  1. This ^ is way more compassion for others than many would think about. You will get thru this... You are stronger than you know.
  2. Before you leave that area, stop at King's Island and ride The Beast. Still one of my favorite wooden rollercoasters. https://www.visitkingsisland.com/rides-experiences/the-beast Have a good trip.
  3. Yeah.. I've been right, but management above me did NOT want to know and/or look bad. There is politics everywhere. I learned you my win the battle, but loose the war. Some times a battle is not worth the results. One guy I knew quit back in 1979 because of the company politics. About a year later I remember talking to the guy. He was even more upset about company politics at his new job. I asked him where he was working. He tells me IBM. So he leaves a large company and works for a bigger company and didn't expect company politics to exist there?
  4. I met WoBG where we worked. For many years that was a major concern. We both could have been let go during the many reductions in the workforce. That is when we learned to live well below our means. Been there done that. Sometimes rocking the boat too much doesn't help. I learned that slowly... Most who I knew that were eliminated did better with their next job. Don't loose sight of you life goals. You will get through this.

It could have been worse... My free company cellphone was a HTC Windows 8X phone. That was a shitty phone. At the time our IT dept liked it because it compatible with some security app the wanted to use.

  7. Do you have the security code for the radios? If you do (I'll assume yes) you can disconnect the car battery. That will kill the power to the radio. Reconnect the battery, will restart the radio. You will probably need to enter the security code to make it work again. Rebooting the radio is all I got...
  8. We are at a place that included sliced bratwurst with the burger. I won't have that again. It was indeed wrong.
  9. That looks like it will take a while to complete.
  10. So this happens when the MIL is visiting.

    MIL Rant….

https://www.tickcounter.com/countdown/5140429/my-countdown I guessed 12 noon. (I forgot to adjust for Pacific time. )
  12. I used a 5250 terminal emulator on my company laptop for years. I'm old enough to have used a real 5250 too. @Razors Edge That was one of the programs I had to fight to keep. Every time I'd get a new laptop, the 5250 emulator program was not installed. It was not part of the 'standard' build for our dept. I remember accessing the mainframe computer and running queries and downloading the data to my laptop. Then using Access to combine the different tables, etc...
  13. When we were first married we did day trips more than a few times during the year. Mostly in the summer. During the first 16 years, we went on maybe 4 or 5 trips for a week of two. In 2000 we stared taking one 2 week trip a year in June no matter what... we went somewhere. WoBG and I figured if we didn't go on a vacation then, we would not go in the future either. That plan ended in 2013. We stated saving more money for the house we live in now. We still go on day trips from time to time. We have visited 44 of the 50 states. And a trip to England, another trip to Italy, and we visited Canada twice.
  14. I can't remember what the music was during the dance. Our daughter was married maybe 25+ years ago. Then again... I don't think the music mattered that much. I was not much of a dancer for years. Now I'm better than I was... After I retired WoBG and I started taking Swing Dance lesions. The instructors also had a class for Wedding Reception Survival and we took that class too. https://www.fredastaire.com/buffalo/wedding-programs/ The web site displays kind of bad on my laptop, but you get the idea.
