  1. I never liked the concept of the malls. You park out in the acres of parking lot and make your way into the mall, trying to remember where you parked. Anything you buy at any of the stores you have to haul around with you to other stores. I always avoided them even when they were the place to go. That said I am thankful for one mall where my parents lived. We were visiting my parents over Christmas and my mom wanted to go to the mall for something. We went with her and the mall was promoting different local agencies in the concourse. My mom saw someone she knew at one of the booths. She went over and started talking to her friend. We stood back and waited for my mom to finish talking to her friend. I looked at the banner over her booth, it said children’s services, foster care, adoptions, group homes. I walked over and my mom introduced me to her friend. I asked her about adoptions and if they handled infant adoptions. She said they did. I asked if they had any infants to adopt right now. She said they did, they had a newborn baby boy. I asked her if we could adopt him and she said we may not want him, he is black. I told her I love little black babies. She told us to go home and pray about it and call her back. We called her back the next day and went and picked up our son the following day. That lady ended up helping us with all three of our adoptions. I never would have me her without the mall.

  2. Our power went out. It’s a beautiful day, sun shining bright. I was just going to wait for the electric to come back on. I was working on the cars and the air compressor quit. Then I got a call from my wife, her bed was sinking. Her fancy anti-bedsore air mattress was going flat. She also had hospice coming to give her a bath and change her catheter and the bed has to be flat for that. The generator works good, kinda noisy.

  5. We have started getting more active. Had eight activities this weekend, from hiking to canoeing to cleaning up a creek. Last night we got to be the honor guard to celebrate the 90th birtday of the guy that got me into Scouting and who works tirelessly as a volunteer in our hood.

  7. Those are wonderful, Thank you! And if I get confused or want to end the call, I can just shout "I need air" and disconnect.

  8. Whelp, power is back on. I’m glad I bought that generator. We had no idea we would have that electric bed when I bought it. We also have an oxygen generator but we are not using it anymore.

  9. Put in about 3/4 mile of new sled dog trail in the woods. This is more rolling and more curves than the 7 miles of field trails we have been using. If I can get a creek crossing I will have another mile or more of woods trails we can run on. We will use them for dryland and hope to have more snow to run on this winter. The last 2 winters have been disappointing for snow. These new trails will be fun if we get enough snow.

  14. Meet Jasper the baby GSD with Parvo 😢 We would like you to meet Jasper.... he was an owner surrender when he tested positive for Parvo last night and the owners wanted to euthanize..... can you imagine anyone wanting to put that face to sleep? The vet tech reached out on a long shot and we said that we wanted to help.... he’s just 6 weeks old and one of the youngest we’ve ever treated.... we are praying hard and hoping he pulls through.

  15. After one week. I have to keep the stitches covered in ointment for another week, but having no bandages is a relief. Going to the dentist in half an hour for drilling and filling. Fun never ends in my exciting life. I’m also growing a beard. Looks like it will match my Jeep, grey.

  18. It's not working completely right. If you own a generator, your power should not go out. Same goes with snow tires and not snowing.

  24. The ballot proposals here in Michigan were all pretty straight forward. What required research was I wanted to vote against incubates on my village council. I had to find out who they were. Be careful with the drop box you choose.

  26. Small loan approved, we sign today. We will buy our building permit likely tomorrow. Bids should be coming in this week, and I think we will be buying a cargo container after all. The box will be excellent for storing crap until we sell. We will have an address # soon. You get that when you buy your building permit or around that time I guess. The power company meets us today and we already talked to the gas man. Everything is moving along very well. Lumber market commodity prices fell sharply the last week or so.

  27. ...hi, Kirby. You are in luck, because I used to be a coffee snob. That was back before I gave up caffeine. I even roasted my own in a hot air popcorn popper, from green beans I bought from the local roaster places here, of which there are many. California, as you might imagine, is filled with coffee snobs. Most people react well to almost any of the various coffees grown and harvested in Hawaii. Often they are called "100% Kona coffee", or "Kona blend."It doesn't matter who roasts them, as long as they don't urn the roasted beans. But as soon as the beans are roasted, the clock starts ticking on the volatile oils (that make up the coffee beverage besides water) starting to go a little "off" tasting from oxidation. Thus we get various forms of vaccuum packed coffee beans, etc. Kona coffee beans yield a nice full flavor without a lot of acid bite. Anyway, that's about all I can tell you. There are some much more exotic coffees available here, that are grown on various coffee plantations in Central American countries. Not sure you could buy them easily there. And there's always the insanely expensive stuff that is first consumed by civet cats, who then pooped out the beans. Personally, I'm not drinking anything that came out of a cat's ass.

  35. 400 more posts to go. I think I'd pass on the BMW. I'd take 2 week all expense paid Hawaii vacation. Since we all have different needs, the prize should be like the olden days version of Wheel of Fortune where the winner gets to go on a shopping spree. The ad money SW gets from this site could easily cover the costs.

  37. Everyone (including me) thought it was my appendix based on location, although I didn’t have a fever and I commented “but there’s no rebound tenderness, either.” That gave the ER nurse a chuckle. Then the ER physician came over and said based on my pain, she was calling kidney stone. I felt very happy being able to go into work today, and not be post op somewhere.

  39. Steve buys driver level restorations. Clean, complete, correct but not flawless or of the price that you would feel sick if something happened to it. He uses them. Drives them on weekends, to shows, in parades. Heck he used his old pick up to carry flags for our Scout troop.
