  1. I was planning on heading down to Georgia tomorrow to help with the cleanup at the son's house but I was told to stay home. I guess that the church that his neighbor belongs to is coming over to cleanup his and several other neighbors yard. Then the company that my son works for is sending over some employees from his department to help cleanup his yard on company time. So now we are planning on going down after the front-end loader, skid steer and bucket truck finish ripping up the yard removing trees and stumps to help with the landscaping. When I talked to my son this morning he was making coffee for his neighbor because my son is the only one in the hood with a generator.

  3. It has been very windy. The wind is coming off the high mountains and it has been bitter. My fatigue has been bad. Yesterday, I came home, ate and went to bed. Today seems much better. I am going to ride to the build today and see how much siding got put on. That is their focus now. Siding, and then windows. Our windows are here except for the transoms. Very exciting.

  5. I don't have a Royal Enfield, but I do have two Lee Enfields. One is a #4-MK1 and the other is a #5-MK-1. Both are chambered in .303-British, both made in the UK, not the cheap Indian models.

  8. This. HAHA Yes, agreed. YOu may have missed the joke. I was seeing trucks for the construction company at this place as we had very slow progress. I told people here how jealous I was seeing the trucks at this bank and less at my little build. In all honesty, they started earlier. Yup. We have been very chill with them about completion dates. We had 4 people on my site today. They were working away. Looking very busy.

  9. As Hannibal on the A-Team would say...I love it when a plan comes together! With all my jockeying around, they essentially paid me to upgrade with two iPhones. All total, I made around $300 net, replacing an IPhone 6s and SE (first generation) with an iPhone 12 and 12 mini!

  18. not like y’all care or anything, so I’m just going to tell you anyways. <takes a deep breath> Saturday morning at 3:30am I picked up out late aunts dog from the apartment were she was being taken care of and started our journey to her new forever home. (Sadly we could not take her in with all our dogs.) We started out and got to see a lot of cool things on our way to Ca with a pot stop in Red Rock Canyon Nv. There was still snow on the ground in New Mexico, and think I found a couple places I want to hike on the way back through the state. Arizona (flagstaff area) is awesome to drive through. You could see the snow covered mountain about an hour and a half away. (got some good pics with the DSLR camera.. y’all will have to wait for them) Made it into NV area of the red rock hiking area around 7pm. A tad later then I wanted, but still made good time. As I was driving that zig zag back road, I also hit two damn so lies just walking along down the middle of the street. I arrived at the spot I picked from google maps. It has nice Scenery. I spread the ashes of my aunt there because that’s what I was told to do, and also I was told she liked Vegas and that area. Off to Ca I went. Got across the boarder at 10pm, and found the first good place to pull off and get some sleep.. invade your ever in the area. Valley Wells Safety rest area on 15 southbound is a good place. Had a spot to pull off the parking lot and toss up the tent. got up around 6:30am, brushed my tooth, fed the wild man eating Chihuahua, and off we went.. three hours later she was at her new forever home. I spent some time with all their ankle bitters and it was a perfect fit. She actually let maureen pick her up and hold her.. something not many people could do. it was time to jet and so I did.. onto my next stop. Now I’m back in Az where the gas prices are under $4 and in the middle of nowhere.. this is what I like and it’s been city living well too long. to hint is going to be dinner in a little bit, just got the tent set up, and then astrophotography until who knows when. here are some pics. Not in any particular order!

  19. Rode my CruX today. Rode to the property. Quickly chatted and then was riding back. I was literally almost to the cross street of my current house and SNAP, my rear cable snapped. Of course, I am in the hard ass gear and I have a big hill to climb to get back. So I booked it to my house and grabbed my seek and ride back. Ten minutes late for my lunch hour. That seek is like old reliable. The studs were whirring as I busted ass back to work. Old trusty. We need to swap tires. I did have snow like last week, so I hate to take them off too early. I don't know what is up with that inttersection. Last time I had a mechanical on a bike, my crank arm fell off cause I sheared off the crank fixing bolt. Same damn intersection. HAHA

  20. ...is still "a thing"! I was on a ride the other day and pulled up to a light. In the turn lane was a guy on a motorcycle. I said, "Nice bike" and because he was on a motorcycle, he heard, "New bike?" He responded that he had recently gotten it, and I commented - after noting it was a Royal Enfield - that I liked it but didn't realize they were still in business. He said something like "Yep and since 1909". Anyway, the light changed and he motored off and I headed on my way. Funny thing is that about 30 minutes later, as I was rolling up the road along the beach, I again stopped for a light, and ahead of me and to my right, I saw him roll up in the turn lane. I waved, he waved, and then I continued on my ride. Funny. I think it was a Himalayan because it had one of those logo doodads on it:

  22. So, back to soul crushing winds... I was riding my bicycle up a hill, quartering into a pretty strong wind that was getting a lot stronger as I crested the hill. I was cussing the wind but then I spotted a redwing blackbird, trying to fly into the wind and over the crest of the hill. He would fly close to the ground and be doing fine, then clear the crest of the hill and hit the full force of the wind. He would be flapping franticly forward and moving backward till he dropped down out of the full force of the gale. I watched this cycle at least 4 times before I cleared the crest and left the bird still fighting the wind. I had to pedal harder but at least I kept on going forward, actually felt bad for the bird. Looked like somebody's version of bird hell.

  25. I had a crap ton of Army men growing up but I don’t remember the packaging or even how I got them. I had BB & pellet guns growing up and I would set them up in the back yard and snipe them. Our backyard wasn’t deep but it was long, maybe 25-30 yards . I’d set them up in a planter on one end of the yard & snipe them from the other end of the yard. I bet the current owners of the house are still digging up dead army men in that planter.

  26. Dink. Out goes the power. After a while we start looking around and about 50 yards up the street a tree is on fire. It's leaning on the power lines. There are 73 customers in the current outage. After a few hours the trucks show up and in less than 45 minutes the bring an end to the 4 hour outage. Yea. The end.

  32. A replacement for my Honeywell S8600M. A new ignition control module for our furnace. The little tab connector for the spark igniter was wonky. Saturday it bit the dust completely. For the last couple of days I’ve been lighting the furnace with a lighter. My furnace is old so I had to figure out the replacement for the ICM and ordered it from Amazon Saturday evening. It came in this afternoon. It took about 10 minutes to replace (once I made sure I understood the change in wiring on the new ICM.

  34. Tuesday, by the way, is named after the god Mars. "BS!", you might retort, pointing out, "if it were then it would be called 'Marsday' or some such." Ah, to that I would reply that the Norse people named it after their god of war, 'Tyr' and the Old English variant of Tyr was "Tiw's Day" which morphed into Tewesday in Middle English and finally landing on the Tuesday we all know and love.

So many elder dogs have a hard time fining homes and it makes me so sad to think of a person's beloved companion ending up alone and homeless. Your post fills me with good thoughts.
