  2. And the loyalty app. Free loaf on my next visit!
  3. Helluva frozen moment.
  4. You all act as if a chunk of bread is the devil’s foothold. It’s not for everyone; I get that.
  5. Aww… how you going to deny a man his slow cooker pork braise?
  6. No. They dinnae have cheese Danish.
  7. Aww, Byron! So tricky a thing, the heart. 💞
  8. Running errands on my bike. Bird food, coffee beans, whole grain bread. Great Harvest gives out slices of their freshly baked breads, too. And she hooked me up with a massive chunk of cranberry orange bread. Heading home, I’ll have to ride northwest a little before turning around at a street with a bike lane. My usual route south and east from here cuts through a high school parking lot and out into the neighborhood, but all of our schools are closed off now with fences and locked gates.
  9. Baking soda, vinegar, warm water. Let the cucumber soak for a while, then rinse and scrub with a vegetable brush.
  10. Playthings By Rabindranath Tagore Child, how happy you are sitting in the dust, playing with a broken twig all the morning. I smile at your play with that little bit of a broken twig. I am busy with my accounts, adding up figures by the hour. Perhaps you glance at me and think, "What a stupid game to spoil your morning with!" Child, I have forgotten the art of being absorbed in sticks and mud-pies. I seek out costly playthings, and gather lumps of gold and silver. With whatever you find you create your glad games, I spend both my time and my strength over things I never can obtain. In my frail canoe I struggle to cross the sea of desire, and forget that I too am playing a game
  11. Jay can help assemble the clean room?
  12. I lost! 142 day streak is over.
  13. Yes! Hwy 12 scenic byway in Utah is stunning.
  14. My MiL lives alone in a house with many small rooms, out-dated wiring, and a kitchen layout that has a stove less than a foot from the doorway into the family room. Zillow suggests she could get $350k for it. But it needs $170k in renovations. She’s also realizing that nobody wants her stuff. Not the furniture, the collectibles, the textiles, nor artwork. Golf clubs and skis from the 80’s.
  15. All the more reason to spend it and give it away to miserable failures to spend, too.
  16. Pottersville is pure depravity. Money being the root of everything evil. @MickinMD would do himself right to make it rain Benjamins on his family and rid himself of that foothold to the devil.
  17. One of my favorite exchanges of dialogue from It’s a Wonderful Life. Peter Bailey: Mr. Potter, what makes you such a hard-skulled character? You have no family, no children. You can't begin to spend all the money you've got. Mr. Potter: So I suppose I should give it to miserable failures like you and that idiot brother of yours to spend for me.
  18. Go to an Asian market where the packaging is in another language and buy oolong.
  19. For @Dottleshead, on thinking about retiring to a tropical climate. After the Winter By Claude McKay Some day, when trees have shed their leaves And against the morning’s white The shivering birds beneath the eaves Have sheltered for the night, We’ll turn our faces southward, love, Toward the summer isle Where bamboos spire the shafted grove And wide-mouthed orchids smile. And we will seek the quiet hill Where towers the cotton tree, And leaps the laughing crystal rill, And works the droning bee. And we will build a cottage there Beside an open glade, With black-ribbed blue-bells blowing near, And ferns that never fade.
