  7. After three seasons of camping, the floor is getting a bit grungy looking. Wife decided she wants to change it to blue anyway so this weeks project is to strip everything out, give it a good scrub and a fresh coat of paint. Got the clean out and the scrubbing done so now it’s on to the paint.

  16. When eating leftovers? Wo46 has to have everything warmed up and most times I just grab and eat. I just got use to just eating it cold because we would have 30 people hitting the break room at the same time and only 3 microwaves and with only 15 minutes for break it was easier and faster. The only time I would have time to warm things up is when I would take my break separate from everyone else.

  20. They are in the R&R HOF. Rick, Robin, and Bun signed my copy of the Dream Police. Rick drew a pic of himself. My parents took me to an ice arena in Rockford to meet them. Rick was kicked out of his HS band. He called the band teacher a drunk.

  23. I had a Tailor from the old country-Italy, and he had special cable channels to watch the Italian Liga. I said , Oh, you’re watching ladies football. He wasn’t that good of a tailor, because on of my pant legs came out longer than the other.

  24. Lounge lizard. We were a bit disappointed at the Star Alliance lounge at LAX. Meh food that was cold and the lounge was pretty full. Couple guys across from us sucked down 4 beers. Then we're on our flight and had a couple more. We really liked the Alaska lounge at LAX. Will go there on our return trip. Hot dog in Paris Costco Cafe. We are hanging out while it rains

  28. Well funny you should ask… It looks like we are for sure doing the 40 miler for the Mammoth Gran Fondo. But since I’m not worried about saving my legs I went on an hour ride of mixed dirt road & trail. I was at about 8K feet elevation and actually felt OK. Pretty good really.

  36. Speaking of mammoths: I took my dad on a trip out to Yellowstone and places in between in July 1991 when he was in a partial remission state, felt good, but we knew he was very likely to die of cancer the next year. I wanted to show him the huge buffalo herds in Custer State Park, SD, which is a little ways south of Mount Rushmore. We looked and looked and could find no more than one at a time. I tried to drive one a rutted dirt road in my Chevy Corsica, but we reached a point were the ruts went deeper - so we had to back out for about 1/4 mile. We gave up looking for Bison and decided to check out the "Mammoth Site" to the south of the park, where fossils of mammoths, giant sloths, etc. that had gotten stuck in a bog had been found, were on display and volunteers were still excavating more of them as you watched. So we turned a corner leading to the south park entrance/exit and there they were (pic below)! Hundreds of bison. We stood in my car's doorways - Dad on the bisons' field side and getting a thrill every time a big, 2000 lb. bull would get within 20 feet of him and he'd jump back inside the car! It was a fantastic 2-week trip with South Dakota's Wall Drug store, Badlands National Park, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer, Mammoth, 7th Cavalry Museum, Bear Butte the sacred Sioux/Cheyenne site. We also saw one of the fairly new B1B bombers over I-90 and we followed it along the side roads until we were stopped by armed Air Force guards with guns drawn! We didn't realize we were on off-limits roads near Ellsworth Air Force Base! They let us take a peak at a parked B1B in the distance then told us to leave! Then onto Wyoming and Devils Tower, the Wagon Box Fight site, the Fort Phil Kearny site along the old Bozeman Trail, the Fetterman Massacre site, and we stumbled on a rodeo - we'd never seen one - in Sheridan, arriving 5 min. before it started! Then onto Montana and Little Bighorn Battlefield (the park was called the Custer Battlefield then), then a night at a Motel 6 in Billings before going on to Yellowstone National Park for 3 days. We talked a little about what Dad wanted me to do after he was gone, but mostly we just had fun. Dad passed away the following April. The Army usually paid the cost for one line on a tombstone, dad's being, "Sgt. U.S. Army WW2" but they paid for two lines for Dad's, the 2nd one being, "Darby's Rangers."
