She was working on a full size blanket for each of the twins when she died. I saw she was struggling with it and encourage her to finish it the size it is. She said no I want to add one more section or it won’t look right. She wasn’t able to finish it. I didn’t know what to do with it and my daughter in law said “I’ll finish it for you dad, Esther taught me how to crochet”. They are packing to drive back to Georgia right now. She finished the blanket this morning.21 points

Today was the first time I used the live update on my shiny new garmin computer. Left at around 5:30 put in a 30 mile out n back. Asked my wife if she got the email (she's on the notification) and she said sure. I was kinda excited interested and followed up with how'd it look. She said it was kinda boring. The dot was moving so slow. That hurt honey, that hurt.10 points

My son just left to go back to Georgia. This is my first time alone in this big house. We stood in the driveway saying goodbye for about an hour. We had multiple hugs with everyone and photos. He couldn’t bring himself to get in the car and go. I finally said “You better get in and start driving, you got a long way to go”.9 points

I got to ride in an ambulance to the ER. Didn't know if I was having a heart attack, stroke, etc... Turns out I had a rare type of food poisoning called Scromboid poisoning. You can get it in undercooked shrimp. Just so happens I ate shrimp tacos from Rubio's for dinner. Won't be going back thee for a while...6 points

I changed toilets as my wife’s condition worsened. First I went to the taller toilets with a step stool for the grandkids. Them I added a adult commode with armrests over over the tall toilet. Grandkids were instructed to use the other bathroom. For the last 15 months she was bedridden and used a bedpan and a catheter and finally just used a disposable bed pad because she was unable to tell me when she had to go. It was actually easier for both of us than the bedpan. I know it’s TMI but that is the way it goes sometimes when life winds down. I was honored to be able to care for her when she couldn’t care for herself.6 points

I didn’t ride this week, and by Thursday I was kind of lost. Just a 12 mile ride this morning and I’ve got a vision for finishing up the school year. I can see how important my commute is to the work I do.6 points

Here’s his latest text: Am in Paris at the Centre Cardiological Nord in St Denis. I suffered a serious heart attack. The two extra days in Sierra Leone helped me stabilize but serious damage to the heart has occurred. Some muscle strength may be recoverable. Tomorrow they likely will go in and learn more and maybe install a stent or two.6 points

I was hoping to retire later this year ...and spend years with him in Vancouver. Now, future without him looks less colourful. I'm so glad we did a certain amount of time travelling together to enjoy the world, etc. Take care Wilbur.5 points

This was kinda my point though. No I’m not paying that guy, I’m paying his company who is paying him but from what I’m paying his company I gotta guess he’s getting paid well. But we did hook him up with a $100 bill and he was really appreciative.5 points

I went birdwatching in Newport News Virginia. Saw some Great Blue Herons, woodpeckers, Terns, Blue Jays, and a bright yellow bird that could have been a Prothonotary Warbler, but didn’t sit still long enough for me to get a good look at it. Not sure what we’re doing the rest of the day. Heading to the Outer Banks tomorrow.4 points

We had 75 people come to celebrate the life of Esther. A friend of my son’s flew in from Colorado for the service. His friend Ben’s mom made such an impression on him when he was growing up. I didn’t know how many people would come but but we had a good crowd for a memorial service during Covid. After the dinner a bunch of us went over to Ben’s house so the cousins will have one last chance see each other before my son John takes his family back to Georgia. A family that is real close to Ben’s came over for the day and Ben’s birth mom and her husband were there. Altogether 13 kids and ten adults were there and a good celebration was had by all. I married a special woman and in her 67 years she touched many lives. I didn’t get to bed until after midnight, a very long day for me.4 points

I was doing a job somewhere in Virginia, small town, we were eating at a Waffle House. The first night there I noticed the grill guy was doing a damn good job, I called him over and slipped him a couple bucks. My steaks were perfect for the rest of our stay4 points

tomorrow for the funeral of the daughter of a family friend. I don't do funerals but my wife is Irish and I won't let her make that trip alone. I've been to too many funerals and I simply dread them now.3 points

They built a brand new apartment building in the downtown next to a bar that has bands on Saturday nights. Now that people are moving into the apartments the bar that's been there for 90 years is getting complaints about noise. What were they thinking when they moved into the apartment next to the tavern.3 points

I know exactly what you are saying RS. It has been 8 years last week since I last drove my car to work. The bike rides are my time to think things through and to process what is/has been taking place. A couple years ago when I broke my bike frame beyond repair with one daughter just moving out, one daughter planning a wedding and a son still in University, I was hesitant to replace the bike because we needed the money for other things. My wife told me to stop being an idiot and go get the bike. She said I needed to leave my work stress on the road and not bring it home. Plus, I am a little lazy and once I get home from work and make supper and have a coffee, the last thing I want to do is go work out. This way it is forced physical activity.3 points

Have I ever mentioned the time I drove my bosses' yellow Pantera from Louisville Kentucky back to Chicago? One morning when I got to work, my boss asked if I was willing to drive down to Louisville in his parent's station wagon, take a set of back tires for their Pantera, and make sure they made it back safely. His parents were driving back from Florida and the inside edges of the back tires were worn down to the cords. And apparently, tire stores don't stock 1973 Pantera back tires. After I drove down, and we changed the tires in the motel parking lot, they asked if I would be willing to drive the Pantera home for them as their Buick Roadmaster was much more quiet and comfortable. It was fun for a while, but after a few hours on the interstate, I would have preferred to be in the station wagon too.3 points

I thought this was going to be aboot Prince Philip. Wasn't he Duke of Earl? brb! Ahh, Duke of Edinburgh. But Earl is a title like Duke, eh? brb! What rank is an Earl? Earl is the third rank of the Peerage, standing above the ranks of viscount and baron, but below duke and marquess. Before King Canute (c. 994-1035) an 'ealdorman' administered a shire or province for the king.3 points
