Hiding from stalkers and family problems. Wow, what a family I have. I won't say anymore than that as it all went legal. And that stuff on Facebook about a mother would always love a son, BS! I got royally used and screwed. But out of.retirement and back to work. And still get my retirement check too since it's through the company and not ss. Gina doing well but lost her second son couple months back. 🤧 Now she has no children left. Yeah, still riding my bike and feeling great 👍14 points

So, I went back to work at the beginning of January. I had 2 job opportunities in quality control, what I do but chose a manual labor job as it was the only day shift position. I didn't like the way the job looked compared to the QC positions which were nice and clean companies. This one was a mess and I could tell it was hardcore. But I took the physical position so that I could spend my evenings and weekends with Gina. Boy I was sorry the first month thinking my legs were going to fall off. Last time I did this kind of lifting and steel toe boots, I was 32. Now at 59, I was beginning to wonder if I chose the wrong job. But I kept thinking that I've always been a strong guy so hopefully I come around. 2 months in I'm feeling like Conan. Legs are great, cycling is golden again. 5 months in now. Supervisor comes up on Wednesday and says that since he's been super for 2 years, I'm the only guy that has been able to keep up . Part of it is that I can work in the sun all day. 101 was the highest solar about 2 weeks ago? The other guys have to go in about 11 am so they don't get dizzy. I stay out all 8 hours no problem. Heck, we ride bicycles in 105 Temps. Then the plant manager comes up on Friday and hands me a card in front of a couple other employees. She says open this when you're alone because these guys will be jealous. She says don't think we don't notice and appreciate all your hard work. Heck, now I'm the old man kicking arse while the young guys run inside for shelter ha ha ha! Ok, so I open the card and get a nice little note. Oh, and this is a very generous company as well. Lots of goodies, swag, food, BBQ, you name it. A company picnic soon and they are thinking Knotts. In the past. They've taken the employees to baseball games. I told them in the interview. Coworkers have said. Dude, you're one of the only guys I know who comes to work to actually work. Now they know! Yeah. I give 100% every day. I told them I come to work to get my job done so that I can go home to my wife. It's true 👍14 points

So, Gina insisted I buy myself a cap to wear after my bike rides. Of course I'd been talking about it for a while. 😁 So we went to Lids. Cool people but I picked a size for the font. The dude said don't worry man, we'll change it up to what looks best. Returned 30 minutes later to pick it up after embroidery. I was kind of shocked. It's huge. I've had it for about a month but can't get myself to take it out of the bag. Not sure why I want to keep it but I did. I could have returned it within 30 days but I didn't. Maybe it's so freaking big that it provides a bit of security knowing I'll never get lost if for some reason I bang my head really hard after a ride. I bought a Nike cap and a UA cap as well. Each was less than half of what I paid for the huge BEANZ cap. Haven't been able to get myself to wear it but I kept it for some reason. Maybe for one of those days I feel like shocking people. 😄7 points

While 'ballyhoo' is the generally accepted spelling and usage, the lesser-used but grammatically correct form is 'ballywhom'.6 points

After 2nd Son was born, we joined a support group for new parents of special needs children. mr. went once. It’s how they are. I’ve started praying The Rosary every day. I’ll offer intentions of peace and comfort for Gina today while meditating on The Luminous Mysteries.5 points

I've heard that a thousand times but yet Gina did. I do worry about her. She is very unfocused at times. She will stop at a green light, or go on a red light. Her mind is elsewhere at times. I hate to get on her about things understanding her position but I explain to her that as sad as it is, she needs to snap out of it because it's dangerous. She rode her bike some a year after her first and started doing well but then the second son got pretty bad couple months before he passed and she didn't even want to ride her bike anymore. I hope she comes back around but I understand. Even before the second son passed, we could be driving home from a nice dinner out, I'd look over and she'd have tears in her eyes then apologize for crying. No need to apologize, I can't imagine what she's going through. Now with the second one. Very heartbroken.5 points

My sister passed in '98. My Dad who never ever showed emotions was very affected. At Thanksgiving he would give the blessing & mention her. He cried every time for 10 years @Mister Beanz hugs to Gina. Being unfocused & having shit for memory is part of the loss thing. I had the same thing when Woscrapr passed. Still do....but a bit better now 3 years later. A few months after WoScrapr passed I asked a widow in the neighborhood what is going on with me? She explained that the brain has changed & it's part of the "deal" As @MoseySusan perhaps some grief therapy would help edit: I see you answered the therapy thing. Another thing I still do is listen to Grief podcasts. It helps. You see how others react & act to grief https://www.noraborealis.com/podcast https://www.dougy.org/news-media/podcasts https://katebowler.com/everything-happens/4 points

My parents used to use "ballyhoo" frequently as a synonym for "publicity" or "sensationalism." If they were alive today, they'd say something like "What's all the ballyhoo about our grandson Ryan being admitted to pilot training with United Airlines?"4 points

I could have done: Wilbur wants me to use ballyhoo in a sentence or even Donk won't like how I use ballyhoo in a sentence.4 points

Only 1328 miles this year. New job, death, flicked up family, but I'm back on it. New job in steel toe shoes all day like a leg workout. Was tough first month but 2 months in, started feeling great. Did amazing things for my cycling. I feel great on the bike now. Down a few inches, belt notches and lifting steel workouts at work. I feel like freaking Conan the Barbarian. 😄😆😄 Haven't weighed myself but probably down about 20 at least. A few recent pics. 🌮 taco rides, 🍩 donut rides, having a good time 👍4 points

I was wondering, why is there not an approximate symbol (≈) on a cell phone Some people use the Tilde (~) but that's not the same Then I learned holding down the equal sign unhides ≈, ≠, ∞ Some of you may of known this, but I didn't I believe they work in iphones too. https://lifehacker.com/how-to-access-the-hidden-symbols-on-your-android-phone-18474812103 points

So glad you're there to support her. Your comforting presence and listening ear is key. I agree worry about her driving/cycling attention. As I said I lost our sister to suicide. So for my parents it was an enormous shock. We don't really talk about with mother about her much. Partially is language barrier and is very hard to turn a conversation around if she defensively goes somewhere else. However my mother has told various stories about her, to some of my siblings since they all live locally. I'm in another province. What comfort is there? Nothing replaces her. Nothing. That's when I lost my good sleep pattern. Her hubby, adult niece and nephew, who are now each married, are still part of our family gatherings, etc.3 points

The SCOTUS has long declared that protests outside of individuals private homes is protected by free speech, at least when it comes to medical staff who work at facilities where certain medical procedures are preformed. They also allow for public protest beyond 35’ of said medical facilities. And yet they create barriers around the court far exceeding their 35’ precedent.3 points
