BCC's daughter is getting hitched I was given a link to go to, and w/ a couple clicks I RSVP'd. I'm old, but this was more convenient than filling one oot, and sending it in the mail. And within a minute, BCC text me that her daughter was so excited to see I'm going.7 points

After presentation report: I went off script about 5 slides into it and just rolled with it. Turns out it was my best work. The Q&A afterward was 50 people deep! TL;DR I fucking slayed it.6 points

It seems that when you start breaking spokes the wheel is not built/tensioned properly and you are bound to keep breaking them. I have had this happen to me and many others I know. It may be time to replace the wheel if you have already had it retensioned. After breaking a second rear spike in my GRX rear wheel (and getting a fat bonus) I just replaced the wheels.6 points

Not judging, just asking. I'm not shy. I'm 5'9", average build (not slender), currently 212. My heaviest was about 10 or 15 years ago. I'd estimate between 250 and 260. I stopped weighing myself around 240. In high school I was about as muscular as I am now, maybe a little more, and weighed 169. About 5 years ago I got down to the high 170s. I need to get back there. I've slowly been changing my diet and increasing my exercise.5 points

I am 5' 10", and currently weigh 181. My BMI from my last visit said I was obese. The 10-12 # I have lost this year have been because of Covid and the dental work I had done 2 weeks ago. It is my intent to remain between 180 and 185. I feel good, and less weight should help on mountain grades.5 points

That whole leading/trailing debate is almost like chain lube wars. Lots of fierce advocates for both ways, and then others (like me) who don't really believe it makes a hill of beans difference. These days, a high percentage of the wheels I'm building have straight pull spokes, so it is a moot point, but when I do build disc wheels with J bend spokes, I go with the Shimano pattern, because, well, they have engineers and stuff.5 points

I have Mavic open pros for my daily rider. Everyone said I was crazy at the time citing rim cracks and blown spokes. 8 years later, no issue.5 points

Beautiful afternoon in SE VA. Got my SS all tuned/lubed up and went for a ride! I got one block from my house and my rear tire went flat. It could have been worse. I might have been several miles or more from my house when it happened.4 points

Please don’t do this. A crowd of 6k naked people all staring at you is a nightmare scenario. Enjoy the moment. 💞4 points

It seems our Nespresso pods are on back order with our coffee vendor and the VP of benefits (the one I whipped out my blade & opened her advil) was complaining about not having any to PITA office manager. Sorry they are out nothing I can do… I’d eaten some wicked spicy chili with beans for lunch, so I snuck into PITA office manager’s office and crop dusted it but good. Melted the artificial flowers on her desk, then closed the door on my way out. Whatcha think, is chili with beans a good deal???3 points

Years ago in HS and college (during the 70s) I rode my bike a LOT and played in pickup / intermural basketball games. 6' 3" and no fat... I was skinny but strong. Maybe 180 pounds... can't remember. Then I got a job, a few years later got married. Life got busy... and I worked, chores at home, and lots of did family stuff to do. No more riding. in 2001 I noticed it was difficult climbing stairs. If I recall is was 280 pounds or more. My BMI was 35, well into the obese range. I decided this was bad, and I needed to change. WoBG and I purchsed MTB bikes to ride. At the end of 2003 I purchased my road bike. In the spring of 2004 we purchsed our tandem. Now I weigh 218 (a BMI of 27) which is in the middle of overweight. My wi-fi enabled scale via thier web site, I can download my data into Excel. I added a trend line to the data. I'm slowly slowly losing weight.3 points

Saturday is the Tour de Madison County (VA). We are riding the 42 mile route with 2,200 feet of climbing. Forecast is for a high of 97. We can start the ride as early as 7:00. I think we will.3 points

I am currently around 245. I am 6 foot and broad shouldered. I probably have not weighed under 200 since I was a sophomore in high school. I could easily lose 20 pounds and really should lose 40. My waist size has grown from a 32 in 1982 to a 40 in 2022. So yes, I am overweight and if I do not change my ways, or weighs, I will regret it.3 points

Yes, I am. Some is my health issue and the meds. But of course I suck at exercise and like food.3 points

I was meeting with two VP’s in HR and one of them had a splitting headache and was struggling opening a packet of Advil. I carry a pocket knife with a 3” blade and so reached into my pocket and although haven’t done it in ages opened the blade with a flick of the wrist. The knife went from out of site to out & open in an instant. I’m standing there holding the knife to the VP and she’s says, I’ll pretend I didn’t just see that and hands me the Advil and I slice it open. The other VP: Uh Chris you know our policy on knives right? Yep, you going to report me to security? Report what, I didn’t see anything either! 😂 My pocket knife is the blade I carried as a cop stashed in the straps of my body armor for quick access. I carry it daily but haven’t flicked it open that quickly in over 20 years. I was surprised I could still do it!3 points

Ants eat, sleep, drink beer, and ride motorcycles. Where do you think the old phrase “If brains were gas, he wouldn’t have enough to start a piss ant’s motorcycle” came from?3 points
