  1. I am bringing some puff pastry bites with cranberry, brie, pecan and rosemary. Fingers crossed that they don't suck.
  2. I said they. It may not be a guy.
  3. Oh, boy. I guess my friend is no longer able to do these things with me. I am sad.
  4. They rode when their original break was only 10% healed. Then, they crashed again, dying shoulder now.
  5. My pal, bad bone break from a bike crash, then rode when their body hadn't fully healed and the blood supply to another part of their body was cut off after another crash. Now they are slowly losing their shoulder joint. What?!?
  6. It has not improved the smell of our state. Well, unless one loves the smell. Odorous. Muy.
  7. I cycle way better with strength training. It also helps to work the muscles that are often ignored. LIke arms for cyclists. Arms are just as important.
  8. Yes and no. I was invited on a horse pack trip. For that trip, I barely need to carry anything. That trip is in Fall 2024 and it inspired me to try this out again. It has been over 20 years since I put the pack down. I am inspired to do this again. I want to do a real backpack trip in Fall with my pal too. It will be a through hike with no pack animals.
  9. The stigma is part of it. It is really very little different to alcohol, IMHO. Alcohol has plenty of ill effects too. I think there has been limited research for things like tremors and seizures, which I have heard it can be very helpful. It makes sense, because it is a nervous system relaxant. It isn't like the plethora of pharma drugs are any less dangerous. The slew of side effects with pharma drugs are terrifying.
  10. They are the best. There is no reason toi buy anything else.
  11. Pickups seem to ber very popular down here too. We alsoi are big fans of rugged tires.
  12. Oh, here we go. The real thread. I check the mail if we are home. We have a huge locking box, so I can leave for weeks at a time and not fret. We have mail theft in my neighborhood. I have never lost a package or mail so far. I lost several at my old place.
  13. I never do. Maybe my bank does for me once in a while. Is this a damned parody?
  14. My Grandmother bought me the Whisperlite stove. She was so cute. She was concerned that it only had one burner. HAHA I explained to her that I have to carry it. She didn't understand truly the stuff I did.
  15. 13 pounds so far. I will allow myself to carry 30. Halfway there. 6 miles so far for the daily distance. I may not buy a mattress, and instead carry two old ones (closed cell, open cell). My open cell can double as a chair. I still have my whisper. I need water purification, two plastic nalgene bottles, a flint and a knife. I think my fixed buck knife is too heavy. It has this big handle, and a sheath. I believe I need a folding style. considering a spot or similar. Also, I need wool leggings and a pair of thin gloves. I am condiering a small organizer but again, weight is everything. Everything I read suggests that this activity is not bad for a healthy body, considering we do not overload it. It doesn't appear that I will have to do this activity alone. I have a plethora of people that wish to go with me. There is just no one in my family that wants to. I still plan to explore this irregardless. On Sunday I am hiking with a pal. She doesn't always hike at my pace but the company is nice. I will keep my pack at 13 pounds for this. I have a similar one, an older rei pack. It was my first. The thing I love about it, you can find everything easily. My Mountainsmith is like a giant duffel. I have to add some sacks for organization, but those also weigh something. I am so rusty at this.
  16. I should have had the thread title be, I gave my cousin PTSD with some outdoor fun.
  17. 4 days a week most of the time. The gym is easy cause it is at my workplace. One day a week I hike. They have really cool equipment. Anything I want, except for a pool. I don't think about Covid too much. Better treatments and less worry of dying.
