couple of months, making noises of the HDD tracking rapidly back and forth between adjacent tracks without any data being moved. I did take the two months to vacuum all the pics and data files and music off the drive in preparation of it's impending demise. Well, today it finally crashed, won't even find the boot track and boot the computer. Well shit, do I want to repair the HDD equipped, no wifi, low memory, small power supply, no DVD, dead computer. 35. I ran into my brother’s friend last night at Wegmans who nearly died of it in April. Over 2 weeks on a ventilator. He’s doing pretty well but still doesn’t have much feeling or function in one arm. He said his lungs are fine. Medical Bills well over 200k but his portion was under $300. It was great to see him. Lots of prayers answered.

It is like grape Nehi! It is aboot as close to a pour oot as I come, but my German and probably some Irish and Scottish genes will have no part of that. AB snookered me.

  42. So glad they reached their goal. There are a lot of nasty people out there, but even more kind ones. As Mr Rogers' mother used to say "look for the helpers". In every tragedy or disaster, there will be "helpers" and they can help restore your faith and hope.
