I will make my wife very happy by working on the house all day. Finish the garage attic storage area and start hauling stuff up there. Then install some light fixtures and dimmer switches.
I do ribs on my Weber. Peel the membrane, dry rub. Set up the Weber for indirect heat, drip pan under ribs coals on other side with apple wood on top, choke down the vents and forget about it for 4 hours. Perfect.
I'll cast my vote in favor of Swedish meatballs or as my Grandma used to call them, Chet-buller (phonetic spelling). I like spicy food too, but sometimes simplicity hits the spot with me. I've been eating them since I was a kid.
For the longest time I only knew the term hotdish. I figured a casserole was something completely different. I grew up on hotdish and made plenty for my family.
And I make my own Swedish meatballs (or as my Grandma would call them, "chet buller").
I made it into work today without a problem. Drove to park and ride on 61 just north of 36 and rode the bus into downtown St. Paul. Going home this evening could take awhile however.
Guy I used to work with harvests his own honey. He told me you never know what you're getting from the grocery store unless it is specifically labeled. Luckily, Cub foods sells honey labeled as coming from the St. Croix River valley here between MN and WI. So that's what I buy.
Back in the late 80's when I bought my first house my Dad encouraged me to push what I could afford. Reasoning that my salary would increase and that real estate was traditionally a good investment. Not sure about the good investment reasoning any more but you got to have a place to live.
Good for you KT. I hope you two enjoy home maintenance. I've been building a house the last few years just across the river in Czechoslovakia, I mean Wisconsin. My work has just started due to all the work I'll have to do once we move in.
What kind of house you looking for? Old, new ...? What part of town?
