One of the guys I have been doing wheel building and repairs for the last number of years is moving up from his mobile repair business to a brick and mortar shop in Toronto. He hasn’t fully opened yet, the front door is locked and the windows are covered in paper, but the service department is operating and he has a dedicated and loyal clientele that keeps him busy. He asked if I could come in for a few hours a couple of days a week to help out so I said sure. Mostly high end road stuff which is great to work on. Plus he is a great guy and an awesome mechanic so a good opportunity to learn stuff.14 points

Very satisfying. She did great. I fried off the corn tortillas and pureed the chilies while she shredded the chicken. Then I grated cheese, minced onion, and walked her through the green chili sauce. She was surprised how easily the sauce comes together. I made shortcakes yesterday when MiL came over for brat supper. So, we also ate strawberry shortcake for dessert. mr was surprised that whipped heavy cream keeps overnight.9 points

Driving home from work yesterday I stopped at the grocery store to pick up some food. I like to park near the side entrance as it’s not as busy as the main entrances. Also they have a few self checkout spots near that door so it’s a win win. A lady was pushing one of those enormous carts made for toddler entertainment with a toddler and some bags. She goes right to the two empty spots I was shooting for and blocks one. I park in the other and get out. By then her groceries are in the car and she’s getting ready to unload junior. I say, if you’re finished with your cart I can take it in. She was overwhelmed by the offer, like, nobody asked this before? She said thanks so much I’ve been up since 2:30 and a little frazzled now. No worries, I doesn’t cost me anything to return the cart for you, have a good day. Little dude gave me a fist bump. The world is a better place when we look out for each other.8 points

We were not sure what our chances were going to be given that a new Florida policy gives Florida residents a one month head start on booking campsites in the state parks, but we managed to book an entire month in three different parks. Yay! Now I better bring in some work to pay for all this travel given what is happening with the price of gas.5 points

We love ya Jeff. We are here to make sure you don’t take yourself too seriously. Thirty years is a good run but even aged prosperous fruit trees need to be pruned or they will die. So suck it up and come in here and take it out on @Razors Edge. The End.5 points

I buy several grand in branded clothing for my security team a year & have been using these guys since 2018. I hit them up yesterday stating I need 3 new shirts as I lost weight & don’t want to wear baggy polo’s to the meetings. As we have a lengthy approval process I told them I’d pay with my CC. I got shipping confirmation today, I sent an email asking for payment link and was told Josh (owner) said not to charge, his thank you for 6 years of business. I’m never leaving those guys!5 points

So, I’m looking at this house tucked up against The Wall, it’s like the keep to the old gate or something. Even a belfry—I guess for the ravens? Anyhow, there’s plenty of room. Same goes for Lake FP. Welcome to come swamp stomping for Loopy 5s, hobnob with the scientists and tv folk, sling a fly rod, or learn me how to use this boat, for a total break from real life.4 points

My right hand is still a little sore from the fall I had on Sunday. Everything's healing quickly, so I don't want to take a chance of aggravating something that should be fine at some point next week and then I'll so some shoveling and tilling the garden where tomatoes go in on May 8th and the peppers, cucumbers, and eggplants a week or two later. So I'm going to do some yardwork, but mostly just mowing and light weeding. I think my sister's crazy to ask me to grow cucumbers in my micro-greenhouse instead of waiting a month and putting them in directly in the outside soil, but since I had room to do it, I decided to try it and see if it gives us a head start. My Mini-me Cucumbers began to sprout today, 3 days after planting the seeds, but no Lemon Cukes yet. My sister's Sumter Cukes also began sprouting.4 points

A weekend of international travel. BuffCarla and I are headed to Niagara on the Lake for a one night visit. Will likely visit Fort George, a key fort in the War of 1812, and dinner reservations at a fancy restaurant Sat night. Stay in a country inn and head back Sunday, maybe visiting a winery along the way. Until Saturday afternoon I’ve got a suit fitting and a haircut for my daughter’s wedding 3 weeks away.4 points

She's leaving from Memphis. It's a nice airport and closer to us. We're about 1.5 hours from Memphis and just over 2 from Nashville. Either way, it's a long round trip, especially since she needs to be there by 6.3 points

One morning, I was having trouble with the waffle iron. Every time I opened it, the waffles would stick to both halves. I’d say bad words, dig the “waffles” out and fling them to the dog. He very quickly figured out that <beep beep beep> meant “incoming frisbee”. After that, every time I’d get the waffle iron out and plug it in, when it did its startup beep, he’d show up like magic. (He was also known for appearing out of thin air every time I shredded cheese - he’d stand next to me and stare at the floor…)3 points

I am celebrating living through the week. We have bars and beers tonight. It is an agility gathering where you do practice runs with your dog and sip a beer. Everyone brings a cool beer or an appetizer.3 points

It’s a long glidepath. I actually start my downward trajectory on my way home from work. Having to sit down for 35 minutes is a good start. (Unless there’s traffic consternation). Then I walk the dog, eat, shower, get my stuff ready for the next day - clothes, lunch etc. I goof around online for a bit and then go lay down and read. I have little to no problem falling asleep. Staying asleep is another matter.3 points

Sat. lunch with another different friend at Italian restaurant. Just hope place won't be overbooked since they have a good lunch deal. I might hear what she thought about ABQ, NM since she was there last month, for several days on a conference re indigenous health care / service delivery. Probably bike some more. Today was windy and cold but a short, fitness ride.3 points

My old neighbor Karen..inspite of our different political views...she allowed me to use a key..and watch the TDF...some mornings (she was not a morning person) she would join me..eventually learning the names of some of the top riders... She would have hit 89 in August RIP Karen Erickson3 points

The one the builder put in the house was a lower end model. The top rack broke. I could have spent a hundred or two fixing it (I already tried epoxy - it failed), but it would have just broken again in another year or two. We got a Bosch. It has some funky volcanic drying system that did not warp my water bottle. Plus, it has Wi-Fi; all dishwashers need Wi-Fi. yay2 points

Next week we are driving to Ohio with three adults and two dogs. We are renting a Chrysler Pacifica through Costco. Pick up the rental at Dulles airport on Wednesday to pack the night before. Plans that I’m aware of are a brunch with Janet the Martyr and Silent Doug. Son of Parsnip will ride with Silent Doug for a golf outing then he will be picked up by a friend who lives somewhere near Dayton for Friday night shenanigans. Wedding is on Saturday afternoon at some farm / barn wedding event place between Cincinnati and Dayton. Drive back on Sunday, return the minivan on Monday.2 points

The Daytona 500 is in February. I don't know how many fans book campsites but the Orlando Airport is crowded with incoming passengers the week before it. Just before the 500 is the Rolex 24 at the same track and during that time the World Series of Speed has modified and late model racing for many days at New Smyrna2 points
