  3. No kickstand or streamers but I added big mittens. This bike is a game changer. It rides like a mountain bike. It was so much fun to ride. I had zero knee pain. It's light and climbs really well. I'm glad I added the dropper post. It gave me some stability on the descents. Shimano is awesome. I love the ergonomics of the shifter. XT brakes are the bomb. The trails were pretty buff today so I flew around. I do plan to put a bigger tire up front. I think 4.8 Jumbo, Jumbo Jim. And @ChrisL was right. The seat was too low. Fixed.

  6. I have a job for @BR46. Oscar Mayer is hiring drivers for the wienermobiles. You could drive the wienercycle even though it looks like a Vespa. You could modify it. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/17/business/oscar-mayer-wienermobile-job-trnd/index.html

  7. There is a ton of levers and buttons on it. It’s a really old Vulcan made thing. I did some towing, slinging, and used it to deliver a cargo pod to this spot where we are putting in a wormhole gate. Kinda fun to work with. Once Scotty has his dilithium crystals together he wants to work on it and make it nicer. It runs well. (With apologies to DH, and a bow of respect as I’ve never driven a working tractor…)

  9. A couple just got married and on the night of their honeymoon before passionate love, the wife tells the husband, "Please be gentle I'm still a virgin." The husband being shocked, replied, "How's this possible? You've been married three times before." The wife responds, "Well, my first husband was a gynecologist and all he wanted to do was look at it. My second husband was a psychiatrist and all he wanted to do was talk about it. Finally, my third husband was a stamp collector and all he wanted to do was...oh, do I miss him!"

  13. My Friday blood test results were posted on my patient portal today. My A1c dropped, thanks to continuous monitoring with the Freestyle Libre monitor, from 11.3% to 8.3%. Since my avg. blood sugar according to the app's records has been 164 mg/dL for the past 90 days, which is equivalent to an A1c 7.3, and 160 mg/dL (7.2) for the last 30 days, I expected a lower number but am not disappointed. My numbers continue to improve. I'm sure my doctor won't want to change anything. I'm hoping that, in a year, I've got the numbers low enough I can begin ending some of the many meds I'm taking for type-II diabetes. Here are the two pages of the sheet I printed out to show my doctor when I see him Friday for my blood test follow-up. The first graph is from my pages on my doctor's office's Patient Portal, the 5 graphs with blue menu bars on top are from the Freestyle Libre Phone App:

  24. I think a lot of it is just how the person is wired. My daughter will always pay us back without us having to ask for but my son won’t. I have dead beat siblings too but I always pay off my debts. When I was in college I had an odd semester where my Army College money was delayed and I needed to pay tuition. I asked my mom if she could spot me tuition and I’d pay her back when my Army money came. When I went to pay her back she started crying, you’re the only one who offered to pay me back. She then pulled out a book with unpaid debts she kept on each kid who borrowed money off her. She noted paid in full in her ledger, then said keep it, it’s my contribution to your education.

  37. I think it's important to remember it's remarkable we even have a vaccine to distribute, given the normal timelines for vaccine development. Many people worked long and hard just to get to that point. I know one engineer in particular who made personal contributions to streamlining the vaccine manufacturing process that helped bring it more quickly to market. Regarding the distribution, there's enough blame to go around, not just on the federal level but at state and local levels too, simply because each of those organizations have a piece in setting up the process. Governments (pick your level) have known a vaccine has been coming for months, giving plenty of time to set up systems and test them. There's no excuse for systems to crash or for people to wait hours to register. Apologies, but I don't consider it understandable at all. Example: Here in NY vaccine doses were thrown away because the strict rules for dispensing the vaccine gave hospitals the choice of throwing the doses out or getting fined for giving the doses to people who weren't yet eligible. And I'm going to take the extra step of calling out phrases like 'as some adults come into the room' and 'getting shafted by the White House'. Again, apologies if that's getting personal by mentioning direct comments, but those are the sort of statements that can be easily interpreted as sidelong political comments; the type that drove me away from this place before. I returned because it appeared SW had a good handle on it and it seemed people posting had gained additional respect for their fellows to leave such matters out of this Forum. Take me to task on this if you wish. To me its a matter of consideration for others that we understand we all have different political views, and that we put them aside here so we may enjoy each other's company. Believe me, if SW were to permit it I could drench this Forum with political innuendo. But then I would be disrespectful of everyone else on this Forum and it would be total waste of my time because it would change no one's mind anyway. I readily understand passions run high on some matters; they do for many people on many topics. I have no authority here as SW and the moderators do, so all I can do is but ask, kindly and respectfully, that we be especially mindful to keep politics and political references out of our discussions to keep this place pleasant and amiable.

  41. Without too many details it was work related and involved an icy step and an emergency that needed an immediate intervention. I intervened for staff safety and during that part involved a hit just right to the glasses, face shield, eye. All calmed and I stepped backwards to give space. That is when I stepped on the edge of the icy step and went plop. Two freaky accidents in one but in the end all is ok. I also get to maintain my reputation of not asking staff to do anything that I would not do myself. that said, I may be getting to old for physical interventions with young adults who are in distress.
