They demanded US players in their professional basketball league to return a week or two ago, else face a lifetime ban from China. Which means the virus isn’t contained, they just want to appear to be in control. Just like Russia.

Hobby Lobby owner claims to have heard the voice of God telling him he is an essential business and will therefore keep his stores open. I think he should be committed to a psychiatric facility on an involuntary basis for danger to self and others related to auditory hallucinations.

Maybe? But I work on campus, the place has been deserted since they went on Spring Break on 3/6. The only fleury of campus activities was 3/14, when students came back to move out of the dorms for the semester, In-person classes ending for the semester.

I don’t like this: Nor the conversation that after next week we need to reassess if we’re doing more harm to the economy than good by staying home. Our national leaders have no resolve.

I could justify riding with one other person from a safety perspective. Crash, major mechanical, etc. Just keep some distance.

One confirmed case in the Pitt dorms with several related exposures. I don’t know why anyone was still living in a dorm since classes have been cancelled for two weeks.

I hope you mean that you and she were able to keep away from other people, not that you and she needed to maintain space apart from each other. Because if you’re living together, you’re already sharing the same viruses, regardless of spacing while on a walk.

My local bike group has been continuing their rides, now daily as so many of them are home from work. It’s the same routine as always Meet at a coffee shop (now take-out only), ride to another, repeat, turn around and head home. No pace lines anymore, goal of keeping 6’ apart from each other. But is it worth it, really? It strikes me as somewhat less irresponsible than partying on a beach at spring break, but way too much risk for my liking. Am I over reacting? I haven’t responded to any of the emails, but I am annoyed by it. Indoor trainer, solo ride, or ride with one training partner for safety seems the more conscientious approach to me.

Ralph, I don’t think that applies to when you are at home surrounded by only your germs. Wash your hands immediately after getting home and then be yourself while at home.

I honestly believe doctors reached out to the Governor and said if they didn’t leave them open, the hospitals would be overrun by people needing hospital care for complicated withdrawal. We don’t have the ER or hospital capacity to accommodate that, so keeping liquor available became important.

What’s the current rate of doubling for the virus, three days? So by April 1 we could easily be at 100,000 cases in the US, and even more with more testing?
