  1. Hi Mr. #7. Thanks for the call out. I miss you too. Hope you are well. Is it too hot for baking? It's over 100 here. Oregon is melting. Still in love with Xanadu here. It is just incredible. We have had a few pump track parties at our house. It is so much fun. Those nights, our property is teeming with kids and adults playing on the trails and the track. I have all these zones you can ride through: Celery central, Garlic grove, a bridge over "false creek" and we even have a purge creek. My milkweed is starting to grow after many failures. I am trying to get it established in purge creek (the purge drainage for our salt free water softener system). One of our trees died, the walnut. All others are holding on decently. I have my first hazelnuts that are growing on the tree. So impressed that it is happening already. We have been riding and using our stand up paddleboards all the time. Sadly, we have to drive about 40 minutes to get to clean water to paddle on. I guess some people have it worse in order to get to beautiful zones. The Mr and I have been really enjoying the fact that we can be on good trail in just a few minutes. I can see the mountain from my couch. Oh, and another fun thing. My new pastime is taking a 5 gallon buket down to a petting zoo that is just over my fence. I go down and hand feed cows, chickens and goats. They really like my fresh alfalfa, clover and other assorted edible garden plants. I walk down there and they all come trotting over to the fence. Cow tongue is very similar to a cat tongue. It's very sticky. When I hand them a lettuce plant, they reach out with their tongue. It's quite funny.

  2. Was cruising the neighborhood and found this half done shed. No one was around so I tossed all the parts in the back of my truck. The guy was kind enough to leave a dolly for me. Some parts were screwed together, but it only took a few minutes just to fold everything up. I hope to get a hundred or so for this scrap. Bonus, I got a sweet dolly and a few rakes. Plus, a comfy chair.

  4. With this post I believe the Forum can officially declare that SW does indeed have a sense of humor! The only thing to which I can attribute this inconceivable change is that he has been immersed in the Forum with us for so long that it finally affected his mind in ways he never thought possible.

  5. I needed someone to hold the back and sides mid-wall channel to the inside wall while I, from the outside, put a sheetmetal screw through the wall panel and into the channel on the inside. The front mid-wall channel was easy to install because I could reach around the doorway and the front channel (right in pic) supports the side channel (left in pic): So I just needed to get one more screw into that side channel so it would stay in place parallel to the ground with its sheetmetal screw-starting-holes aligned with the holes in the wall panels. So here's my "Inside Man." Two heavy bases: my 100' garden hose reel and a red, 600 lb capacity hand truck holding some scrap wood that holds the sheetmetal-screw-starter holes in the channel up to the holes in the wall panel. The rake's handle end is in a pocket in the hose reel so, from the outside, I can pull the top of the rake toward me to press the channel firmly against the wall. With my other hand holding a screwdriver with the brass sheetmetal screw and plastic washer on its end, near the middle of the 8' long side wall, I put the screw up to a hole in the wall panel that's aligned with a hole in the channel and tighten it - but leave it loose enough in case I need to slightly shift the parts around. The 2nd pic is the sheetmetal screw working its way into the steel channel: After the first screw goes in, the support from the front channel keeps the side channel in place and lets me insert the rest of that side's sheetmetal screws without needing the Inside Man! I initially skip over spaces and just slightly tighten the screws to make sure all the channels screw-starting holes line up with the wall panels' holes.

  7. So how is this for a win win sitcheeashun? Today I noticed my pay check direct deposit is a little more than usual. I get my pay stub and see an extra day's pay on it. I ask my boss Rosie about it. She said because of a conversation we had the other day, she decided to give me an extra day pay to add a little daily bonus for each day I've spent out in the sun this month. The other day I saw her so I asked if she remembered asking me how I was working in the heat because many have said they didn't have a problem but then after a couple days they can't handle it. So I told her, I told you I can handle the heat you didn't believe me. She said yeah, you are one of the very few. I told ya! So this is a nice surprise, a little extra cash for my allowance. 😄 Another bonus, look at my pants, how many inches have I lost? 😲 I've always been a physical person. Later years working in QC typing reports etc. Nice cush job using the brain but I actually got bored and hate taking responsibility for the lousy craftsmanship of others. I took this job for reasons I've stated before. Keeping active in my later years. I was worried that I might not be able to do it at 59 but after a couple months things clicked into place. Aches and pains vanish, my muscles woke up the young guys at work ask me how I've kept in shape all these years. Often comparing me to 4 other guys there my age who look much older. Some cool kid that started therelast month said he hopes he can be in this kind of shape when he gets older. Love that kid! 😄 Glad I took the chance. Love the kick ass environment and the lady I work for. Actually everyone says, damn you work hard, but I'm actually cruising just keeping busy. So I've proven to my boss that I'm alright! 👍 And I'm digging the benefits. Daily steel toe work outs and dropping inches while feeling strong 💪 Working in the sun without the wussy whining like the other guys.😄 I lift the steel rails all day long. BTW, I help other guys every now and then. Physically and with the log I keep. My boss are started to rely on my info so I've started asking for contributions like ice cream when the ice-cream man comes by. In the last 2 weeks I've gotten 5 free ice-cream as payment for helping out the wimpy guys. 😆😄😆

  9. Noon Saturday: Mid-wall channel complete on all walls. I was worried if I'd find a way to get it done with 56 screws where I had to line up panel holes with small holes for sheetmetal screws on the channels without taking all day. Thanks, Inside Man! Now I can start on the gables and the roof beams: roof and door tomorrow if I can stay on schedule. I needed Aspercreme Spray with Lidocaine today on my lower back. My lower back muscles were very sore this AM. They're fine now! That stuff works great for me. I hope my body holds up until this projects done.

  12. Yukon? What kind of name is dat? Yukon kiss my ass, water boy. I’m retired and ready to go to court any day to ask the judge why a 70+ year old man in a kayak on a remote lake in PA is being harassed by a punk with a badge and an overpowered floating cork. I can’t wait to hear your response then. Ammifreetogo?

  31. It happened a log time ago, and the lake was down more than it is now. I was out fishing in the kayak and I head a boat in the area I was. since I have a kayak I can get in a lot shallower water than they could so I never gave it thought. For me it was the fish and game boat coming to just check my catches and to see if I had a valid license. To get where I was they should have not just came at me straight on, but should have went up the channel to where the water from the river cut out a channel. Well they beached themselves pretty good about 800 feet from me.. not only could they not drop the prop enough to get unbleached, they actually called me over to talk. Anywho... I get over there and the new guy must not know how mud works, but he somehow thought it could be as hard as the ground they parked their truck on. he got off the boat and sunk up to hips.. lost his shoe and was really bitter and passed. I backed up a tad and straighten out because of wind drifting. I was not at a point where I was in control.. so I thought.. the new pissy rookie told me to come back closer, I said come get me.. this made his parter laugh. All in all I helped get them unstuck and they said forget about all the inspections.. I really wish I had my GoPro running, but I didn't have it on this outing.

  33. About 12 years ago. A couple years ago I got a call from someone trying to fax something to our office but they could not find the fax number. I told them they couldn't find the number because we don't have a fax machine. They then asked me why we don't have a fax machine and I said 'Because it is not 1998'.

  34. Well the Quebec contingent showed up a while ago so now we are all here. One of the Quebec families has Covid so they won’t be coming. Something like 25 people including 2 infants and a bunch of young kids. Tents and trailers all over the yard, water full of kids and dogs. Let the good times roll.
