  1. I thought about that. The only risers I found were ugly. I'd rather have grass and dig the holes. I'll regret that if I ever need to dig down to the tank in January.
  2. How much syrup will that make?
  3. We have been in our almost new home for 5 years and 2 months. I figured it was time. I don't need problems with the tank, leach field, etc.. On Thursday 3/7 I called and told the scheduler I'd like the tank pumped out in 1 to 2 weeks. I'm told... 'I'll call you back and let you know when we will be there.' Yesterday I decide I better find the tank. So I spent some time pounding fiberglass driveway markers into the ground. I found the tank. Then I wondered why the septic pumping scheduler didn't call me back. Yesterday afternoon I called again. 'The guy will be there tomorrow afternoon.' Thanks for the advance notice. So then I spend the next hour digging down to the septic tank cleanout ports. Now I have all of the measurements to the center of each port. In 5 of 6 years it will be easy to find. The guy came today and about 1 1/2 hours later he was finish. I filled in the holes and put the grass back like sod. It should rain tomorrow and Thursday. The end.
  4. I don't recall ever running out of gas. In the winter I'll fill up when the tank gets down to 1/2. That helps to keep condensation from forming inside the tank. In warm weather I'll go down to 1/4 of a tank. I've seen the low fuel warning come on in the Prius twice. The multi function display asks "Do you want to navigate to a fuel station? If you select Yes you get a route to the closest gas station. I find a gas station ASAP when that happens. You NEVER want to run a Prius out of gas. If you keep driving, that will drain the hybrid battery and that could damage the hybrid system. The hybrid system is not designed to be used without the gas engine, I've read where the computer can throw a code and then the engine will NOT start, even after adding gas to the tank. You need to connect to the OBD2 port and know how to clear the code. I suspect that's how Toyota prevents damage to the hybrid system. (That said... under normal driving conditions, the Prius computer will turn off the gas engine and it will operate as an EV for short distances).
  5. So.. @jsharr was correct. This updates the meaning of graveyard shift. English is indeed difficult.
  6. How about words that are pronounced the same way, but are spelled differently. (there their) Or worse, a word that has two pronunciations, and two means. (lead for example) Now I know why I always liked computer languages and the structure they use.
  7. I understand that. Over the years we have had 5 dogs that passed. We had their love and companionship between 3 1/2 years and 14 years while they were living with us. It's always a sad when they pass. We still have all of the memories.
  8. @JerrySTL's adaptor could work if it fits and the car bumper get in the way. Another option. You change out the receiver hitch. Sure it's work, but you should be able to find and aftermarket 2" receiver hitch for the car. It most likely will be cheaper than a new bike rack too. Then use your old bike rack. When we purchsed our 2010 Subaru Forester, if I went with the Subaru installed receiver hitch it was going to be a 1 1/4 receiver. I got the car without a receiver hitch. Then I installed an aftermarket 2" receiver hitch. Some cars... it is relatively easy to do. Then I used my old 2" receiver bike rack to carry our tandem. I purchsed the 2" receiver hitch from https://www.etrailer.com/ Look for your car, and see if they have a 2" receiver hitch. Then watch the installation video (most cars have a video to watch) to see how difficult it is to do. This assumes.... the OEM receiver hitch was installed the same way the aftermarket receiver hitch. That may not be the case. You would need to see how the OEM receiver hitch is installed before trying this option.
  9. That's an understatement.
  10. I had several over the years at work. One time I had to take 3 test with different questions, and spend 2 hours with an interviewer (who was supposed to be a shrink trying to be stealth). And a follow up session with the shrink to review the results. I guess they were trying to be sure i wasn't crazy, etc... when I became a manager. WoBG suggested that they needed better testing.
  11. I filled at least 6 33 gallon garbage bags with roofing materials, insulation, and wood that came from homes about 40 miles to the SW. One piece of roofing material was a 2' X 3' piece of plywood with some shingles still attached. After the storm passed, we went outside and saw all of that stuff in our yard. We figured OMG our house. I quickly went around our house. It was OK. I did have to go up on the roof to remove debris. Yeah I was lucky.
  12. Nope.. I figured I used up all of my luck for quite a while.

    That's how I get hills.
  14. When you hear the loud roar and you go out on your front porch and there isn't any wind... that is when you run and hide in your safe place for tornadoes. That roar I'll never forget. The tornado was on the ground SW of our old home. It lifted and passed directly over our home. NE of our home it touched down again. My home was spared. I got to work for the next 2 weeks on emergency power restoration.
  15. This and... some jobs go much quicker even with an apprentice helper. If the guy has his own ladder that may help too.
  16. I'd say @maddmaxx would disagree.
  17. Just think.. you can experience jet lag without using a jet.
  18. No. We stopped watching many years ago.

  20. Just keep working out, walking, etc... Your doing a good job.
  21. Below are my steps, (you slacker... ) and that's after our dog walks have been cut back from 1 1/2 miles to 3 miles a day to maybe 1/2 a mile a day. Our 16 1/2 year old Jack Russell has arthritis and he doesn't walk much anymore A few times I just pick him up and carry him. (15 pounds) When he was 12 (that's when we adopted him) he was like the Energizer bunny and could walk and walk and walk. Our longest walk was 6 miles. At that time he probably could have gone a lot longer. He always was just to my right side, matching my speed. Some taught him to heal and walk with his human. It's hell getting old, even for dogs.
