  1. my uncle and my sister in law both do root canals, though my SIL its her specialty - endontist. I've had a few - no issues at all. i was scared the first time i needed one cause my mom's experiences were seemingly awful. Mine were uneventful. If a tooth is killing me, advil for a few days will dull the pain enough till i could get to the dentist. besides - if the tooth is hurting that bad, and its not infected, you know what's happening? the nerve is dying. It doesn't take that long for it to be killed completely. Then the root canal could theoretically be done without novicaine. yes, seriously. my uncle always test the tooth first without novicaine or he could kill a live root.
  2. So i took the wife to a shooting range today. Our first time shooting in our now home state of TN. Our luck, the beretta 92FS jammed and they said they were having trouble with it all night. So we switched go a Glock 19 gen 4 which was ok, the Gen 3 had a smaller grip somehow that was better for her small hands. We also tried a Ruger P90 DA0 that was awesome and heavy but she HATED. Is there any spec for a 9mm gun that tells you the thickness of the grip and distance from the very top of the grip/back ( where it rests between thumbs and first finger) to the trigger pull? We've been advised that if you know what you want, get it from cheaperthandirt.com and ship it to someone with an FFL to do the work for $50, saves a boatload.
  3. well, i have been dormant a while and found nothing here to respond to. I was hoping for something exciting and this is what i got.
  4. yeah, i dont fully know her story. i know she lives alone but i think has grankids. Originally we got off on the wrong foot and we aren't super chummy, but the more i get to know her, the more she grows on me. She's good, just not easiest to hit it off with.
  5. you have just explained why i'm asking WoFFF for gun lessons and a gun. I want to be able to protect our home. An alarm wont do jack.
  6. The joys of living in the mid-south working with ex-navy and other intersting figures. My ex-navy guy talks about how he loves crown royal, its smooth, etc. He says he always has a headache day after. A nice woman (turned 50 recently) says its great to have followed by pickle juice. I'm like is that the way southerners do thing? instead of salt, tequila, lime, its crown royal followed by pickle juice?
  7. i think one of us should go on a hunger strike until its fixed. The rest of us should protest. If a photojournalist tries to take pictures to report on it, we should get some "muscle" to get rid of him. I hear that's a really effective way of getting what you want now adays....
  8. So apparently swamrning lady bugs is common in TN when it is unseasonably warm in early November (no complaints about the temps, LOVING it) But the building i worked in looked really freaky yesterday afternoon
  9. the best candy corn made (as far i as know since i only eat kosher) is from Jelly Belly. There candy corn is unreal.
  10. i use my cx bike with two panniers and a rack from ibera i got through amazon and so far been pretty darn good. I use some nice bright lights (Even during daylight(, i have a hornit 140db horn (but its a chirper) and so far avoided bad rain. I use 37mm tires from vredstein that rock especially going over the multiple railroad tracks along my commute. It's awesome. We have a shower/gym at work so i clean up when i get there. I wish for a better palce to store my clothes to quasi dry for my commute home, but i deal with it. My towel hangs by my cube.
  11. SO how is TN y'all ask? it's pretty great honestly. WoFFF and I have made lots of good friends, and really become part of the Jewish community here (that's kind of how the gig at the grizz happened). I'm also really enjoying the new job, finding it a fun place to work with interesting people etc. I am slightly unsure of what is it that will eventually lead to promotions or the like which would be an issue for me when we hopefully have kids and therefore much greater expenses but its great for now. Amazingly, lots of colleagues are interested in hearing about my religion etc. People are really respectful of it - refreshing considering how that wasn't the case in all the financial services companies i used to work at. I wish the vacation policy were a little more generous so that it would be like it used to be where i used vacation days for the jewish holidays and the remainder of vacation days for vacation, but right now somehow they were just excused absences and i guess i still have vacation days. Cycling here has been great. I commute to work by bike 14.5 miles each way and so logged 217 miles last week between a sunday ride and commuting every day. I've put well over 2,000 miles on my bike since moving here and only 1300 miles on my car. It's not easy being green but it's pretty good. How's everyone else doing?
  12. sadly a colleague told me a story about his son who has some condition that gave him a ridiculous arm span and man curve. his daughter, who is a model traveling the world as an 18 year old, once saw it hanging out of her brother's shorts and started saying "ewww" funny and embarassing story...
  13. So i've come to apologize to y'all/ya'll for not being around much. I forgot that i miss the forumites as part of my life and should really come back to participate or more often observe the hysterical conversations that go on. A few weeks ago i got to sing the national anthems, israeli and american, as a pre-season memphis grizzlies game against macabi haifa from israel. I just got the video, ripped it and put it on youTube. Enjoy or hate at your leisure :-)
  14. I'll take a look. There is one on board ave in midtown-ish. I stopped in on my ride back from work yesterday. The owner is really awesome, racer of sorts, been on the domestic pro circuit i think. http://www.victorybicyclestudio.com/
  15. All still in one piece, well i guess two less pieces than it used to have since i'm mono-ossicular in one ear (all 3 ossicles are grafted together). Other than that and still can't smell $h!t all is good.
