Moved the old TV and AV receiver into the basement. My old JVC amp was just not working that well anymore. A Carver receiver I got in a horse trade would drop out intermittently on one channel. I had read that was common for the amplifier portion as they age. Got the surround sound, TV, DVD and Roku all working fine. Downside is the Onkyo receiver doesn’t have a phono pre-amp, nor a tape loop for my CD recorder. My budget doesn’t have a pre-amp in it at the moment. But this is also the time of year to just sit in the basement listening to LPs. What to do. I suddenly remembered the Carver had an RCA jumper from pre-amp to amp. I connected the pre-amp out to the Aux input on the Onkyo. Hooked up the turntable to the Carver and it all worked! It also sounds better than any setup I have had in the basement in a long time! Now to set up the CD recorder so I can transfer some of the LPs to my digital collection....7 points

Things are looking really good, she just needs to quarantine for treatments.... I don't think I told you all the story of my step-dad going grocery shopping for the first time in about 30 years. The short version is that my mom gave him a list and he came back with about $500 worth of groceries for two people. He bought a lot of meat because it was on sale. He had to go back this weekend to pick up a few things. One thing my mom put on the list was a chocolate bar. My mom has treated herself with a Hershey bar after grocery shopping as far back as I can remember. All she wanted was a plain old Hershey bar. Instead of a Hershey bar, my step-dad got her a family pack of Oreos, a bag of Lindt chocolates, and six different fancy dark chocolate bars from the gourmet section of the store. He's trying his best.6 points

I think that you should set up a webcam for us. Kinda like @sheep_herder's Miles city cam. We could keep an eye on them. You could even give us the contractors cell number and we can text him when he is doing something wrong.6 points

Awww, that's sweet that he wanted to get her some nice treats, but sometimes you just want a plain chocolate bar. Next time he may want to consider shopping at the gas station. it does make things easier.5 points

I was scheduled for 2 appointments on Friday..the cancelled 1 ..not sure why...they cancelled the annual physical..when 3 weeks ago they insisted I make a second appointment for the pre-op... Apparently we had a domestic issue in the building...7 squads, dogs and a helicopter around midnight. Barbara died..the lady diagnosed just last week... Just frustrated...tired of being the glue that holds this place together...4 points

I don’t have Bose but I have headphones that are noise canceling. I bought them online when I needed to hear my phone ring while mowing or snow blowing or running the chainsaw. They not only block out the noise but when the phone rings the music stops and I push a button on the right headphone and answer the phone. They worked great for that all summer if my wife needed me she could just call me. Her condition has got worse and she is unable to use the phone now.😥 I need to make a run into town but I’m afraid to leave her for a short run. I expect from the way she has been acting one of these times she will fall asleep and just not wake up.4 points

We just got back home. My Dad is still clinging to life. My brother is able to stay until the ‘time’ comes. Then I’ll spell him so he can get back home before the funeral. If my Dad still makes it to Friday, I’ll head up again for the weekend. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. We read him his favorite Irish story today, the picture is from last St Patrick’s day.4 points

I last rode my bike on the 24th. If felt good to ride, and even though it rained cats and dogs before and after both rides that day (10 mile each way), I didn't get rained on. The bike got disgusting though, but living in a NYC apartment, I really didn't know how to wash it without a hose or access to the outside world and buckets of water to rinse and wash with. I was frustrated, but found a way to improvise.3 points

Mike and I have done many MS rides together in the past. I recruited him years ago and his motivation was that his Dad had MS. In the meantime Mike has been diagnosed with MS, he is doing remarkably well managing the disease and we hope that continues. BikeMS Chesapeake Challenge will be a one day event this year so we formed a team, JABR (Just Another Beer Run) with Daniel and Rodel making up the rest of the team. Training starts soon.3 points

Ah, Florida. The hotbed of US Nationalism, but also a welcoming tourist economy! I agree with the decision to vaccinate everyone. The virus doesn’t check passports, so if you want to eradicate it from your community, you get everyone vaccinated. But that also includes the undocumented workers in the laundromats, groceries, restaurants and fields, not just the snowbirds.3 points

That is so cool that you were able to spend the weekend and read to him. The day before my dad passed my wife and I and our youngest son and his girlfriend (now his wife and the mother of their six kids) visited him at my brother’s home. Our son brought his guitar and he and his girlfriend sang my dad’s favorite hymns to him. He passed the next morning. I wish he could have lived to see his great-grandkids. He always loved red hair and three of my son’s kids have beautiful red hair.3 points
