  1. We have flashlights stashed everywhere. In the cars, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom drawers. During a tornado warning Mrs started to walk back upstairs because she forgot to grab her a flashlight. I told her stay downstairs because we had three or four in the map bags in the downstairs snowmobile clothing closet.
  2. Yep, I figured they would low ball us but when they made us the offer I let out a big "YES!" when they turned away. Got WAY more for my groovy little motorcycle at the motorcycle dealer too. They say used prices are dropping now, but I ain't seeing it.
  3. I guess they sell a ton of them overseas, but they never caught on here.
  4. I got the extended warranty because of the roof, but its a Mazda so it was perfect. They've had the same system on the retractable hard tops for many years before the RF model. Only issue we had in six years was the SD card for the GPS developed an issue during one of the updates and got replaced per warranty.
  5. Ours is for sale at a Mazda dealer in Milwaukee if you're interested. I know the previous owners personally, and they took impeccable care of it.
  6. The Royal Enfields are little gems no one seems to know about. Maybe its their lack of dealerships or early day reputation that make people check them off their list. It took me one test ride and I was hooked. They even have models that cater to the younger crowd too. https://www.royalenfield.com/us/en/motorcycles/
  7. It was sitting in the garage while she was driving my car into the ground. She has a new CX5 now.
  8. It does have all the charm and personality of a '60s English motorcycle, with all the good "modern luxuries" like CDI ignition, modern tires, fuel injection, disk brakes/abs and a three year roadside assistant warranty that I can extend another three years if I find its necessary later.
  9. Much the same way I used my previous motorbike (and Miata,) weekend morning rides and commuting to work when the weather permits. Mrs traded away the Miata, so this motorcycle, being larger than my previous groovy lil motorbike, is better suited for extended trips that I used to use the Miata for.

Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor Orange Crush. Need to call the dealer to get it in for its 300 mile service already.
  11. Top of the morning! Just got back from an early morning coffee and donut motorcycle ride. It was a little brisk but sunny in the lower 50s.
  12. I've got to go in because all three of the higher ups will be off, leaving me mostly in charge... What were they thinking?
  13. Yep, lots of traffic heading north.

Last week we finally bought Mrs a new CX 5. Mrs has been dragging her feet on getting a new car, she couldn't decide, didn't want a payment, etc. So she has been driving my CX 9 everywhere. Suffering hail damage and parking lot dings. I finally put my foot down and told her if she doesn't buy herself a new car, Il buy something else for myself. She quickly decided what she wanted, which color, and what options. I went online and found one across town from our usual dealer, told her to get in the car, went and bought it. "See dear, that wasn't so hard." Its dirty from driving it all yesterday in the rain, but its a white metallic with the dark brown napa leather interior. It takes up a bit more space than the Miata.
  15. I think it depends how many they have of a certain model in stock. Some hide it in the details. Some flaunt it so all can see. Ford cant build the Mavericks fast enough. And whats not to love? Finally someone brought back a basic, fairly inexpensive, get you there and back type vehicle at a reasonable price. But they underestimated how many people have been waiting for just such a vehicle. Now I'd buy this car all day for $28,000, even trade my beloved Dakota for it, but not $33,000.
  16. Yeppers, the last 3 or four cars we had 0.9 percent finance rates. We would even finance almost the whole amount and take a longer term just because it cost next to nothing to spread it out and we kept our money in money making accounts. Today, Ford offers 7% financing and wants to charge me the $5000 "Market Correction" for the privilege.
  17. Yep, sensing doom and gloom on the horizon, I bought my larger SUV in 2020 too. LOVE that car. Mrs thought I was nuts buying a fairly expensive car in that unsure economy. But to buy that car today would cost an additional $12,000, not counting today's extra finance rates. I've been campaigning for two years to get Mrs a full efficient CX-30 too, but she has been hesitant. I finally gave up and I'm looking at a Hybrid Maverick instead. 40mpg beats the 15mpg I'm getting with my truck commuting to work.
  18. Since our daughter and son in law have no clue mechanically or fiscally, Mrs is helping our granddaughter to buy a car. And I've been looking to replace my truck. We've found between today's astronomical finance rates, lack of inventory, and $5000 "Market Correction" fees, its a tough time to buy a car. Problem is our granddaughter needs a car asap. But I think I'll wait to see if things change.
  19. Yesterday I noticed a bunny sitting in the middle of our back yard, ten feet from the Poodle corral. Not a great spot for a nest. I just mowed that spot Thursday.
  20. Seems like they're cracking down this year. While recently riding though a small town, tucked in within a row of cars, riding my groovy little 250cc motorbike, I got pulled over for doing 30mph in a 25mph zone. The officer did a tire squealing U-turn in the residential area to chase me down too. She said they were cracking down on the noise making, speeding motorcycles frequenting a local biker bar. She let me go with a verbal warning, but I cant help but think she was pulling over the motorcycles least likely to ever stop at that bar so the local residents could see her pulling over motorcycles, and word wouldn't get out that the village was anti motorcycle.
  21. Are you talking tint? And are your back windows not tinted from the factory? For years the first thing we've been doing when we buy a new car is to tint the windows with the darkest legal tint. With the SUV's coming with back tinted windows, we only needed to do the front/side windows. Never tint the windshield though.
  22. Last weekend we took the Miata out of winter hibernation. The Mrs mentioned she thought our high mileage 2012 Mazda 3 seems to shift smoother then our low mile 2017 Miata. Both have the same 2.0 Skyactiv motors with 6 speed manuals. One transverse, one not. I reckoned the front wheel drive linkage on the "3" dampened any notchy-ness from the transmission. And with the Miata (rear wheel drive) theres only a few inches between the shift knob and the trans. So you can "feel" it go into every gear.
  23. Last year we got an $8000 quote to redo the Poodle Corral. Its just 150 feet of cyclone fencing with a walk in gate on each end.
