  1. A good looking bike dude decided to marry a bike gal. They had their bikes at the altar front of the room. The bikes were covered with flowers. The food was divine. A good time was had by all.

  2. Sometimes we forget to count blessings first. I found myself in that situation today. I had been to the hospital trying to keep Einstein’s spirits up but he is pretty low today. He has seen three covering cardiologists this weekend. Each has a different theory. Still waiting on the guys from Boston Scientific but they don’t work weekends so no news on whether the unit is defective. We were walking in the halls round and round and round so many people look much worse than he does. I stay a little longer than I should and then go to leave. There is a very peaceful protest in front of the hospital. They are, however, blocking the exit to the parking garage and the one on the other end of the garage is closed because it is a weekend. So I sit and wait and wIt, getting more annoyed by the moment. I was worried about the dogs because we don’t like to leave them more than four hours. I was getting my phone to call Couch to see if he could go let them out and finally they started moving. Protest at hospital was peacefully over and they were moving downtown. I watched them march kindly by chanting no justice, no peace. Then I remembered that my annoyance was very self-centered. I was merely inconvenienced. I was going home to great dogs, my husband will probably live, my house is safe, and I am not afraid of walking down my hometown streets. I have nothing to be annoyed about.

  3. Man you have to watch those bastiges. I was paying about $8 a month and got my auto renewal notice, $20 a month! Yeah F that so I called to cancel the service. Oh wait Mr ChrisL, we want to keep you as a loyal customer, we can keep the existing rate. You know, that’s OK, just cancel me. Oh wait, I found a better offer $6.50 a month. You know my wife was laid off, this really isn’t an expense I need (not entirely true but wanted to see what they would do). Oh I’m so sorry Mr ChrisL, how about I take that down to $5.50 a month including taxes & fees. OK that I can do. My subscription went from $240 a year to $66!

  7. My car was hit from behind last night. Even though the light had turned green, a neighborhood “prophet” was in the middle of the crosswalk, so I didn’t start moving. He wanders the streets, wears a robe and carries a metal antenna in the shape of a cross. He was walking across the street. I couldn’t go even though the light was green. But a car from behind me went, and rammed into the back of my car. I didn’t think I was hurt at the time, but this morning my neck and my left wrist are a little sore. Nothing too bad, just noticeable.

  11. It is a scouting tradition for troop meetings to end with an inspirational story from a leader. At this weekends event, I was asked if I had any good Scoutmaster minutes as they were looking for ideas. I had one rolling around in my mind and explained it to the leader of the event and not only did he like it, he asked if I would present it at the camp fire that evening. It went something like this. Recently I was honored to be able to serve on an Eagle Scout project where the prospective Eagle Scout was building a fenced in storage area at his church for the use of the church and the neighboring YMCA. I explained how the scout took great care in making sure the posts were plumb and then he ran a level line for the botton of the pickets to align to and stopped every few boards to check that the pickets were all straight and true using a long level. But late that afternoon, a storm rolled in and in the rush to get as much work done as possible he joined us in putting the boards on the fence and stopped looking at the line and checking the pickets with a level. After the storm we went back out to work on the fence and we found that our boards were no longer straight and level and we had to remove all the pickets we put up in a rush. I then stopped and asked the scouts what the heck building a fence had to do with Scouting. I was met by silence so I asked one scout sitting way in the back, in the dark to stand and repeat the Scout Oath and Law. Without being able to see him, I was able to walk straight to his voice. I then explained that just like the levels and line that we used to build the fence, to keep it straight and level that Scouts had the words and principles of the Scout Oath and Law. And just like when the storm came and we forgot to pay attention to our guides, our fence got unlevel and crooked, I encouraged them to live their lives by the words of the Scout Oath and Law, not only when it was bright and sunny, but when the storms of life came, it was even more important to have a moral compass to keep you headed in the right direction.

  13. I worked with a very attractive woman and I don’t know why but the topic of tattoos came up during a meeting. She was asked if she had any and she replied: “You don’t put bumper stickers on a Bentley.” Interesting take... I was one of the few guys in my MP company without ink. I really don’t have anything against it and even went to a parlor. I just didn’t see anything I wanted on me for the rest of my life.

  16. I don't agree. What are they hoping to accomplish by inconveniencing hospital patients, visitors, or staff? I would not have been as patient. I don't go to work because I love the long hours or small (comparable) pay. I do it because I believe in the mission of my hospital, to take care of people.

  20. I don’t believe I have had sloppy joes since I was a kid so no, I don’t make my own sauce. I think I’d rather have pulled pork smothered in a tangy bbq sauce on a bun but to each their own. Damnit, now I’m gonna want sloppy joes now that I have had my chicken & dumplings & bought some sardines!

  30. I fit in where I am. I love the local cuisine, I like doing the things the locals like to do. Most of all, my close relatives live close and we are a very close family and also close to some of the in-law families. As the oldest sibling and our parents have passed, I'm the substitute grandparent for a lot of my nephews' activities.

  45. Because some people have big pots. sardines are ok, we buy them frequently for the dogs. They help with trace minerals in their diet. I prefer anchovies. @Further, by a tube of anchovy paste for cooking. Then just squeeze out a small amount and throw the tube in the fridge.

  46. I don't think it's a moral question, but I can understand wanting a house you've loved to end up in "good hands". After my Dad died, my Mom moved to an apartment in the same building as my sister. It allowed her to have her independence, but my sister was an elevator away to help with shopping and chores. My Mom would often comment how nice her neighbors were and how they'd chat or help her with various things. A few months after my Mom passed, the neighbors approached my sister about purchasing the apartment. The woman's father had died, and they were looking for a place for her mother where she could keep her independence but be nearby. We had met the mother, and she was a lovely woman - if my Mom were alive, they'd have been good friends. We knew what prior apartments in the building sold for, so we came up with a price that seemed reasonable. We probably could have made more if we listed it, but this was an easy transaction and it just felt right. We even included some furniture that my Mother loved but none of us had room for. A few months after she moved in, the woman left the most lovely note on my sister's door - about how peaceful the apartment is and how she loves sitting on the balcony enjoying the sunrises and the bird sounds She mentioned how the furniture and the apartment was such a blessing to her during a difficult time. . It was the sweetest note and it just made us all feel good. Good luck with the sale. I suspect you'll know what you want to do when you see the offers. Price is definitely important, but so are getting other terms you like and perhaps just feeling "good" about the deal.
