  1. She recognized the glass from a few years ago, I unearthed it recently. She had fun being fancy!

  2. I didn’t ride this week, and by Thursday I was kind of lost. Just a 12 mile ride this morning and I’ve got a vision for finishing up the school year. I can see how important my commute is to the work I do.

  5. For a guy who hasn't ridden in 9 months, I find having the pedal assist is really a great thing. It's true it does steal away some of the magic knowing I self propelled my way down the road for 20 miles, but really the only thing I notice is that I can go further and faster as my cadence never really changes. The other thing that became clear, is that I no longer had pockets of what I'll call muscle fatigue and I was grinding it out. Oh except once on the steepest hill. But I alleviated that by kicking up the level of assist from the lowest to the middle. If I kicked into the highest I'd probably be in @Razors Edge back yard. I think I'm still in the market for a new steel frame and a touring/zippier bike -- but there's really no rush. I can ride with no assist at all and get even a greater workout because the bike is heavier -- but then it comes with a built in granny gear with a small front chain ring so it's one half doze the other. But I think the biggest gain of an e-bike is they are incredible hill busters. I ride 20 miles, I hit that big hill near home and I cruise right up it without destroyed hammies and sweat dripping down my chest. Well not as much anyway. The end.

  7. I don’t know if this will make you smile but it surely would make my wife smile. My wife was always crocheting blankets for people. When my son John got married he and his wife came up to spend Christmas with us. Esther was making a blanket as she usually did. Our daughter in law was fascinated and wanted to know how to crochet. Esther taught her how and told her you tube could help her if she got stuck. Esther was working on a full size blanket for one of the twins when she got sick. As the blanket progressed I could see she was having a harder time with it than she ever did. Her vision was failing and her hands were shaking. The blanket was almost done and I suggested that she finish the row she was on and call it done. She said she wanted to add one more section. She was never able to get back to it and she passed away with a beautiful unfinished blanket that was almost done. I thought I was going to have to throw away the beautiful blanket because I didn’t know how to finish it. My daughter in law said “I’ll finish it for you Dad, mom is the one who taught me how to crochet”. Tonight she is working on it and has it almost done. It should be finished tomorrow. I sure hope my wife can look down from heaven and see this.

  8. Pretty darn good moneymaker for a local tulip farmer! $12 just to walk through and $1 per tulip picked! I am glad they hit the tiptoe through the tulips angle in their write-up, otherwise it wood have been like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Not sure if the daughters are coming down for this this weekend of peak blooms or not. https://daltonfarmsnj.com/

  13. ...I love you guys! Yesterday I had a text conversation with UglyBob, he and his wife sent RO more bath bombs, which she loves beyond all reason. I hope this fun never dies, she just digs them and I don't have to talk her to the bathtub at all when bath bombs are involved. Just previous to that, there was a big package for me, the long delayed table set arrived! Woot! It went together smooth like butter, too, I only had to finesse one chair cushion, and just a touch at that. It really looks like something I would have designed if I had talent that way, and it absolutely fits in perfectly in terms of decor and space! Then last night, another mystery package came. This one came in incognito, no telling who it was from (although now I strongly suspect jsharrt). It was a small box that contained the coolest refrigerator magnet set I have ever seen! The magnets are glass and they look just like planets (because they are supposed to, I gathered), I will attach a photo in a minute or two, but will save the unboxing for RO tonight... You guys rock, and I can't tell you how big my smile was when I went to bed last night! Yay!

  21. The flooring guys said they would need to remove toilets to floor the bathrooms and if we wanted new toilets they’d put them in & haul away the old at no charge. So we got some new ones and I chose toilets that are about 2” higher than the others. I figured with my arthritic knees I could use the boost. Surprising how much difference a couple of inches makes! It is way easier on the knees, getting up is easier and other than crashing down hard the first time as I misjudged the height there really is no negative to having a taller toilet. Not sure if @Dirtyhip or @MickinMD have already picked toilets but definately something to keep in mind.

  23. Great exercise, 3 sets, 10 reps each. The flooring guys said they would spot me if I needed it. I figured with my arthritic knees I could use the help.. Not sure if @Dirtyhip or @MickinMD have already lifted their toilets but definately something to keep in mind.

  26. It's very strange....when I walked in a store today, I realized there's no point browsing in men's sportswear. We were together for last 30 years. He has been a very much his own happy individualistic guy...also loved to learning all sorts of things in past few decades.

  30. "Comfort Height" is the new thing..as opposed to the older traditional "handicapped" toilet which was even taller... For what it is worth my 6ft tall aunt had a tall toilet..lived at her house for al.ost a year...and my feet never touch the ground while sitting on the throne I did not enjoy that.

  35. Maxie. Petal Assist is not a throttle. If I wanted a throttle, I would have bought a motorcycle. Wait. No I wouldn't have. Those things make road pizza and scrambled eggs out of people. Much safer to be on the road on a bike. Right?? I mean right?? Cars and bikes go together.
