  1. I agree there can be, Sue. But stoicism helps me care for her, and keep my sanity. As Ah-Ha! said "I'll do my crying in the rain", at least, as much as possible (I can't hold it in every minute, and any time someone asks me "How are you holding up?" aside from my very best friends, I want to scream). For now, it's my survival mechanism; it's part of my name change. My feelings go dormant until the moments I need them, or can't hold them in. Pancreatic cancer, like lung cancer, is one of the cast-iron bitches of cancer (forgive the encyclopedic memory savant part of me to take over for

  2. Last year I had a sore arm for a week after my flu shot, I mentioned that to the girl giving the shot. She said she would be gentle. I looked away...... ...she said all done. I don't know if she gave me a shot or not, I did not feel it.

  3. My designer did very very well, as did @Bikeguy. The home was designed with minimal waste, careful thought about cuts and minimal plumbing elbows. $121 a sq foot (garage, home, porches). The first construction company told us that it is the cheapest home they have done in a couple of years , with the exception of a couple track homes. This is a quote for it to be mostly finished. We may not go this way, and might do more finish work.

  5. I work at the best job I've ever had. They have already regularly told me "Your family comes first. You tell us what you need." They sent me an Uber Eats gift card early on so that if WoHB felt like eating; we could choose based on what her GI tract told her. Yesterday, I e-mailed my two bosses and a supervisor of the change in WoHB's condition. Within fifteen minutes, they came to me and told me to leave, and take the rest of the week off. They gave me a big group hug, and after I left, arranged an (optional) group prayer in the conference room later that day for myself and WoHB. I

  6. Just returned my rental car. It had a warmer in the front seats. My Honda Fit doesn’t have that. But my Fit drives nicer than the rental. I’m excited to get my car back!

  7. I drove a rental Lincoln a week ago. It was a car thingie. It was brand new. It had heated/air conditioned seats. I texted my wife and told her the car had "ball coolers". It was quite nice in the afternoon after working all day. But I tell you what was really nice... (and @roadsue would love it) was a heated steering wheel. Never in my life did I think that I would need/want a heated steering wheel. But it was really nice. Then I got back into my old plain jane pickup. The salesman/service guy asked me what I thought of the Lincoln and I said it was dope. He hinted at making a

  13. We installed these very basic ones on all of our toilets (including the RV) because of my wife's mobility issues. They're simple, inexpensive, and best of all they work. Side benefit is that we use a lot less paper. They've made a big difference in her ability to take care of personal hygiene herself. You simply turn the knob clockwise to clean the back and counter clockwise to clean things up front.

  14. So much better than the old ones. Clothes seem cleaner, I think they are. And the Wifi part is cool. I get an alert that LaWanda is done washing or Dwight is done drying. Went to bed with clothes in the dryer last night. Woke up and hit the STEAM FRESH cycle and ten minutes later I had warm fluffly non wrinkly clothes! Oh, and the dryer door can open down or to the side. I use the down setting to transfer from washer to dryer, as it is like a chute and then I use the side open to empty dryer into laundry basket. BTW, if you have better names than LaWanda and Dwight for a was

  15. HB you express your feelings so well. I wish I was good with words. Seven weeks isn’t much time to deal with this. With your wife in misery the short time may be a blessing. My health has gone downhill fast in the almost two years since I became my wife’s caregiver. I pray that you will have some time with your wife where her pain and misery is on hold and you can just talk and share memories and appreciate each other and the time you have had together.

  21. If she gets chemo, how long would it prolong her life and how much pain would it put her through? When my mother was diagnosed with stage-3 lung cancer, Johns Hopkins gave her 9 months to live - with chemo, a few months less without. She got chemo and, initially, it wiped out over 90% of the cancer in her lungs. But what was left was resistant to chemo and meds and began to grow unchecked. Since my sister was a cancer research nurse at Hopkins, she was able to slip my mother into a study of a promising new drug, along with chemo. My mother was functional - babysitting her 2 year-o

  34. Geez. My wifi network is named "wifi network". I come from the era of "enter user name".....user name, "enter password" ..... password. Of course my computer then says "The use of password at this time has resulted in a call being placed to 911 you have 10 seconds to vacate the area."
