  2. A major local non-profit organization had a garage sale as a fundraiser this beautiful bright Sunday. In the last hr., I biked over full 2 sets of dearie's nearly new suits, complete with 2 shirts and ties and donated them to one of the kind women. Suits all nicely hung in their own garment bag. We laid the bag in her clean car trunk. I hope there's a candidate that 5'10" who is going through one of their employment counselling programs. I feel sad, I would have gone dancing with dearie, so handsome in the suit. But good the suits aren't thrown at a huge sorting facility.

  3. Or not. The gas gauge on my car recently decided to drop to empty when I'd just filled the tank, and then after I'd driven about 20 miles or so the gauge would return to life and put on a performance of reading properly. One could only guess. The youtube videos made the replacement of the tank level sending unit look really easy, which right away made me suspect it wasn't. Nonetheless I ordered online from a reputable national parts chain a new sending unit with "Guaranteed to fit your car!" splattered across the top of of the page in happy letters. Take out the rear seat, disconnect the wiring connectors and fuel hoses, unbolt the fuel pump assembly ring, and take out the fuel pump assembly that looks like this: The arrow points toward the tank level sending unit that snaps onto the side of the reservoir. With a little trial and trouble, the old unit slid off of the reservoir mounting tabs. Well, now to put the guaranteed-to-fit sensor on the reservoir. Or should I say, not to put the guaranteed-to-fit sensor on the reservoir. The tabs on the new unit that matched the reservoir looked exactly the same as those on the old unit. I didn't dare put too much pressure on the plastic parts, otherwise I'd suddenly have many, many more smaller- and newly useless - plastic parts scattered randomly around the place. A closer look at the new unit revealed maybe, just maybe, the horizontal and vertical tabs on the new unit were ever so much larger than the old. An experiment was in order. I got out my Dremel, put a sanding disc on it and experimented slicing tiny pieces of plastic off the tabs on the old unit. That didn't go all that badly, so I graduated to the new unit and sliced some bits off the vertical tab. No go, still wouldn't fit. So then I sliced some bits off the horizontal tabs. Put the new unit on the reservoir, applied a little pressure, and a little more, then SNAP! Now when plastic parts go SNAP! you've either broken something or met with success. This time, I was fortunate and the guaranteed-to-fit part actually did fit after the slight judicious 'modification'. Reassembled all the pieces and parts, checked to see there weren't too many nuts or bolts left over, turned the key on and the gas gauge showed the same level as before. The true test will come when I fill the tank sometime in the next few days.

  4. My wife loved puzzles, all kinds. Me the only puzzles I would do is figuring out how to fix things that need fixing.

  6. A person at work likes to send a question on Monday of things to think about. Today it was-- What is one task or routine that I can eliminate? I want to say coming to work but that would likely be inappropriate.

  7. ...at the Moo Thru? I think it is an @Old No. 7 fave, and as we drove past, I thought, "I think that was somewhere Old#7 has mentioned a few times!". It looked busy, and I had already had some ice cream, but maybe more ice cream is never the wrong thing???

  10. Today Mrs. TK and I went to a state park for a picnic with our daughter, son in law, granddaughter, grandson, Mrs. TK's brother and his wife. Our picnic table and grill were right on the bank of this stream. We spent a good part of the day there, relaxing and enjoying the park and the good weather.

  17. When the grandkids were little and we had them after church for the day they liked going to McDonalds because they had a fun playground. Chicken nuggets and French fries and root beer were their favorite meal. Nana and I had a job to spoil the grandkids so we would sometimes take them there. Their mom feeds them healthy food all week, one meal of junk food shouldn’t kill them.As the girls got bigger we would take them to regular restaurants and they liked that.

  20. My dads cousins husband called and talked to me for about an hour. He asked when the soonest I can come to Ohio and pick up the ‘60 Plymouth Valiant. I told him the soonest I can be up there is the end of September due to having to schedule off work. As we were talking about the new beast in my garage, he told me somethings I didn’t know about the Valiant.. first off. I never knew it was my Great Grandmother’s vehicle, she drove it a total of 35,000 miles or so. After he got the car he did some work and drove it around to the new total of 44,230 miles. By my calculations.. that engine is barely broken in yet after all these years. Looks like I need to make a little more room in the garage.

  24. I have always bagged a lunch, but today I had a craving for some Chinese food. Ordered some hot and sour soup and some pan fried dumplings. Tasty lunch but I’m not making a habit of this. My fortune cookie today read: “A romantic mystery will soon add interest to your life.” WTF I don’t want or need romantic mysteries in my life. Sounds like a recipe for trouble. Bag lunches from now on.

  25. She's been prescribed Brilinta. I don't know the dosage or length of time. If our local military pharmacy carries it, the cost is free. If they don't have it in stock, I can order a 3 moth supply for $29.

  31. I once had a car that the gas gauge quit working. I figured I probably ought to see if I can find the problem but not today. I have other stuff to do. I stopped at the gas station and filled the tank. Reset my trip meter to zero. I knew I could get over 300 miles to a tank of gas. When the trip meter was approaching 300 miles I would refill the tank. Hey this works pretty good. I did that for about three years and then traded in the car.

  39. He has some great cycling clothing, some only 1 yr. old. I phoned one of the charity bike co-ops. They only accept bikes and parts, not clothing. So it will be probably at one of the huge charity sorting facilities.... I would rather given this specialized stuff to a cycling specific organization. Hopefully in Vancouver, his son will take some clothing there....for his 2 little sons....who may grow tall...even taller than dearie in a decade. I know dearie left behind a hybrid bike in Toronto deliberately so that he could bike-commute whenever he visited son in Toronto in the past decade. Yes, little grandsons do bike. ******that's what true cyclists can do if they want to pass on early cycling love in the family....leave a used bike in each family home /garage in every city so that you have a bike to enjoy while visiting family. I have left my oldest bike with a sister, in Toronto for this purpose over the past 20 yrs. and do use it. This can be the REAL purpose of N+1 ..to share cycling love early in extended family...forever.
